The Official Wii U thread V.1.1 - Sun Sets on Wii U, Switch Over In March

Lynn Kyle is too plain a Slayers name.

Show is LIVE!

Oh shit Bunkei vs Beta in a TTT2 deathmatch.

I played a bit with the controller on 2 occasions 1 being for Darksiders 2 and the other being for ZombiU multiplayer. If you’ve gotten used to the shape of the 360 controller then you’ll be right at home save for 2 things…the switching of the second analog stick with the buttons and the digital triggers. The one big pro that this controller has automatically over the 360 controller is that the dpad is automatically better…to be honest that’s not really hard to do lol. Personally I don’t mind the digital triggers but I can see people who people who enjoy racing games prefering the triggers to be analog. I’ve played Sonic Racing Transformed a ton on the Dpad and anytime I may need to actually step off the gass a bit i just do it old school style by tapping the gas as necessary. The 2nd analog and the button switchover is going to fuck with you for at least a few plays and it won’t be until you play something where you need that dexterity in a moderate manner that you realize how much it will fuck with you lol. When I tried playing Darksiders to with it my right hand was completely confused at time when I was trying to manuver the camera and use the buttons and then when playing ZombiU multiplayer that demanded far more from me so that pretty much forced me to get used to the controls. I can only imagine how people playing Blops 2 were feeling at first.

Overall I like the controller and the fact that this thing lasts 80 hours is great. The 2 things that I personally would do to improve it would be moving the 2nd analog stick a bit further away from the buttons. I want to say it’s just because I’m still not 100% used to the switch but it just feels too close to the x button…I don’t have that issue on the gamepad. 2nd thing would be the obvious of putting a headphone jack into the controller.

Edit:

awwww…I thought the stream I would have been able to watch later…disappointment…

IGN has a nice little article on 20 notable studios that went belly up this year

supposedly there’s at least 35 if you include smaller operations. That’s in comparison to the 12 that were lost in 2011. The industry is going to get real interesting in the next few years if the recent well known people leaving some of the bigger companies isn’t a sign. There was an interview that the guys had with Cliffy B at the VGA’s where it definitely sounded like the grind of the Triple A games was getting to him…I wish I could find it.

How it feels to play black ops? (Shrugs) isn’t the whole point of shooting shooting as fast as possible?

I think having the option to aim and shoot surpasses the analog C3P0 aiming anyway.

Kart racing games should be fine, it’s racing sims that will be a problem. People should have wheels anyway

The industry is changing, don’t be surprised if cliffy turns up with his own company

…?

When I’m talking about Blops 2 and the controller, I’m talking about people who jump online immediately with the game and are used to playing it on PS3 and 360 and having to get used to the 2nd analog sticks placement and buttons. A game like that where you’re constantly shifting and turning the camera about so that you are aware of your surroundings in first person and where 1 second of hesitation could get you killed in a face off. I’m just saying it’s going to take some getting used too especially since your hands tend to operate on muscle memory if you’ve played the game enough. That’s what I’m talking about.

He’s planning something…he said he was in the interview.

Ohh yeah i see! That’s what happens when I half read people’s posts  yeah it probably does feel weird for them but as Bruce lee say “do not look at the finger, or you will DIE!!!”

With the whole movement to VR/AR, mobile gaming, more power to indie game makers, and evolutions in peripherals it’s a good time for cliffy b or anyone to start up something new. These “small companies” closing down were striving to become a big money company

Hudson went under? Damn it. :frowning: RIP Master Higgins and Bomberman.

Yeah…Hudson as we know them doesn’t exist anymore. Konami right now has control over their IP’s but as of right now they aren’t doing much with them.

I hate when companies acquire IPs and don’t do anything with them. I’m still waiting for a new Ogre Battle game, but it’s just not happening.

Yeah Cliffy B really needed a break. Was hoping Unreal Tournament 4 would happen someday too but I understand. Not like he has anything left to prove anyway. Plus for -how- many years has he been swimming in money?

After Gears I’m sure he had far more than he knew what to do with. It’s not even just him that left Epic though. Mike Capps stepped down and Rod Fergusson left to go join Irrational and the Bioshock Infinite team. I’m still hype for Gears: Judgment but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t concerned.

Judgments being made by People Can Fly tho, those guys are pretty good.

I’d rather see Cliffy B return to his 2D game roots and make something Metal Slug-ish. Not that I hate Gears or anything; I love those games. Just always thought Marcus and co. would look great drawn in MS style as guest characters in MS8.

I’d love to see another Metal Slug, a shame SNK is in such fucked up state.

Did Cliffy B work on Shadow Complex, or was that just Epic Games?
