The Official Unpopular Food Opinions Thread

Tapatio > Cholula

Phò real. :stuck_out_tongue:
Every phò place I’ve ever been too their largest bowl is $7.25.

Poutine can be very tasty, but it’s embarrassing how Canadians love to pamper it’s reputation as being some kind of national cuisine to be proud of. It’s a fucking lump of fries, cheese and gravy, that’s all it is and that’s all it’ll ever be. There’s nothing refined, complex or unique about it. It’s as bad as English people being proud of fish and chips.

None of us really care about poutine. It just happens to be sold almost everywhere. It’s more of a French thing. Also the cheese and gravy matters, with poutine.

I don’t think I have had it in ages though. Nobody I ever knew makes it, it’s just something most mom and pop joints with deep fryers can make.

What do yanks have that they didn’t steal from superior cultures? Hot dogs? Congrats on inventing sugar, assholes, and lips, as a source of food, you fat behemoths.

Don’t know where you’re at, but I’ve heard all kinds of poutine snobbery in TO. Big smokes covers it’s walls with all kinds of mounted prints of news articles talking about how they have the best poutine blah blah, it’s pretty hilarious. Never been in the US but the typical north american diet looks hella unhealthy to me. I’m south american so i’ve been fairly lucky to enjoy good cuisine and a healthy diet but dear god that bacon, eggs, sausage, pancakes and milk breakfast bullshit is essentially just shoveling in diabetes obesity. I guess diabetes is more related to the intake of sugar and chemicals(which is still quite abundant in this culture’s diet).

Never got the appeal of chips and gravey tbh, all over chips and cheese but soggy chips are the worst.

Im just outsideof TO, and smokies is like the only exclusive poutine place around, and they’re pretty fucking good I’ll give em that. Poutine is mad unhealthy though, I only eat it as a hangover cure.

Ranch dressing is the best condiment ever conceived.

over hot sauce?

healthy chicken always tastes bland or terrible

Modern bbq, souhl foood, steak (arguably), corn, potatoes

Really? Your claiming burning meat as American?

Corn? Natives might wanna have a talk with you…

Potatoes? Ever hear of Ireland?

goddamn lamb curry.

If you want to get really picky and technical with it, potatoes originated in the andean range way before any europeans even knew it existed.

Also what’s this about steak being american. Nearly every single culture has a form of what you’d call a steak. It’s like saying air is american.

Yeah fast food is the lowest of low tier, i didnt mind it when i was younger but as i’ve aged i’ve found myself steering away from it, especially when you consider all the shit in it.

I’ve heard from a couple of people that american chinese food is really shitty, i’ve not experienced it for myself

I will have to agree with about ribs to, for the best part of 30 years i loved ribs but now i cant stand them, i dont mind the smaller in very small doses ones but here in the uk you buy ribs and they are fucking huge, and the meat on them tastes foul, i’ve tried all sorts of marinades a couple of different cooking methods and can say well and truly the love affair is over

I think the chocolate insects are ants and crickets if i remember correctly, i dont remember the country, indonesa thailand or somewhere out there

A couple of bits

lager/ beer (what people think is beer) is low tier so for us uk people shit like fosters carlsberg stella you get the picture, and for the americans shit like labbats coors bud, this stuff is shit, not even svc chaos dan tier.

For the longest time i was a stella man, because i liked it cold but i didn’t know any better, i always though ale ( real beer ) was for old men that smelt like piss and lived in yorkshire, the only one i had ever tried was john smiths bitter (which is a poor beer)
But i moved jobs and a few chaps offered me some ghostship which is brewed by adnams, and to this day i have not touched another lager, the world of difference is like night and day, all i will say is try a few dont just try one beer try 5 or ten and i guarantee you’ll find one you really like.
There’s so many different types all different smells flavors it’s like have an encyclopedia on your tongue, where as shit like lager is full of gas and chemicals and there’s hardly any difference between them, i mean really can you tell the difference between them?
oh yeah one taste like water and the other taste like piss, get on the ales you wont regret it, and for the most part it’s cheaper it’s win win

Shit you can even make your own if you feel adventurous, i’ve not done it myself because of space issues, but i have taste a few homebrews and they were great

Green veg is low tier, cabbage brussels cauliflower and so on, the stuff makes me heave

fish, man fish is great apart from the price and the bones, the meat is great the flavors are great why is it so fucking expensive and so fucking boney, i remember taking about an hour to eat 1 red snapper, and a bone impaling in the roof of my mouth.

italain food is overrated

Peanuts in savory (satay for example) stuff is fucking nasty

yoghurt or cream in savory foods is shit

Chicken breast while to others is like the holy grail to me it’s the blandest driest part of the chicken, only thing that can save it is bbqing it and then it becomes edible, if you can’t eat around skin and bone you need help, it’s the best part

Keyword, arguably. Some techniques and cuts are distinctly American. Potatoes arent irish you dumbass. Get baited. Im talking about foods from Americas in general not just under modern US doctrine.

… So you either didn’t understand my question, or you don’t know how words work.

So glad your education worked out for the best.

Air is American. Prove me wrong.

Air is French
