The Official Wii U thread V.1.1 - Sun Sets on Wii U, Switch Over In March

He helped with it. Most of the development was Chair Entertainment which is a subsidiary of Epic Games.

So,has youtube stopped working in browser for you guys too? The app version is ass.

The app version of anything is ass. Just a over glorified desktop shortcut. I believe the youtube one had a recent update too.

And yeah I’ve had some problems with it too. Not a shock with these forums.

Hmmm…that’s funny…I was just watching Game Grumps on this yesterday. I wonder if this is Youtube’s doing or something?

Edit: I’m dowloading the update for the youtube app to see if it’s gotten any better…that would suck if Youtube had a hand in making it not function on the internet browser for some silly reason like ‘We want people to use our shitty app dammit!’

I’m not having too much of a problem with the youtube app playing vids…but the format of this thing does not seem user friendly. The only thing this seems to have over watching it on the web browser is the fact the video plays at a higher definition. But then I lose the ability to bring the vid to the game pad which I actually dig and if I had to make a choice between the 2 I’d rather have decent quality with gamepad functionality then high def quality and no gamepad functionality…my 2 cents.

Rayman Legends demo is up and a Sonic Racing Transformed demo is up as well

I also want to say it looks like the game is still $40 so it was a goof on the part of the GS ad.

Target seems to be doing a B2G1 free on Wii U games next week…You guys might want to hit them up

Edit: I found out Egoraptor’s and JonTron’s ID’s through a gamegrump episode and put them on follow. This could provide some entertainment.

I actually read that some Target stores are selling Darksiders 2 for $40 maybe I can get that, Sonic and the free one? I’ll give it a shot anyway.

So I just finished playing the Rayman Legends demo and the first stage (Teensies in Trouble) seems to have been a bit redone from the one on the Wii Kiosk. And for the better I might add. The A.I. seems to be even smarter now save for the one time that it didn’t save that guy tied up who was right beside him lol. Castle Rock is pretty much unchanged. Toad Story is an all new level that not on the Wii Kiosks that pretty fun. The art for this game is so good and the music for the Toad Story stage sounded magical. Download the demo when you guys get a chance.

There’s a rumor about the 1st 2 Mass Effects possibly getting ported onto Wii U.

That’s nice i guess but considering the way you guys kinda took a dump on ME3 for the system I kinda have mixed feelings about this. Supposedly they also say they have more plans for the system regarding the ME franchise on this system but don’t have anything to say right now.

NFS Most Wanted coming in March 12th

that’s cool I guess…more 3rd party the better. Just so long as they take it seriously.

Play limit on Wii U demos set by Publishers, Nintendo says

CliffyB intends to start a new studio, make a new IP

So now that he’s finally announced it, my next prediction is he may dabble in some iOS projects but his main “pan for gold” will most likely be VR/AR based projects (most likely the reason he left epic was due to his huge interest in the oculus rift)

The oculus rifts developer kit release date has been pushed back from this month to march. They’ve added a larger screen and a camera for AR compatibilities. Nobody knows who oculus has made deals with, could be nintendos secret weapon having compatibility for it.

One thing mentioned by developers is the fact the pacing of games need to evolve to be of better use for VR (which I knew already) so we probably won’t see any ports but will see adaptations of existing games.

It seems pretty obvious this is the main goal but who knows what things he’ll do to get there.

I’m hoping for Bioshock Infinite VR

We discussing Cliffy B in here? How about a new Jazz Jackrabbit? or a sequel to One Must Fall: 2097? OMF is a very underrated fighter IMO and should be on everyone’s list of fighting game franchises that need to be revived next to Killer Instinct.

Youtube’s newest redesign is terrible. It doesn’t work on PC either and a chore to navigate. Don’t be surprised it’s also broken on the Wii U.

I don’t know why people are up in arms over this. The publishers set the limit, but most people blame Nintendo for implementing the idea. Someone can get shot, but we don’t blame the store selling the gun. Some people on there even had the nerve to say that giving a publisher options is a bad idea, turning this into another case of “damned if they do, damned if they don’t” for Nintendo. I don’t think those people knew what Nintendo was like in the past.

I just found out that DLC and patch certification is completely free for publishers on the Wii U. That is amazing. I don’t even think Steam(?) lets those be free. I could be wrong, though. I know PSN/Live charges 10,000$ per patch after the first couple of free ones.

This is actually a page out of Steam’s playbook. Like someone else said earlier when it was posted up, this essentially is going to put Sony and Microsoft on notice…less so Sony. It’ll be interesting to see how they react come this E3 for their new consoles.

It really shouldn’t be a super big serious issue unless it’s a game like DMC or Bayonetta where there’s actually a lot of depth to the game that can be found out through experimentation and repetition. You seriously have to also count the fact that the number of times you can play the demo only goes down when you are going into the demo, once in you play it as much as you want without the number of tries going down. If you really don’t thing many people need more than 10 tries to determine if they are going to invest in buying a game or not.

Looks like some new trailers got put up for MH3 Ultimate

Quick question: Does the Wii U pro controller have force feedback?

Also, if anyone owns one… how’s the weight on it? I’m pondering over buying one today but I can’t stand a really light-weight game pad.

hmmmmm…comparing it to the 360 controller…it’s about the same weight. Yes the controller does rumble. I thought that the controller wouldn’t have rumble as a sacrifice to get the 80 hours of battery life but nope…that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Awesome, thanks.

I think your average consumer doesn’t care/know about things like this. I mean, people pay a fee to play **PEER 2 PEER **online multiplayer games on Xbox Live.

It’d be great if they did, though. I know Sony/MS/etc get a cut of all games/DLC sold, so their patching/DLC system should be free, since it’d potentially sell them more games.

It’s more of a good thing for developers and publishers, but its definitely nice from a consumer point of view if it potentially gets us more content.

I’m not talking about the average consumer knowing about it…that doesn’t matter like you said. I’m talking about the choice that now has to come into play. Will Microsoft or Sony sacrifice that bit of income to try to stay on the level with this? Or will they roll the dice and continue to charge developers for patches and DLC since they still currently have the largest share of the core audience?

This is a game-changer and a smart move by Nintendo to make up for how horribly they treated 3rd party developers in the past. Even for bigger publishers that can afford the fees that Sony/Microsoft charges, it will be a boon because they could very well release a title on the Wii U first. That way, any bugs that would need to be patched would already be included before the discs are printed for the other 2 consoles. It’s not just about saving money, it’s also about saving time because Nintendo’s certification process is a lot quicker.

Those Monster Hunter vids are looking nice here’s hoping Capcom has voice chat in time for the western release.
