To oneâs taste their own dude. Im personally not a fan of Panty and Stockings overall style. Reminds me of Power-puff girls/Invader Zim on meth that tried too hard to appease American audience. If i had to pick between the two then yeah Panty and Stockings logically has a better chance to be on Toonami then HOTD because it can probably appease the general adult swim audience. Toilet humor and rudeness is nothing foreign to Adult Swim typical weeknight lineup (I say Boondocks would be exception)and would probably get the high ratings. HOTD was censored in Japan TV when it aired their and to be honest the story is more then âbreastsâ. I only say that the possibility for HOTD on Toonami are pretty reasonable due to their mature content disclaimers, them having higher tolerances now on the matter of sex content, the likelihood censoring certain scenes like how Japan did, and more importantly the following the show has in the west (you can call it overhyped if you wish) for good ratings and fits the NEW toonami feel
edit:Would still watch it on Toonami though for the hell of it regarding Panty and Stockings
I like that Fly Away song from P&SâŚit kinda has a Daft Punk feel to it mixed with something else that Iâm having a hard time putting my finger on.

Got to say for âdepressingâ:shake: go School Days or Magical Madoka just for the troll factor based on how upbeat/fun their OP and trailers are . âsadâ would be another story though. WOuld love to see a reaction video of the typical adult swim viewer seeing that sh1t.:wtf:
Unpredictable deconstruction depressing>telegraphed overall depressing
School Days and Madoka Magica takes this due to the amount of impact the typical viewer feels by the end like they got hit by a train. If something is predictable depressing you would simply get used to it
Have you ever been blown away by something that is astronomically more gay than you expected it to be in the span of one sentence? caress themâŚyesâŚgay people are always godlike in animesâŚyeah thank god goku went super sayajin and vaporized himâŚI hate friezaâŚ
edit: but gay people are all cool. all love for the gayâs. yay goku. anybody else think goku is kind of gay though? like, compared to a normal sayajin, he is pretty gay, but that would make him enlightened and powerful in anime and thus super powerful? He could be like will smith and jada pinket. Come to think of it, have you ever seen will smith kiss a woman? will smith is a hollywood super sayajin, and probably gay too. I know for a fact that John Travolta is gay, and he is over 9000. Vegeta would be more powerful if he was gay I think. Goku is probably jus metro, not gay though
Obviously this is implying if you did not play the visual novels and spoiled yourself and even if you did, the game had numerous paths/endings and it could have went numerous ways as the show advanced. It could have had a happy harem ending for all we knew and people were going apesh1t when last ep. was delayed and the troll ânice boatâ aired. Madoka yeah would be more predictable then School days because it does not hide behind upbeat op/ed themes. But the show did a 360 âsh1t just got real momentâ by ep 3. Grave of the Fireflies I would say in your list is what best described telegraphed overall depression. NOTHING is more DEPRESSING then a tale showing children in a real historical war and dying. However all Iâm saying is overall impact of feeling depressed/empty as you finish the series makes School Days/Magical Madoka based on how literally starting innocent enough and even tries to hide it then suddenly shows true colors as the shows progress. When you said âdepressingâ its vague enough that i can go for the âhitting the emotionâ route if it means it has a bigger empty feeling especially when you had different expectations.
Guess my best analogy would be the stock market. Grave of the Fireflies is no doubt depressing from a glance and that makes the stock value $100 and your expectations for this show in a general sense in realized. School Days and Magical Madoka are worth $20 since they are hiding under sheeps clothing. As both groups content is shown Grave of the Fireflies keeps a steady value of $100 while School day and Magical Madoka gain value. In the end the sheeps clothing depressing shows nets $200 while Grave of the Fireflies nets $150. The reason why those netted more depression points is because it was outside your established comfort zones. Yes WAR ZONES are depressing as hell no lie, but its already implied that it will be depressing thus decreases expectations.
While on topic of depression and Toonami; this has to be without a doubt the most depressing thing they aired on ToonamiâŚliterally

sh1t imagine all the kids who watched this and hear Peter Cullen say âTOM IS DEADâ His agony scream was intense lolâŚThen again Krillin got used to it:rofl:
Ok i know a few of those without needing to look up. Grave of the Fireflies is most constant depressing thing i seen and its obvious why. Its takes place in WW2 environment with a young kid and his little sister struggling to live⌠Bokurano changed a bit from manga to anime but in a nutshell its about kids who are suddenly thrust in mecha death matches and alot of the kids are in deadly situations. Madoka Magica is a âmagical girlâ genre (think sailor Moon) that suddenly turns dark with depressing situations after you make a contract with a little creature. Neon Genisis EvangellionâŚnuff said that show is too mainstream just youtube that one
