The Official Thread of the London 2012 Olympics

weightlifting doesnt differentiate between weights right? just be strong enough to lift the damn thing.

America going ham in that swimming pool, that’s what I like to see.

ya i meant weight classes.

She looks like Amare Stoudamire

It’s funny how with women a cover like that is artistic. If it was guys it’d be the gayest shit ever.

inhaling burnt colloidal solids damages lungs?
nah

So from the 45 minutes of Olympic coverage I’ve watched thus far (Archery) I noticed there were fatties competing. If fatties are allowed at the Olympics fighting games should have no problem earning a spot as an event.

Bolt do anything yet?

Most of the Brazilian team was beautiful. Too bad most of them would tower over me.

Japan really fucking rustled my jimmies in Gymnastics.

> Fuck up your routine
> Come 4th
> Moan and bitch to judges
> Get medal

Ukraine lost their medal and the UK was downgraded to a bronze because the Japanese team couldn’t take it like men. Granted it WAS a dismount, but awarding that many points was flat out wrong.

Lol. What exactly do you know about the scoring/point system to label the amount of points they got awarded “that many”?

They didn’t give him the dismount when it was a clear dismount, the Japs rightfully contested & they got given the dismount. Simples. “Take it like a man”? Nah, I’ll take my rightfully deserved silver as opposed to nothing, thanks.

Saw something on Yahoo news about a Korean fencer being messed over due to a clock malfunction. Anyone heard about it? Supposedly, her opponent only had one second left on the clock to land a touch, the clock malfunctioned, and she got multiple seconds to get the touch, which she did. The Korean team appealed (which apparently costs money), the Korean fencer had to stay on stage for 30 minutes but the judges ruled the opponent would advance despite the clock malfunction.

Kind of shitty, that’s got to be a hollow win for the person who goes on to possibly win gold. That and they themselves won’t step up and say “I had more time than alloted”. I’ve heard the 2012 Olympics have had an unusually high amount of tweets from participants about crappy judging. Thoughts?

Well I consider myself pretty secure in my heterosexuality, having been exposed to many penises during my organized sport playing days and other situations where naked penis sightings were unavoidable and never felt weird about it, but I kind of draw the line at a dude’s penis gently yet firmly pressing against my ass cheeks.

My thoughts are they don’t use video replay? And why would they even need judges for scored events, which I’m guessing there were for fencing. Having refs in place of judges is fine, but they should only be there to ensure no one cheats.

I respect gymnasts for the amount of work they put into their craft but gymnastics, and any other sport where the winner can only be determined by subjective judging (figure skating and diving are other examples), is bullshit. At least in boxing you can KO your opponent to win.

Having appeals cost money just means the IOC is more about politics and prioritize making money over maintaining integrity of competition. When an event requires you to bring in thousands of MILITARY personnel for security, that event should be dissolved. Olympics as it exists presently is a money sink for the host country/city and a burden on tax payers. You enjoy the 2-week party now but continue to pay for it years down the line.

USA vs Czech women’s beach volleyball is on TV, but I can’t find a stream on the NBC olympics site. HELP ME!

lol, thats pretty much the only thing most people are waiting for. An event that lasts less than 10seconds in a sold out arena costing $900+ per seat.

so far this olympics has been a farce, all the events have had empty seats but the Olympic officials have no intention of selling seats to the general public because the games have already started… England sucks.

I didn’t catch fencing nor do I follow it, but how does it work? It looked like the Korean fencer had a touch first in the 2nd match in that vid and the clock never moves.

edit: Wait, does the dot on the bottom indicate who got hit or who landed a hit?

yea the clock never had started and should have gone to another round
