Playing Mario Bros. in HD is so boss. I also love how much the world maps remind me of Super Mario World. I kinda bought Darksiders II on a whim. I never played the first one, but so far I’m enjoying it. It looks great on WiiU and the music really surprised me. Videogame music isn’t as good as it used to be, so it’s always pleasant surprise when it catches me.
I thought the (huge) GamePad would take a while to get used to, but I actually adapted to it really quick. The online/MiiVerse stuff is much more than I expected it to be. I kinda like it.
You guys that have a WiiU already, add me if you want. I need some Wii friends. ID is LynnKyle
Only things I know about its online is that if you are playing it on the Wii U, you should have it and probably the NA version should be free. Otherwise, you know folk with the 3DS version, they can play with you locally via crossplay type deal.
Given the differences in the Wii U online structure, it is possible there might be some differences in how Capcom/Nintendo setup the lobby and such.
I sent you a friend request and I’ll also add you to the front.
Nothing has been announced so far in ‘improving’ the online quite yet. The netcode for Tri was pretty solid with some small hiccups here and there and so far it seems Wii U’s online infrastructure is pretty solid. I’ll be getting TTT2 this month so hopefully I’ll be able to test out how good it really is by my own hands but I think it’ll be most telling when a 2d fighter gets released on the system.
I don’t remember exactly what was said but I do remember that something about the Nintendo Network was coming to the 3DS in some capacity. checks. Hmmm…
I guess there’s going to be some type of version of Miiverse coming to the 3DS but I seriously doubt it’s going to be THIS involved. I can’t imagine how much space Miiverse takes up alone in terms of space…they’d probably have to shrink it down some for the 3DS.
I am intrigued by this…
This reminds me…I forgot to post this.
The Cave - Character Trailer 1

Maybe this could just be the beginning? Never know…
Somethings I wanted to mention that I had to type in my phone so I wouldn’t forget… Sonic Racing Transformed looks like it jump back up to 60 bucks starting next week if what the ad we have at work is anything to go buy. Please don’t miss this opportunity to steal this game at $40 while you still can…that’s REGARDLESS of which system you own.
There’s also a Stereo Turtle beach headset that’s 39.99 at work that has wii branding and everything on it that has caught my eye.
I’m actually quite interested in this and I may end up picking up one of these this month or ask for it for christmas. I’m trying to check for some reviews to see if they’re any good.
I have yet to use my Wii U Pro controller since I first took it out of the box…I just can’t put the pad down lol. I’ll probably put it through it’s paces when I sit down to dig through Darksiders 2 and TTT2.
Has anyone played NSMBWU and been watching the TV and then unconsciously shift your eyes to the pad and not even notice that you’ve done so until later?
The Wal Mart that I work at in my lil ol’ town finally got just 2 systems in (One Basic and One Deluxe). I snagged the Deluxe and put on it layaway so I can pick it up %20 off on associate appreciation day this week. I’m thinking of getting a game with it that day,so what would you guys say is the must be played title for it right now?
Must be played title? My vote goes to ZombiU…2nd goes to NSMBWU and 3rd goes to Sonic Racing Transformed unless you’ve already bought that on the other consoles.
I just noticed they put a UPlay Miiverse forum community up and also updated Miiverse with that crappy ass game Marvel Avengers and the pretty sure equally garbage Rise of the Gardians game wlong with Family Party. The good thing to come out of this is that we’ll probably end up seeing some random Marvel drawings get posted up on Miiverse lol.
Nintendo should be having a direct at some point this month to talk more about what they have planned for the beginning of next year…and it could just happen at any moment this month too considering their recent track records.
Oh if only they really did.
The %20 off is the only reason I’m even thinking of getting a Wii U right now. Seeing as how I have no idea what else to use the discount on. lol
I was originally going to wait like a year to get one.
Yeah ZombiU and Mario were what I was thinking of getting. I’ve been reading good things about both in this thread since I posted.
One thing I haven’t seen mentioned is the feel of the gamepad. Like how well does it grip and how comfortable is the layout? Seeing as how it’s kinda larger than the usual in your hand controller.
This was actually a pretty good read. Did a pretty good job of breaking down each component and what not and how they work together. This only further confirms what I said earlier though…We won’t know what the system is really capable of until a year or 2 down the road and if that article is any indication…3rd parties will have to conform more of their titles to take advantage of the architecture instead of just taking the game they made on the 360 and just cramming it into the system.
