I remember Escaflowne being decent.
Adult Swim did air the Escaflowne movie a couple of years ago. Not the biggest fan of that series though.

Escaflowne is very slow…the movie is a condensed version of the anime series…and still it’s very slow and not too interesting outside of a few mech fights. I’m not saying you can’t have drama in a mech anime…but there is a limit to when it’s almost a chick flick…you’ll be better off watching a macross or UC gundam movie.
Edit: because im kinda nerdy on the subject and many of you maybe just don’t know…but Gundam’s continuity is split up into Centuries or Eras. I’ll give a few examples…
Universal Century: is the biggest in Gundam’s line of continuity most things happen in this timeline, everything from Mobile Suit Gundam, Zeta Gundam, 08th MS team, and even Gundam Unicorn are all apart of this timeline.
Future Century: belongs to G-Gundam, After Colony: belongs to Gundam Wing, Anno Domini is Gundam OO(double O), and Cosmic Era is Gundam Seed.
some series are bigger then others, Ironically G-Gundam and Gundam Wing being smaller ones but are the most popular here in the states then Seed or OO, UC is big on both sides of the world though. Sorry to nerd out…

Also because I love Xenosaga, Avoid the anime adaption like the plague…it’s not good…and doesn’t do the game justice. We don’t get good anime adaptions from games like Tales of the Abyss all the time~
before i forget again watch Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari. I can’t stress how much i liked this series…

Somebody else who knows of the mind-molesting goodness of Paranoia Agent. I says damn! I’d watch it again if it came on, no doubt. The best time to watch it is after you’ve been awake for like a day straight. It just seems even MORE f’ed up, if that’s possible. I don’t know exactly what does it, but it does it.

I can see Toonami adding Angel Beats! if they are mixing in some newer shows into the lineup. it has a fair amount of action while being a popular series.

I’m kind of hoping they do 2 old animes they’ve never aired before, and then have everything else balanced.
Blue Gender, Fist of the North Star, Panty and Stocking, Serial Experiments Lain (That can be justified airing ten times in a row), some comedy, maybe Ben-to or Tiger and Bunny, and something kind of Shoujo to round it off, maybe Magical Madoka or Chifaruyfuyu or Rose of Versailies or Pretty Cure or Princess Tutu or Revolutionary Girl Utena.
your pretty correct on that though…either of those mechs or would be mechs(EVA’s) are “not” high on the SRW tier list…only stuff like GaoGaiGar and Gurren Lagann run high on that list without few exceptions(Berserk EVA unit-01 being one) and stuff in SRW:OG…that shit is cosmic godlike…so it’s like that. Also remember how big each mech is…a Gundam is actually huge in comparison to say King Gainer or a Knightmare from Code Geass. Aquarion is Gigantic…but these guys are classified as Real Robots instead of Super Robots…
Super Robots are like God Gundam, GaoGaiGar, TTGL, SRX(SRW:OG), Beowulf(SRW:OG), Hyper Gravion Sigma.
Real Robots are Normal Gundams like RX-78(though Gundam Hammer it’s self is considered to be Super Robot class badass) LFO’s(Eureka Seven) , knightmares(Code Geass), Orbital Frames(Z.O.E), The Big-O.
And some things that are borderline like the Macross Quarter(Macross Frontier), and Linebarrel(Linebarrels of Iron), and EVA’s…because they are well artificial angels…Nerd stuff aside, this is what makes the SRW games so popular…seeing your favorite robot kick anothers butt~ sadly because of licencing…they will never make it here.
