The Official TALES Thread (Sword Rain Alpha) - Tales of Berseria Coming!

i may have to cop a 360 for this, i love the tales games.

Told by my local gamestore that the shipment was coming in this afternoon. You should be able to pick it up today, no problem. =)

The music in Tales games never seem to be memorable. It seems Vesperia is maintaining the tradition.

Yeah, thats the only thing I donā€™t like about Tales games. The music doesnā€™t seem inspired at all, everything else is gravy though

Man, my gamestop doesnā€™t get this game until tomorrow. The only Tales that I thought had good music was Tales of Legendia. It was implemented into the game pretty badly and the game wasnā€™t all that great, but listening to the OST alone is godly.

Yeah, I have to wait till tomorrow as well. Not to mention I have class and work tomorrow, so iā€™m gonna have a real small window to play it :frowning: Ah well, once sunday comes iā€™ll be playin it all day iā€™m sure :razzy:

My sister isnā€™t here, so I havenā€™t bothered picking it up. Iā€™ll grab it Thursday probably, or Friday depending when she gets back. Tales games are more fun with 2 or more players imo. Itā€™s too bad this only supports 2P offline, although at least it saves me money on a controller. Good thing I didnā€™t get another one.

Just bought the game. About to pop it in. So pumped. =D

EDIT: No dual-audio track makes me sad. Oh well. Guess Iā€™ve been spoiled by the other RPGs.

Tales of the Abyss says hi.

Funny you mention that gameā€¦before the game crashed at a certain point, I was about 6 hours in but I still wasnā€™t feeling the soundtrack.

Game has been good so far. Good solid Boss fights were you actually needed to set a strategy for your team if you were playing by yourself. Then again, it might be because the default mage AI is stupid. They run into the boss to get pummeled with a full life attack. There are some good music tracks too.

^ i want to get a HD tv b4 i start playing thisā€¦I might wait till the weekend till i pick up my preorder.

Put a good 5 hours into the game. The battle is a lot like a Abyss but instead of FOFs you have critical strikes which kill regular enemies in one blow and do big damage to bosses. Theyā€™re hard to see sometimes and happen really fast.

Tales music is disappointing in that they make too many generic situational themes. In the Abyss, thereā€™s a generic sad theme that, at one point in the game, played three times within about half an hour. Namco-Bandai doesnā€™t put much thought or money into score.

I donā€™t like too many Final Fantasy titles, but many characters have their own themes, and often many variations. Locke and Celes have a theme each and a shared theme together. Red XIII has a theme. Quite a few FF Tactics characters have their own themes and variations. Tales charactersā€¦ sometimes, but not really. (Derris Kharlan from Symponia had four different theme variations though. A freaking BUILDING gets a bunch of themesā€¦)

Not that Abyss had bad music. It had quite a few very memorable themes. But the moment that generic sad music played, or generic playful music (Vesperiaā€™s demo had its ā€œhumorā€ music play twice within five minutes), etc. I groaned. Music is extremely important in storytelling, and suitable music is a motivating force for gamers.

You donā€™t need music sometimes, depends on the environment youā€™re going for. Enchanted Arms uses music more as a light background, and lets the characters or surroundings drive the setting. Thereā€™s this long epic secret dungeon where thereā€™s no music. If there was music, the piece of shit that is the Xbox 360 ate the music with its loud ass fan so I couldnā€™t hear it.

 Pretty funny victory speeches are in this game. Especially the one about ā€œbouncing.ā€

I have my copy, prob will start playing tomorrow!

Any good sofar?

I love it so far. Classic Tales esque combat and storyline (obviously) Canā€™t go wrong with that

huh? but the demo was four players? what the fuck

uhhh, dont listen to himā€¦TOV is four playersā€¦and it is a great fucking game (the tales fan within me is creaming himself)ā€¦any ways the party AI is stupid, but if you set up strategies, they actually do what theyā€™re told (i think abyss party AI was stupid all over). TOV is looking like one of the best tales games right now, iā€™d say its my third favorite right now after ToD:RE, and ToR.
