There’s no real reason for the stages to cause lag. You don’t really care if the backgrounds for the two players desync so you can just let them run in their own thread or whatever and then forget about them. They’re going to take time to draw but that shouldn’t effect online play (if it can handle the backgrounds at 60fps in single player then it can in multi too) and most of the really flashy, memory-hogging effects cover the whole screen in MvC3 so you can stop drawing the background anyway. I mean, why bother?
So I wouldn’t worry too much about the backgrounds. Just enjoy the show.
I’ve already stated that HDR came out 2 years before sf4 hit the arcades. I don’t even think sf4 was even being developed yet. So even before they even started making the game, they already knew you had to program games a certain way to allow a roll back netcode but when the game gets the ok for development, they choose not to do it for some reason.
and ponder has stated several times he could make ggpo work with sf4 but capcom wouldn’t let him try.
alpha 2 on ggpo, mvc2 on x360 and ssf4 online all suffer from additional frame skipping\input lag due to stages. The stages do affect the input lag\frame skip. Somehow what stage you’re on affects how the inputs will register.
Team battle, yes I know this would be murder on the latency but you and 2 buddies controlling one team could be fun (otherwise make it avaliable offline
We’ll prolly end up getting a ranked mode, which I don’t really care for anymore since (like SF4) BP says nothing.
I would suggest that MvC3’s characters shouldn’t sync with the background during online matches. That way there’s far less information to sync over the network connection and allows a much smoother connection. They can also focus more on prediction and input acknowledgement without needing to deal with the stage animation on top of it.

There is no reason for c.lp to be in a VS game? then there was characters are REALLY easy to master in VS games even though strider\spiral have been evolving for 10 years let alone what xvsf has been doing. and if the net play is already cemented, this is because new players such as yourself prefer x character in the game, with x stage, you need these costumes other wise its trash, you need these voice actors and we need to talk about which notation to use!
I don’t have a problem with new players but when you start affecting a games outcome, I’m going to speak up. When this forum first allowed mvc3, I stated my problems about ssf4 net play numerous times, go back and look if you want to. It was my MAIN concern as it was the main concern of other players who know how to play. My main concern isn’t a notation thread and thats exactly whats wrong with modern srk.
new players care about dumb shit that doesn’t matter and experienced players just want a good game and good net play. If it was nothing but good players posting, superior net play would of been a HUGE topic of concern because we understand where the community is currently @.

it has something to do with that. For some reason, the characters inputs are related to stage somehow seeing as how its been a problem in more than 1 capcom game. Technically this problem has been in 3 generations of fighting games, a2, mvc2 and now ssf4.
Its gotta be the way they’re programming their games.
Net play was cemented regardless. Unless the 1% of actual good players can convince the 99% of casuals that net play is actually important, then it will NEVER be heard. As much as I would like this opinion to actually get through to Capcom, it won’t. I got better things to do with my life rather than stress over this, like, actually getting a degree and a career.

I’m barely doing anything. The only thing I said to him was that if somebody’s gonna poll the top players and get a serious response it would have to be somebody they’re likely to give some time to, and they’re less likely to give any time for a serious discussion to some random guy off the street.
And I think we do know what they’ll say.
