Imo, Japan>US has no bearing on American storylines.
Japan will always be better than America right? So in that case I am interested in America players foremost and Japanese secondly. I am American and just because I know Japan is better than us doesn’t mean I don’t get hype for American games. Is that what you are getting at? We all suck, Japan is better? Japan is not that much better than usa nowadays when we look at top players (Which is what is boils down to), and we took ST and CvS2 at Evo before.

I mean, if you go character by character, you would see that. Top US Sagats’: LI Joe, FLoE. Top Japan Sagats’: Mago, Oji-san
Tell me who’s better? You can do this for almost any character (besides the console characters obviously)

If you’re talking about history, then you are talking about games like CvS2, and if you want to talk about that, then you can’t claim unrivaled Japanese superiority, because they didn’t have that in CvS2… Japanese came over here and got beat… Americans went over there and did well… at the highest levels, the game got to be pretty even.

Oh no, I know Japan got wrecked in Marvel I’m not denying that. And yes, maybe we did dominate in ST and CvS2, but being better in 3 games is not saying a whole lot considering we get raped in pretty much every other fighting game by them. And like I said before, OVERALL Japan has dominated us in fighting games. Point blank. They’ve been better at more games than us for a LONG time, therefore they have dominated us. Yes, we’ve beat them a few times here and there, but when it comes down to it, they are better and to say that SUDDENLY, OUT OF NOWHERE we’re gonna start beating them even though they’ve owned us for free for so long is, in my book, pretentious

I don’t know, I suppose old school SF players are just far too prideful to admit that Japan is and will always be better. Unless the US shrinks about 6 times in size and arcades start becoming popular again, that’s the way things will always be .
