The one and only Rico Suave

Thing with that is I’m pretty sure they can quick stand.

damn i forgot to bring my popcorn. i need to come into the abel forum a little more.

Heh, It’s easy to watch a fight behind a screen, it’s very diffrent when you’re the one playing the match… gotta love when people back seat play, ‘’ He coulda done this or went for this and that’’ trust go to a tournament scene and have a bunch of people screaming in the back ground and also while doing this think what your enemy is thinking, and try not to drop combos etc etc but till you can post a vid of you doing all that, and against some one good, ill give you credit.

I respect this comment, i agree with you, i notice i do have to play it ‘‘lame’’ sometime when it favors me… but… i like chasing down people lol… some one said i should block more often yeah… right… abel doesnt have any good reversal, so i wouldn’t wanna be ‘‘blocking’’ all day i don’t mind taking some hits

That’s what I’m talkin’ about! Rush DOOOOoooown! haha That match at BA7 was good shit. Very exciting and fun to watch. Alas, it is true that you kinda gave the fight away but that shit was still epic.

Talented Abels are so fun to watch. He’s also one of my most hated opponents when I use Sim

Ooooh i like this. I’d rep you if i could.

Where to begin?

First off, I just discovered this thread, I haven’t visited the Abel forum in awhile.

Second, it really doesn’t matter who the best Abel in America is. If you have an opinion about it, that’s fine… but I honestly don’t care. I don’t want to be the best Abel in America, I want to be the Abel who beats Justin Wong, or Daigo. I want to win EVO.

I plan to attend Final Round in March, so we’ll see how i do there. I’d love to go other regional tournaments, but I’m too poor for that. I need lots of advance planning to do a trip like that.

All the vids of me on youtube are pretty much against AZ opponents. If you think that JaeronMerc, MrSNK, Danimitsu, or Sabre are bad players then slap yourself. That said, I do believe that Californian and east coast opponents will provide a difficult challenge… but I have no reason to doubt myself. I’m completely confident in all of my matchups and in my yomi… I look forward to meeting those players and showing them why Abel is A Tier.

Listen, Rico, if you could read you would see that in later posts I said I was a scrub because I haven’t fought anyone good. Obviously I understand the pressure one must feel when entering a tournament, and obviously I understand that people do tend to drop combos/forget the fundamentals of their character when your under said pressure.
I was just writing what I observed, point blank.
This is why the US will never be anywhere near as good as Japan, it’s like instead of maybe taking some constructive criticism for what it’s worth, US players get all offended when you try to point out flaws in their game. It’s like, if you can’t take the criticism that comes with playing on that kind of stage then you should just put down the stick and start pushing pencils for a living.
Again, maybe my criticism was a bit unwarranted, but instead of bashing people for having an opinion maybe it’d be a bit smarter to tell that person why said opinion is flawed (like hfz already did)
I think if more of us followed that philosophy, we’d all benefit from it and become better players in the process, so MAYBE one day we can stack up with guys like Daigo/Nemo/Mago/ect.

I gotta say, taking criticism from randoms was never part of why I started playing SF, and is definitely one of the most annoying parts of this new influx of people in the scene. Everyone thinks they know what they’re talking about; everyone feels like their opinion should be valued, despite a lack of qualifications, and everyone knows why the US can never beat Japan at anything, despite the fact that we’ve done it before…

I play for the Hate. However this Rico guy is a joke. All I see is a generic rushdown Abel to prays to god that his command grabs land and his pre-school jabs xx mk -> throw set ups work.

Hell you don’t even play most match-ups to their strength or even use his cross up game. I’m simply not impressed by this. (At least most people with a lick of sense would X-Copy japs  and attempt to build from there.)

Sure that’ll beat scrubs but against better players it will simple fail.

Gotta love some good ol fan service… “Oh I’m from N.Y.” You know how we roll here… C’mon if you were from N.Y. you would know that you have to earn respect in the community. Oh these kids are bad oh they’re trash… W/e nigz just another boo boo ass ( Oh yeah ) trying to make a name for himself with shit that doesn’t even belong to him.

My Honda will wipe his sweaty fat ass with your Abels face.

P.S. Fuck you Hav. Shit’s true but later on I most certianly improved.

:lovin: :lovin:

Off topic post: i mean while theyre still in the air and in juggle state

sometimes i wish the US wasnt so fuckin big or Online play was lagless

If there’s one advantage of playing street fighter in Europe, its that there’s alot of people in a concentrated area = good connections.

But obviously im a scrub, and online play means nothing

now I know I’m somewhat new to the scene (really started playing SF around 2004-ish) but when exactly did the US beat Japan?
And even if we did beat them once in the past, we will never be able to beat them consistently. I mean, we sent the best guys in the US over there for SBO and they got spanked (I know it’s single elem but still no excuse for Jwong and co. to all get bounced in the first round)
They send one guy over here and he wipes up everyone for free, an official Japan vs. US SF4 tourney would be free beyond belief, I don’t think anyone can argue that.
And damn, VERY strong words from SNK, but yeah, I share similar sentiments when it comes to Ricos’ overall skill. He has potential, but for people to put him on this pedestal and call him the best Abel in NA was just crazy
EDIT: And also, even if the advice people give isn’t good or helpful, you shouldn’t be rude like “Ugh! Why would you even say that! Everyone knows that! BLAH!” it’s just not productive for the community in general. Do we have to go back to preschool here? "If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all"
All it does is start unnecessary beef and further splits apart the NA SF community

…and he meant that AFTER getting hit by the ex wheel kick, your opp can quickstand. If you end your combo with a falling sky, they cant quickstand.

I think despite the US being so big… you could always start by gathering people and starting your own community to play offline with. Like a club or summin. If there’s no scene where you are, sometimes the next best thing to do is start one, no matter how small. And i’m not just talking out of my ass, i have friends who are doing this right now, sure the level might not be that high, but improvements can be seen weekly.

Online play is meh. I have a good connection but I still dont really play online anymore, offline is where most of the fun at imo.

Very true, but the thing is (Atleast where I live) people would rather play COD or Halo them spend time getting good at a fighting game. I’m pretty much the only SF player I know IRL. Plus, unless you wanna roll with a troupe of pad players, for every in your group to go out and get a stick can be a bit…Pricey.
But yeah, in theory, with the right group of people this is very conceivable. I was actually thinking of doing something like this, but no one I know is dedicated enough…

well you never know until you actually try. plus you wont be needing too many sticks, only two. and regarding people who prefers halo/cod… well, if its indeed that bad, i dont know what to say but surely there are going to be people in your area who plays the game. maybe just start with close friends, mini gatherings/casuals/training and then expand.

nothing’s wrong with rolling with a troupe of pad players, a scene is a scene, maybe later you can convince them to switch to sticks etc… cant afford to discriminate between sticks/pads player at this time imo … plus pad players can still kick your ass haha.

of course a few ppl needs to put in extra effort to make this work.

just my 2 cents

Fuck it. This thread is now just pure comedy.

Gotcha.

anyways i just want an Abel to get #1 place at a big tourney or convincingly beat Wong or somethin
