You did finish Skyward Sword right? And what about it did you think was boring? Just curious.
No, I didn’t finish it. I got bored. There’s literally hundreds of games that are after my attention.
Let’s see after trudging through about an hour of “trigger the cutscene” I ran through the first few temples (but not too much, then he gets tired).
During the fire one it all really came to me: “This is super lame”.
The combat? Oh look he blocked one way, let me slash the other way with slight delay… yay…
The items? Oh look a boomerang that’s more of a pain in the ass and bombs that I can bowl with!
Fi and every character and sign patronizing me every five seconds?
THAT FUCKING BIRD!!!
The complete lack of any exploration.
How boring it is to run around when you need to stop every 10 seconds.
How dead easy everything is. I rushed in on every boss with no fear (except the sword guy, who I’ll get to after this) because there are hearts everywhere.
The first boss is some fruity guy who challenges me to a duel and it is fucking HARD but it’s not real difficulty it’s Wii Motion Plus’s everything is off by half a second difficulty.
The story has gone from typical Zelda plot to typical anime plot (and not the fun over the top ones either), someone told me the bully is a good guy in the end. I so called that.
As a game it’s mediocre and as a Zelda game… I’d go on record saying every game is better than this one with the exception of the CDi, I wanna say Spirit Tracks, didn’t play it long enough to say (or at all, not even sure).
hmmm…that’s the first I’ve heard someone complaining about the running/stamina function in the game. Can’t fault you for it really but since that’s going to fall under mmv I suppose. At least you actually got past getting the sword lol. Sorry you had delay on your slashes man.
Also…this pretty much sums up Fi lol

Fi being John Madden throughout the game was really the blemish on that game for me but her character was robotic in nature so I wasn’t expecting much out of that…even at the end.
Lack of exploration I find a bit hard to believe unless you’re talking specifically about the design of Skyworld. Because of the nature of how they designed the game, the moment you land on the ground below you’re pretty much in a dungeon. They tried to do something different in that regard instead of having ‘a big open world with nothing to do’ in it that I see so many complaints about online for some of the older zeldas( WW and TP more so than any of them) now a days. I’m starting to think at this point that regardless of what the Zelda teams do with this aspect there’s going to be some detractors…Can’t please everyone.
I’d be ok with being in a big dungeon, but that so doesn’t feel that way it just feels limiting.
Also, the delay exists for everyone, it’s a known issue with the Wii Motion Plus.
Overall, they can do much better and they know it.
If there’s a delay in this game it’s either pretty small or I was that into the game while I was playing it. The controls worked extremely well for me and pretty much at east 98% of what I wanted to do attack wise was recognized with great accuracy. That’s why I said ‘I’m sorry’ because I didn’t experience the same thing.
I thought the delay was a technical fact.
Also, I edited that list like 400 times.
I never experienced any kind of delay.
Nice oversimplified list by the way.
$249.99 doesn’t seem like a bad rumor price, $299.99 would be ok. Any more than that would be pushing it I think. If it was at $249.99 I’d have more incentive to use the saved money on more titles.
Either way, I do really want one. No idea why, but here’s hoping the social options and online gaming experience are good.
As far as I know personally I’ve never heard of it being a technical fact but I wouldn’t put anything past there being like maybe what… slightly less than half a second of delay possibly? When reading people’s impressions on the game on Gaf and from customers who have played the game I haven’t really seen anybody make that complaint before. And the reviewers who happened to give the game meh scores didn’t make any mention about any sort of delay either, they may have said something about not being able to have motionplus work properly for them in some ways but nothing about there being lag as far as I remember.
Now I’m reading your other stuff and whoa…that’s quite harsh lol. I believe someone else in the Zelda thread at some point said they were experiencing lag too so I’m not discrediting your experience…I’m just saying I’m sorry you had that. The whole point of Ghirahim is supposed be a reality check in the game design. You’re supposed to be patient with him and if you’re not he’ll make you look like a chump.
Your issues with the plot being less Zelda like I can’t really agree or disagree with considering the fact that’s pretty much part of Aonuma’s plan to shake up the series with this game. I don’t know how you get ‘typical anime’ plot from it though…mind going into that a bit further?
I had a thought on the rumored pricing options…They could easily have a pricing option that has Nintendoland come with it. Easily would have to be the highest one that would somewhat offset the cost and would also save the customer some money as well. If they went that route and the Nintendoland bundle came with some type of harddrive space that’d easily be the one to get for me. 4 more days!
I don’t care that the plot is “not Zelda” is desperately needs something new but this “mixup” is just a different set of cliches, maybe “anime” wasn’t the best word.
The delay on Wii Motion Plus is very real, some people are just more sensitive to lag.
$250 would be great as long as its not a nerfed version.
Will you provide the data behind this claim? I’m not saying you’re lying or anything like that. I just haven’t experienced it, know anyone that’s experienced it (amongst my community of friends that are obsessive fighting game/shmup players very sensitive to lag) or read about it. So I’d like some insight into it.
@Sonichuman: Good call. I bet you’re right. Hope so too. I’d definitely buy the Nintendoland bundle.
I’ll be honest, all I have is anecdotal evidence and the Zero Punctuation review (which is arguably more anecdotal evidence).
Zero Punctuation I wouldn’t even consider to be good anecdotal evidence in lag…this is the same guy who thinks fighters are nothing but mashing buttons.
The dude knows NOTHING about competitive games.
Other games though? He’s usually right on the money.
I can’t agree with that. If consumers only paid attention to what ZP said then barely anybody would be playing anything. He’s funny and he has good points on things but I can’t take him seriously as a reviewer…that’s my opinion though.
Well yeah, he’s a huge cynic but all the points are valid.
At least he’s got credibility, he’s like the only person who gets paid to review who has that.
We’re apparently getting materials from Nintendo this week among them having to do with putting up the Wii U section…yeah…I think it’s pretty safe to say that we aren’t gonna get trolled Thursday…
Edit:
Andriasang is closing up it’s website
PROFOUND…SADNESS…
G.I. also has an exclusive trailer for the balloon trip breeze minigame on NintendoLand
I have Tekken, Pikmin and Mario on reserve right now.
Hoping to reserve the system this week.
Just beat The Last Story nice change of pace after playing Xenoblade. I think I missed a lot of stuff though a 2nd run will have to wait until I finish some other stuff I haven’t even started playing.