Also I’m wondering if that rumor aboutnext xbox’s CPU is true or not…That rumor came from the same guy who hacked the Wii U.
I was actually being quite serious about the 20 percent, I just laughed because it was walmart. When I worked at target our discount was only 10 percent and we could not use it on major electronics like systems and tvs and such. So I think that is pretty good, it pretty much nets you a free game and if you go to toys r us you can do the buy 1 get 1 50 percent off.
We have a %10 discount that can be used at all times on everything except most groceries (there are a few exceptions). They’re letting those of us that worked Black Friday have a %20 discount on one whole checkout as a show of “appreciation”. lol
What is the buy 1 get 1 %50 off at Toys r us? I wouldn’t know about it since the closest one to here closed down and turned into a best buy. lol
Well that makes sense especially with all the controversy with walmart and black Friday.
The buy 1 get 1 at 50 percent off is for video games and video game accessories I believe. The ad came to my door earlier today and I can’t seem to find it to verify. I think it is still going on so if you wanted two games you could save a little bit more money.
Awesome. I’ll add you back when I get on in a little while.
The more I mess around with the WiiU features, the more I am pleasantly surprised. As mentioned by others in the thread, wow, the internet browser on the GamePad is gdlk! I can already see it becoming my main device for leisurely surfing the web at home. Browsing Netflix menu’s runs WAY smoother than my PS3, too. I can’t really compare it to Netflix on 360 because I never use it since I hate the way the search is on it. But yeah, it’s really slick on WiiU. I can’t help but feel like I want some sort of trophy/achievement system, though. When achievements were first introduced I didn’t really give a rat’s ass about 'em. But they’ve really grown on me over the years and they really do motivate me to get more outta my games and extend their life. I hope they decide to implement something in the future. Coins would be ideal in my opinion… with the classic Mario Bros. coin sound effect.
I don’t hold achievements in the same regard as you, but it would be cool if the points you get could be used to purchase digital goods like wallpapers or something. Just having the trophies doesn’t do much for me, and most of the time the requirements to get them require a lot of grinding.
From what I read on NeoGaf, the guy has never lied and everything he said about the Wii U prior to launch turned out to be true.
But really, it’s a no brainer. There’s no way the next Xbox’s clock speed will be anywhere near the X360’s for one reason: HEAT
For PC enthusiasts, we went through this 7 years ago with Intel/AMD … Increasing the clock speed doomed the Pentium 4 with overheating issues, so instead Intel starting designing a new architecture that favored getting more out of each clock cycle rather than how fast the cycle is completed. Doing more with less. That architecture debuted with the Intel Core brand; it was a gamechanger because even with the dramatically lower clock speeds, it would destroy its Pentium 4 predecessor at half the clock speed, thereby generating less heat and consuming less power. For a console, this is crucial because of the space constraints.
So comparing the Xbox’s CPU to the Wii U’s CPU and saying “hey, the Wii U’s clock speed is lower, this is trash!!” would be the equivalent to saying the same about Intel’s Core compared to the Pentium 4. In fact, when the Core chips first came out, the games that were out for PC performed a lot WORSE … that is … until the developers rewrote the code to take advantage of the new architecture and release patches to the public. That’s the one advantage PC gamers have, as they can get updates a lot faster to fix any issues with their games due to being able to deliver updates directly to the public. However, it’s a LOT different for consoles. For one, they have to go through a certification process that can take weeks (and sometimes months), AND the developer has to pay substantial fees for each update submitted to Microsoft/Sony.
Nintendo is getting a LOT of credit because they are not charging developers for releasing or updating their titles for the Wii U (this is especially a big boon for indie developers who may be strapped for cash). Also, developers are praising Nintendo for a faster and less complicated certification process.
I have no doubts that Microsoft’s next console will be a lot more powerful, but the question I have is … how much will that extra “power” cost the consumer?
Well, don’t get wrong, I’m not an OCD platinum hunter or anything. After all, before I recently made a new profile I only had 3 platinum trophies out of 1300, and I don’t think I ever got every achievement on a 360 game. I’d just like to have the option there because sometimes the mood to go for the trophies does strike me. I think a great move for every system/game would be an option to turn off trophies for games where you don’t wanna worry about it. Some achievements are cool, and I like to look back on 'em like, “yeah, I remember doing that shit”, but some of them are just insanely hard and way too frustrating/time consuming.
I like the idea of buying digital goods with achievements and trophies, too.
