The old SRK and the new SRK

I’m not posting to bring up some old shit or say the old srk is better than the new, but I just recently found some old saved threads on some back up discs I had, and it still amazes me just HOW much this place has changed.

I’m lookin’ at the old red and black forum and it’s so small. We could put different fonts in our signatures, we didn’t have a sig limit, premium had just come about after they took it away when they stopped doing the B-series donations. Galaga ships are still here, the front page has Apex ratings, … wow. Still got that evil lookin’ Ryu on the front page of the red and black forums. An older thread I have still had the Karma system and there’s a bunch of threads about A-chan. lol Zero owned the Nintendo cereal system and Drunkengameplayer was owning folks and Acesmith wasn’t. lol Before me and RunningUppercut started SRKGD and we had the SRK AIM chats that were out of fucking control.

Pryde has the same avatar now that he had aaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllll the way back then. lol Weeks was SakuraForever. What a fucking gay name.

I’m looking thru the threads and seeing names we don’t see any more like Infamous CBear, Orangecat, Calibur, Jive Turkey Jones, girldark, tejio, Fenrir 171, Insaniac2, Anubis, RunningUppercut… I wonder what happened to these people? People I considered cool as fuck. I wonder what they’re doing and why they don’t post any more. I hope that where ever they are things are going well for them. I hope they’re doing well and that one day they’ll pop up to talk about the new shit here like Baby Armor, or Carpet Lint’s resurrection and laugh at all the dumb shit that’s happened here in the last couple of years.

Some of Mummy-B’s posts are there too and it makes me laugh cause I can hear him saying all the stuff that’s typed on the page. I fuckin’ miss that kid.

I also see names that are still here. Namingway, nobita Kun, Lil Koopsta, Gandido, Bowling Pin, Geese Pants, Dasrik, Unreallystic, Goku3x (aka Pained Auron), Ducky, ytwojay, Orangemegaslide, DJ B13, Shinblanka, and a whole bunch more. I’ve only got a few threads and I’m seeing so many names that are still here. I’m glad you mother fuckers are still with us. I’m not trying to leave people out, but I’ve only found a few threads I had saved.

This place is and will probably always be dynamic. It’s got it’s ups and downs and lookin’ at that old shit, I don’t go “I wish SRK was still like this” I just wish some of you newer cats were here to see it cause it was a fuckin’ trip.

Ha ha, I found an old av that me and ViciousSLASH made of girldark bringing me some chicken and getting some of this “WHITE POWER”. lol fuckin A.

I’ve been here since late 2000, and finally signed up in 2001. I’ve been here damn near 6 years. Been to three Evos, continued to help run the biggest tournament in the South (Final Round X, be there bitches!) met countless people from here I consider friends and I’ve banned like 1000 people. What a weird experience this place has been.

Definitely brings back some funny ass memories.

Good shit, man. Memories indeed. I miss Mummy too man. Late night AIM convos were always fun with him, and I seem to be able to speak to very few SRK members, so those convo’s meant something to me.

And 2001 grad’s for life, homie.

I’ve been here like 5 years (FUCK) but I never really considered myself a member until 2005. This is the only one of two forums I post on nowadays, and the only one I visit regularly.

Oh damn. The “Jaha teaches pimpology thread”. That shit went on forever. The fighters.net migration was also classic. How about Chun Li the SRK cookie lady. The comedic genius, Adept. StumP, the village idiot. TacoChan was like…the finest chic ever to grace SRK. Wish those peeps were still around.

SRK is awesome. It was awesome then, and it’s still awesome, just in a different way. I miss some of the peeps we’ve lost over the years but I’m glad we still have a lot of folks hanging around.

As long as bandwidth flows through its veins I’m gonna keep posting here.

I remember 2001. I just lurked like a muhfucka during the beginning of that year and finally joined. I miss the old SRK and it is cool how everything transformed in the past 6 years I’ve been here.

Some of you new school cats that have been like “God damn, Gotti posts paragraphs and shit” don’t know how it used to be. I remember when I had to start getting rid of the racists and shit that were here in 2002 and 2003. That shit was ridiculous. It seemed like I had to go up against damn near every person in the forum for some of the decisions I made. It was bananas.

I keep hearing about the old SRK and wish I was around to see it. Even though I really don’t consider myself a ‘member’ here now anyway, I mean come on, no one knows who the fuck I am, but it would have been better than all the anime boards I visited during that time.

Nothing like making a cheap 8-10 man tourney just for a fun fight and to see your name on the front of SRK the next day.

And I never really posted much on GD, just around the so-cal threads. But I always pop up for these topics bout the good old days.

The new SRK kind of stinks… I lurk here hoping to catch some entertainment…

Seems that SRK died when MvC2 died… afterall, it is when most of the funny people left… I mean… there’s still a few members, but overall, that old population has been depleted, left with a terribly insipid posterity.
