The Official Toonami Thread: Fight tha powa!

I don’t give a fuck about dubbing making a show more accessible to some shitty kids so it can be censored to shit and have it’s story line ripped to shreds because odds are, I already read the fucking manga. I only watch dub shit with my girl cause she doesn’t like wearing her glasses and half that shit we watch would NEVER be aired on shitty as Toonami with their shitastic redid openings and crap music brought to you by legendary hack Bruce Faulconer.

Fucking nostalgia is fucking hilarious man.

Scrub detected

Yes, sir. Your self-detection has been utilized sufficiently. Like I’ve said: true anime fans learn Japanese. The rest are scrubs that get salty when you bring it to their attention. Dry your tears, Joshua, and obtain Rosetta Stone and purchase this book. It shall ease your ‘scrubbiness’ and stop all of those false positive on your scrub detector. It’s all good.

And, hopefully, we can move away from this whole animu/weeaboo bullshit about what’s better. Toonami was good in the past for more reasons than just its anime. Nostalgia, as mentioned, is the biggest cause for its revival (amongst us here, at least).

WOULD YOU STOP POSTING TOWARDS PSYCHOJOSH PLEASE?

Let’s go back to naming what you want on the Anime Lineup

Batman TAS
Boondocks
NEW ANIMAY
NEW ANIMAY
GitS
Yuyu
Case Closed

New anime
New anime
New anime
Gundam (anything pre-seed would be great)
YuYu
Trigun
Outlaw Star
OG Astro Boy

I believe since most of us are in the US then we should watch the Dub of anime, it’s not just a mere question of preference but just a culture gap in general, most people when introduced to anime for the first time didn’t watch it with subs, they watched the dubbed version. This may not apply to specifically but as a general whole, that how it is.
I personally started out being exposed to BubbleGum Crisis and Gatchaman watching the Dub versions of those, however with time I watched many different anime and shows(Super Sentai and Kamen Rider) in it’s native language and me the decision on my own in which one I liked best.

Personally if it was up to me, I would make it so more anime became mainstream and have it mixed in with normal TV blocks, I mean there is a anime for everyone as they say with all the different genres and stuff, heck if i wasn’t busy watching Akibarangers, Go-Busters, and Kamen Rider Forze, I would like Saban to make more US adaptions to those series as Kamen Rider Dragon knight(Ryuki) wasn’t that bad. This would Lessen the gap between American cartoons and Japanese anime and kids in our current generation would be exposed to the same awesome things we liked when we were kids…well thats what I think, you can agree or disagree…Im going to expose my kids to that stuff anyways…cuz i’ll be a bad parent >_>’

New anime would be a good thing, but it’s so damn hard obtaining the proper licensing these days (now that everyone is trying to get anime). With Disney XD, Toonzai, and NickToons fighting amongst one another for new anime-style series … it might be a bit difficult. As I mentioned in another post, Adult Swim has brought a few new series to its line-up since Toonami vanished. It’s a good sign that they still have some ties to distributors.

Toonzai is owned by 4kids. Which Japanese company at this point would be dumb enough to license their property to them?

Judgment Day

Funimation is sitting on a ton of anime series that I don’t recall being aired on TV. Doesn’t need to be new as in airing new in Japan as well, I mean something new that wasn’t on AS/Toonami already.

I would like to see new Lupin airing over here tbh.

12-6AM? Is that everday?

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

I liked Fushugi Yugi’s dubs.

Funimation have their own channel and they air most of their stuff on it. Whenever I’m at my sister’s house it’s nice seeing shows like Soul Eater, Slayers and Rideback on TV.

it’s too easy to troll sometimes

Funimation has a lot of stuff they can air but most of it doesn’t exactly appeal to the audience CN is trying to get. Then again I don’t think anyone has ever really tried airing stuff similar to Tenchi since…well, Tenchi. Speaking of Lupin…did they even finish airing Lupin on AS? I don’t think they did and I always enjoyed watching it.

And why the fuck is Case Closed on anyone’s approve list? I haven’t watched it but I have read it. I’m betting they still haven’t advanced the story after I took a long ass break at chapter 700.

edit: how do people not remember WB’s Toonami? Stupid promo code for that one little card that only aired once at 9AM or some shit? god i hated that
edit2: rosetta stone is trash. the secret nobody really wants to admit:

Man I hated when they moved it the early as hell time slot I missed all those episodes

  1. Scott McNeil 2. Brian Drummond. Nuff said.

On another note, how the hell did KCAL 9 and KCOP 13 get DBZ, Ronin Warriors, and Sailor Moon back in the day?

Needs G Gundam.

How does this live action shit stay on the air? There has to be SOMETHING that stoners would rather watch on some other network.

Hey, hey. No hating on Case Closed/Detective Conan. The story is certainly slow, but that doesn’t mean that the cases themselves are bad.

Also, I don’t read the manga, but the show should be around chapter 780 right about now:

[details=Spoiler]Conan, Ran, Kogorou, and Agasa traveled to England around 30 episodes ago. This was when Shinichi (who took a pill to temporarily transform to his teenage self) finally confessed that he loves Ran.

They also introduced a new character called Sera a few episodes ago. I guess we’re in the middle of this “Sera arc” now since every episode since then has been focused around this character so far.[/details]

Needs some fucking Rave Master. That was my shit.
