Pre-Tom Toonami will forever be my fave
Um, yeah, that’s what I’ve been saying all this time? I do know basic Japanese. I can see you’re also scrubby when it comes to reading comprehension
I play call of duty in Japanese. Come at me sis.
I imported JPN Uncharted so I can listen to Drake speak Japanese. Fuck Nolan North
I’ll admit, Batman Beyond was a pretty sick series, great soundtrack… I remember toonami had it towards the end of its after school line up and end of afternoons.
slayers would be good the comedy/drama style really fits all ages…anyway, all this nostalgia im starting to miss
Fox Kids saturday mornings…
digimon.
power rangers.
life with louie
the tick
xmen
spiderman
In all seriousness though, make another topic if there isn’t one already if you wanna debate sub vs. dub bullshit. This here, is about bringing back TOONFUCKINGNAMI!! About bringing back robo-Steven Blum. About dem epic intros for every single show. I still remember the DBZ intro. Loved that shit.
I also know some basic Japanese.
Dubs are fine. It’s a matter of preference. Insulting other people on something they like while not affecting you is absolutely stupid.
That is all.
Yeah the whole holier than thou people at anime clubs/all dubs sux got old really really fast. I BLEED KANJI GLORIOUS NIPPON!!! Yeah for a lot of college kids in anime clubs that where a “president/officer” in a anime club, that was like there ONE moment in the sun if any.
And I actually saw a Courage The Cowardly Dog DVD at walmart a few days ago.
so…is this for real???
I forgot how well acted that courtroom scene was in Stand Alone Complex.
The more that I think about it, fuck Toonami. They need to bring back the old bumps used back in 2002.
And I’ll keep repeating it until the day comes, because it was bad-ass and had damn good music:

Someone posted a channel trying to gather all of those intermission songs in their full versions a while back. Looks like it hasn’t been updated in a year, but here ya go:
There’s also these:
Just because:

i dunno about the first one, but they mos def have no info on the song in the 2nd vid. as is keeping it locked up.
Kind of bummed they didnt show toonami last night, but, it was expected
Lol, fail troll, fail.
If they even decide to bring it back, it won’t happen overnight. Yes, I know they have the whole blueprint and layout from the April’s Fools joke - but still, it’s going to take more than a few hundred thousands (hopefully) people to force it to happen in one week’s time. But I’m sure they planned to see what type of interest it would spin by putting Toonami on for one night (even if it were a ‘prank’)
Please don’t respond to Psychojosh, his idiocy is legendary.
I leave my tv on during the weekends while I sleep. I usually leave it on adult swim. This morning when I woke up and was watching cartoon network, I saw a commercial for cartoon planet (they’re bringing it back). What I’m getting at, is that if they are bringing cartoon planet then there is hope for toonami.
I think they should ressurect Toonami for the purpose of reintroducing old school anime. I’m not even talking golden era stuff like DBZ, Kenshin or YYH. Im talking OLD SCHOOL, like Dragon Ball, Ranma 1/2, and the OG Gundam, with Moltar as the host.
They could mix in some old Transformers, 90’s X-Men, and Batman TAS just to be safe too
Also… I MISS MEGAS XLR D:
A good friend’s father is a language professor. He tells people quite often that Rosetta Stone sucks and is a waste of time.
A correction of your statement would look like this:
Diehard anime fans with time and disposable income learn Japanese.
Sure, learning Japanese would be nice, but I don’t exactly have the time or money to take classes at the moment. That’s the same mindset that I’ve heard regarding figurines. Hearing “True Anime fans buy figurines.” I don’t buy them as they don’t interest me, that doesn’t make me a false fan.
Besides, knowing the language, which is what Rosetta Stone is supposed to enable you to do(albeit rather poorly), does not mean you know the culture and some mythology, which is an essential part of anime.
If you know some culture, then you are a true anime fan. It doesn’t matter if you watch subs or dubs, it is the spirit that counts.
I remember at one time it was on 1 am, and then they moved it to something like 5 am. I believe this was back in the first half of 2006? I’m glad I caught it though while I was doing homework early Saturday morning. Wouldn’t have watched the last few episodes of Yu yu if I didn’t. But I did think it was shady how they didn’t mention anything about it all. I wonder what was their logic behind it.
And did anybody here remember how back in 2004, they would show .hack Legend of the Twilight as early as 1 am on Saturday and they showed the opening unedited? When I say unedited, I mean they didn’t even bother to alter the Japanese credits to English like most licensed anime do nowadays. I thought it was a nice touch.
