Still have my Sega master system and I’m always saying that SMS>NES. I remember getting beat up at school because I was defending my system. 100$ got you two controllers, a light gun, 2 games ( hang on and safari hunt). Those were the days…
The Master System needs no other justification than Phantasy Star.

Aargh, I can’t find a good translation of Romancing Saga 3. To my knowledge, there doesn’t seem to be one. FFIII is cool though, nothing like old school Final Fantasy.
Hehehe. Speaking of oldschool. The Hinata av. Oldschool, but it never gets old.

I’ve always been of the opinion that TRUE old school is something like Atari and Commodore 64 (kudos to you if you know a single game on that system). Something like 29+ years.
I just never really considered Master System/Genesis/NES/SNES for old some reason. I guess because they’re around the same age I am
It’s refreshing to read this thread. Everyone I know thinks I’m crazy because I have a ps3 and a 360 and don’t play any games on them. I use the ps3 to play ps1/ps2 games and that’s it. I’m not sure if I’ve even beaten one of those games.
Oh and a big eye roll to all those people at work who say they’re all hardcore gamers yet only play post halo FPS’s, guitar hero and rock band:rofl:
Actually, the real old school is the goddamned arcade.
Atari is where you go when you’re willing to settle for eating 3/4 of a dot in Pac-Man.
The last Genesis game I really got into was Battle Mania 2 (Trouble Shooter Vintage) a few months back. Not very hard as scrolling shooters go (I could actually finish it, which means it was accessible once you got the hang of it). But a fun game, and cool presentation. I played the Japanese version, but there’s a patch that allows you to play it in English.

Just to spread some more SEGA love, I love me some Shining Force, still. And all of you Castlevania fans should check out Bloodlines (USA)/New Generation(UK etc)/Vampire Killer(JPN). It’s worth checking out if you’re a fan of the series.
I actually haven’t played any of my consoles since Evo a few months ago. Maybe I’ll fire up the Saturn and hop on some Christmas NiGHTS or Shining Force III or something.
Media like comic books and movies are categorized by different ‘ages,’ video games should get the same treatment.
Wonder Boy III.
No shit.
I’ve been playing through Knuckles Chaotix again after finishing Sonic Generations, however something may be wrong with my av cables. I can play for about 15 minutes and then the screen goes black and white, still have sound though. I’m surprised after all these years I can still do the special stages perfectly. I hope this gets released for Xbox Live/PSN eventually. At least we’re getting Sonic CD.
The only other 32X game I have is Metal Head which is a mech game. It’s not the greatest game ever but it has some great music.
