When I stopped it felt like cases were becoming the same. The only interesting ones I remember are when they actually have to do with Conan (getting kidnapped, most cases involving the FBI, etc.)

Those shows are cheaply produced. Even if those shows were pulling in shitty rating they aināt breaking bank producing that crap.

No way. That show had one of the most disappointing endings and anti-climatic endings ever. Really? Iāve never seen the ending actually but i thought it was pretty cool. But as a kid, I liked every show back then so meh.
I missed the ending twice if not three times on tv. So I went out of my way to justā¦temporarily āacquireā the series, and when I saw the ending, I felt cheated. All that work, all that build up, for nothing. Basically, imagine if the entire MGS series ended as soon as you hit disc 2 of the first game, and the game ended there by simply saying āAND SNAKE WOULD NEVER GIVE UP!!ā. How pissed would you be?
So it wasnāt really an ending, just an unresolved cliffhanger? Weak.

and then they went to adult swim. anime only on sat. night. Im pretty sure thats when champloo, Code Geass (Best Anime I have ever watched honest.) Big O, Ghost in the Shell, Wolfs Rain, Witch Hunter Robin, Blood+ and a bunch of others made their rounds.
Currently, the anime isnt even all that bad now. But I think the problem is that 1. its too spread out. G4 has the wolverine, x men, and Blade animes, Cartoon Network has Durarara, Full Metal Alchemist, and Kekkaishi Disney had Naruto Shippuden. and 2. that because theres SO MUCH MORE of it out now, its harder to make and find one that is elite and will cause the kids now to have the kind of memories we have now. I mean seriously, at this point, no child is going to have the brain shaping experience of growing up with dragon ball z. and thats kind of sad to think about. and 3. American cartoons have stepped it up hardcore. Justice League (and Unlimited), The Boondocks, the Avengers show from last year, and ESPECIALLY Avatar. Its not mandatory to be from Japan in order to have a super high class cartoon anymore.
And as much as the nostalgia bomb hit me just as much as it hit everyone else in this thread, I honestly have to say that because of the three above factors, added with the fact that I have just listed like 2 dozen shows, theres just not enough time to bring them all back and find the really good new stuff and make everybody happy. Even if they were to bring back old school tToonami, it wont ever really have the same kind of long term impact with the new generation that it had with us.
It IS however, important to note that on average, ive noticed that many more people remember the āA boy has the right to dreamā Promo then they remember the fact that Ronin Warriors and IGPX were even shows on toonami at all. Which i think is a big statement to the idea of homemade trailers and promos
and as for subs vs dubs. its different for each show, and neither is inherently better than the otherā¦
The English dub for Dragon Ball Z was UNQUESTIONABLY better than the Jp voices.
But For me when I watched Durarara, I alternated between episodes because I liked both equally.
But when you are trying to get ratings and get more people to watch your tv station, making people read the bottom of the screen as a prerequisite to watching your channel will just not work.
but if youre trying to watch some poverty anime or some new stuff that isnt in English yet, theres no reason to not watch dubs if its the only option. but listening to a show in Japanese, when you dont understand Japanese DOES NOT, IN ANY WAY make you better/cooler than somebody else. The thought itself is laughable.
Oh they ended the show with a cliffhanger? That pisses me off so much. I will never forget that Teen Titans cliffhanger they gave us to end season 5. Made me mad sooo much
