The Orlando Thread: We Have The Life Lead, So We're Going To Chill!

Now I just need an actual KOF game to play.

I remember this video. Is there anything like this for Blazblue CS mechanics?

No hate whatsoever, homey =) I wasn’t being 100% on-the-dot accurate when I said I only play games that are around for a year after their release =) I still play MK2 which came out 17 years ago heh… lullllllllllz @ MK2 poster: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/5d/Mortal_Kombat_II.png

I’m not opposed to playing these games, man… it’s just hard for me to invest time into learning a new game if I know it’s not gonna be played on a regular basis, ya know? Shit, tell you what, next time I go to a gaming get-together, I’ll give one of these games a shot to see if I like it or not =) Might hate it, might love it. Bottom line, don’t be offended by my previous post, it was just a general statement, and had no bearing on any fighting game(s) that I haven’t yet played.

EVO starts today, good luck to Leland! Here are his pools:

Super Street Fighter IV Pool M Friday, July 9th at 5:00 PM
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Pool D Saturday, July 10th at 9:00 AM

Not sure who else went from OTown/CFL, but good luck to them too

Ian: The video Hamilton posted is a good place to start. It explains a lot about the difference in KOF fundamentals versus Street Fighter fundamentals. It won’t explain the VERY basic functions of the game (chaining command normals, Advanced vs. Extra gauge functions), but if you need to know about those, I can help you out. (Although really if you just want to train for XIII, you only really need to know how to play in Advanced.)

The SRK KOF 98 wiki isn’t complete, but for the characters that ARE listed (most of the top-tier ones), it has good information on move properties and general strategy. If you have any questions about any character not on the wiki, ask me and I’ll see if I can’t provide you more info or at least a Youtube video of someone beasting.

Bear in mind that everything in that video is relative to KOF 98, which is probably the best KOF to learn the game on. The tiers are all very close together, the subsystems aren’t very complex, there aren’t a whole lot of weird tricks involved in advanced execution, and of course it has a HUGE roster of characters to choose from.

I recommend obtaining a copy of KOF '98 Ultimate Match for PS2, which includes an internally emulated version of the original '98 as well (both arcade-accurate). '98 UM is probably actually closer to KOF XIII because of how it accepts inputs relative to the anal buffer/cancel windows of old '98.

Yes, I am a GIGANTIC nerd for this game, and I will do everything short of sexual favors to get people to play it. If Ian or anyone else is hosting on the weekend, I can bring '98 UM for 360 and/or PS2, and I will gladly answer questions, demonstrate move properties, tell you how much your favorite character sucks (spoiler: actually it’s hard to find characters in '98 who suck), whatever. Start now and you assholes will be MORE than ready when KOF XIII comes to town.

EVO Stream is LIVE:

Evo 2010 Live Broadcast

Good luck to Leland and everyone else at Evo!

he’s up at 5, I hope he makes the live stream, that would be the shit!

New page — so here’s the live EVO stream link again: Evo 2010 Live Broadcast

Awesome!

Edit

Here read this guide. It will tell you most of what you need to know.

http://blazblue.byethost13.com/bbcs/system.html

Edit:

In addition to that system guide I’m going to add a few things.

When you Instant block you get +5 advantage on standing and +10 advantage in the air. So if Jin Ice car is 2 frames disadvantage for you on block, if you instant block that standing then you get 3 frames of advantage on block.

Also in CS if you hold a button down the game will repeatedly process the input for 5 frames. This means you can make links easier by holding the button down. This makes most links no more than 5 frames. The exception to this rule is combo from dash.

Edit:

OK I’m going to add more stuff lol.

The wake up game in BlazBlue is a bit different from other fighters because you can roll tech when you are on the ground. Part of the strategy is to punish bad rolls or to force peeps to roll tech the way you want. A simple example is if your opponent is in the corner a lot of people will want to tech forward(to get out of the corner) this can be punished by siting there and looking for the tech. If you see it just backdash and punish during the recovery of the roll tech.

So what’s the story for Orlando in EVO pools?

@ Ben

Not sure about much from Orlando, but I have heard and seen some Florida play.

FlashM didnt make it through the pools in an upset and lost to JR (Honda from NorCal I believe…?)
I saw D’Nyce win a match on the stream…that’s about all I know…

Wasn’t a good day at EVO For Florida that’s all I know. But I do know besides the tourney itself everyone is having a great time over there.

My next event is up now. No Door fee at this one guys. Just 10 bucks to enter then you know hang out and drink/eat at Hooters while there.
I’m paying for the prize money out of my pocket so I’m hoping we’ll have at least 40 just to cover that and I don’t lose money. Either way this will be a very fun tournament and also Don’t forget about Will’s Pub on July 19th.

EDIT:

if anyone wants to head over for some games feel free

Just ordered the 360 Hori SE stick with Semitsu parts. Maybe I’ll actually play something other than ST on GGPO now

this post shows all the characters 6-10 combos trails from BBCS, enjoy some combo learnedness

Blazblue: Continuum Shift Video Posting Thread

I HATE LIFEEEE!
Just as I was about to start switching to Adon, Gamerbee shows up with a bandwagon that I don’t wanna be a part of!

I guess I have to join it and outlive everyone else… Anywho!
Anyone know Adon pretty well that can help me out a bit?

I can help! Otherwise, browse the Adon boards. I usually post some cool stuff there.

Oh Yay!
yeah I was looking at them a bit, I’m gonna go through again after all the hype is filtered out so I can look more in depth!

Sent you a PM with some questions BTW, and thanks for the helping hand broskis :]!

The Orlando Thread: We Guess On Wake Up.

Gamerbee is killing it now on the Salty Suite stream. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/teamspooky

It was only a matter of time until somebody did with Adon what Gamerbee did. He’s not a particularly dominating character, but he’s weird enough that players of Gamerbee’s caliber are going to blindside a lot of people to start.

The real winner of Evo semis this year has got to be Honda. With his damage mostly untouched from vanilla and many of his worst enemies nerfed, he’s really come out to blow people out in standard Honda fashion, turning nervous high-level chokes into a massive life deficit protected behind a solid wall of down-back charge and good old Japanese ass fat.
