The Official Toonami Thread: Fight tha powa!

Are you actually implying that HOTD has a story? I don’t hate the show, it just doesn’t seem likely that Toonami will pick up that’s all I’m saying. I think from a ratings aspect, HOTD would do very well in getting more people to watch Toonami. I like shows with interesting art concepts, like Samurai Jack, so I guess that’s why I liked the idea of P&S getting a timeslot.

The main point I wanted to make is that Cowboy Bebop and SAC are not good timeslots. They show these shows ALL the time, and I don’t think too many people are tuning into them because we’ve seen them so much. They need another shounen that potentially runs for more than 50+ epds and is consistently watchable imo. They tried to do this with Naruto but the dubs voices were garbage, and when the show hit fillers people just caved in. Naruto has some of the worst fillers in anime history–it’s no secret. They should take a look at D Gray Man as I’ve already mentioned, for 103 epds the show remained consistent and its fillers provided better comic relief than Nartuo’s.

I was thinking about how Basquash would fare also, but after the first 10 epds the show drops in favor.

you know how it is.

Haters gonna hate.
lovers gonna love.
bitches gonna bitch, until they get a shove…

I don’t about any of you nigs, but Final Act will inevitably air on Toonami. The most likely scenario is that the show will air this August - in time for Inu’s 10th anniversary on AS - which will synchronize with the DVD/BD release that comes out in the fall.

They need a tl;dr version of Inuyasha before I can be assed to watch it again. It really drags after a while.

pretty amazing. it was the best show in its season imo. but it ended too soon.

Seriously, how many filler eps did they tease us with the whole “will they, won’t they” tension between Inuyasha and Kagome? They were really milking that shit for all it was worth, only for the anime to end without resolving ANYTHING.

Yeah, I am hoping that they replace SAC and Bebop eventually either with new content or a classic Toonami show from back in the day like Tenchi Muyo!,Outlaw Star or G Gundam for a spell. I have Ghost in the Shell on DVD and can rewatch my favorite Bebop episodes when I’m in the mood on Netflix.

Yeah, Basquash was great at the beginning and crapped out toward the end. A shame.

What they need is to remake all the eps with 90% less bitching. I don’t even know what the action in the show was like becaue my own ears grew hands and changed the channel. I only know the name of inuyasha’s sword because it appeared on a sword website I go to. Why he never gutted the bitch twice a day is beyond me.

I’m liking the first ep myself. I KNOW what I’ll be doing Saturday.

As far as Casshern goes, The action must increase. Otherwise, we will all subcome to the cute robot girl. she reminds me too much of my friend’s little girl except my friend’s little girl tries to use my swords. Nothing quite like taking a lightsaber to the face from Dwarf Vader to make you appreciate living alone.

^I agree with this message. bebop and SAC, as much as I love both, have been here for a while. I’m sure everyone has seen them end to end by now considering they’ve been here since at least 2009. I too should take a look at D Gray Man myself. I’m thinking tonight I’ll climb aboard the Netflix train and have a seat. Why they haven’t put Full Metal Panic on the screen yet is beyond me. Either that or bring back Code Geass…BOTH SEASONS DAMMIT!!! This be pirate eyes! I be wanting that visual swag now!

:(…you had to post that…

Watch d. gray man in japanese subs. Mind you the show doesn’t get good until about 60 episodes in. =[

much too soon. hopefully they make a second season tho (and funimation decides to dub it) - it’s definitely possible since the manga isn’t even finished yet lmao.

oh yeah, and casshern looks legit. i think AS has the right idea, people just aren’t perceiving it the way they intended them to (or at least the vocal minority thats like “but it’s just the same anime saturday they’ve been doing but with tom omg gg”). if they knew anything about toonami they’d realize that they added a lot of new shows progressively over time, and for a rebirth of it they needed to include familiar animes that most people already have seen 500 times (bleach, ghost in the shell, etc) and 2 new shows that are sort of testing the waters of the audience (casshern + deadman wonderland). if they just threw all this new anime at us, they’d lose their “omg bleach ownz~~~” audience, and if they just showed us nothing but shonen anime they’d end up gaining no new viewers. it’s a perfect mix, and if we stick with it they’ll add more casshern/deadman-esque animes.

or maybe they’ll bring back hamtaro. i’d be ok with that too. :shy:

moves mouse over to like then reads hamtaro at the end…almost sir…almost…

“Coming next, HAMTARO! Only Toonami, on Adult Swim!”

They should play Gantz just to fuck with everyone who doesn’t read manga like myself

An interesting article on the Toonami Revival that has Jason Dimarco saying some words about the topic as well as the April Fools Toonami. The article also goes into why shows such as DeadMan Wonderland and Casshern Sins were picked for the lineup. Also gives a brief history on the nosedive on anime in non-digital media at around 2005. http://www.adweek.com/news/television/anime-reanimates-adult-swim-140794

I kind of fear that in order for toonami to be a sucsess, it would have to somehow get english dubs and such and air them at the same time as the japanese release. This stops pirates in their tracks, except mugiwara. Of course this is impossible. I’ll support the DvD releases of all of my favorite anime however.

Okay. I fucking love dark and depressing anime, so…Casshern Sins has me excited. I heard about this (missed the Toonami 2012 premiere.) I loved that show, but…Really? Seems like an odd choice - a lot of it might go over people’s heads, and it is definitely a downer. But If you guys like it, I recommend Claymore. They both have the same feel.

And people are talking about Saikano in this thread too? One of my favorite series. It goes from sad, to depressing, to really depressing, to really fucking depressing, to really fucking depressing and really fucking confusing.

You, as a viewer, go from sympathetic, to confused, to depressed, to miserable, to what is going on why am i crying somebody hold me oh god why

It is a hell of a ride and I recommend it.

For anyone who missed this here were the rating for Toonami on April fools

Note their was **NO promotion, no advertisement, and the shows were announced periodically, throughout the night. **

-All of this happened due to Social Media via the word of mouth and they had great ratings that night.

When they announced that Toonami was coming back on May 27th Social Media is happening again but **THIS **People were preparing for it and spreaded like wild fire on the internet where every single one of their shows became trended topics. Would not be surprised if this opening block received 2x the amount of ratings on average.
