The "Official" Street Fighter 4 PC Thread (read first post)

No it’s not. Of all my matches (about 800), i’ve only ever come across about 10-20 or so that have been slow motion.

No one? I doubt it’s a frequency limitation on my 2ch setup but one of the major differences I’m missing out on is a huge BOOM when focus attacks are used.

this isn’t true. not sure what your actual problem is, but ive played A LOT of matches online now, with only a few of them having slowdown

Sorry bud, but I can run it 60fps on my crappy laptop with a NV 7400Go, online. I don’t know what’s wrong with your setup. You should also take the initiative to PM the people you’ve played to make sure they’ve set it up as such.

Most people say thanks or say that they’ve done so. The word has definitely spread around, whether you read a forum or not. Best thing that’s happened to a PC fighter in a long time, even with the ‘minor’ complaints.

Apparently GFWL 3.0 was released and…uh, you can buy stuff from the marketplace in-game (I haven’t actually checked)?

also, i think one of the features of GFWL is unlimited installations, which is nice, since previously all GFWL games came with a certain (undocumented) number of installations.

EDIT: GFWL 3.0 rundown: http://www.neoseeker.com/news/11454-games-for-windows-live-3-0-released/

being able to install games after downloading the GFWL client is a lot like steam, a much appreciated feature. but it’ll apparently only work with future games. And it costs money to change your gamertag D:

Yeah, that’s a very welcome feature.

Which oddly enough was today

Can someone please take a look at my post at the top of the page? :frowning:

c:\users\username\appdata\local\capcom\streetfighteriv

appdata is a hidden folder though

Thank you. I’ve found it.

Messing with the file doesn’t keep my settings, though. :frowning:

It was kind enough to disconnect me in the middle of the game, and has done jack shit about anything SFIV related

Does anyone know what settings have the biggest impact on the game ?, from my experience it seems to be

  1. Anti Aliasing (I have it turned off)
  2. Soft Shadow (set to mid)
  3. Partical’s (set to mid)

Everything else is maxed out and running at 1920x1080, and the benchmark gives me an A with an average FPS of 59.71

I have the following spec’s

Intel Core Duo (E6400) 2.13ghz
2gb ram
Geforce 8800GTS 640MB
Win XP

When I ran the benchmark first I wacked everything up to full and tried running the game at 1080p. It ran like crap, the only resolution I could run the game at with all the settings to max at 60fps was 1024x768. After a lot of fiddling I found as I dropped the Anti Aliasing more, the higher I could jack up the resolution.

I tried turning it off completely but with everything else maxed out and tried 1080p again. Amazingly, it ran perfectly and looked gorgeous until certain characters did an ultra, and the bit at the end when all the characters are in a circle (this part seems to have the most stress in general).

After a bit of fiddling with various setting, I found setting the soft shadowing to mid stopped the slowdown during everyone bar Ryu’s Ultra (which would drop as low as 45fps when it shows the close up of his face). I set particals to mid and boom, everything seems perfect, but is it just my setup or are the above settings really the most taxing ?.

it’s strange, but i prefer playing this at 720p windowed. my monitor is only quasi-widescreen, so when i go full 1920x1200 it doesn’t look ‘right’ to me. in my opinion, antialiasing doesn’t seem to make much of a difference so i just leave it at 2x.

in other news, i’m also finding that ragequitting abounds on PC. i fairly suck at this game (only have maybe 200BP) and it’s SO frustrating to have those hard earned victories rendered meaningless by some butthole exiting the program when they see my Illusion Spark is going to cowaxdatass

Uff, I still have huge problems with the achievements.
I finished the hard time attack but the achievement speed god is still locked…
And there is no way I can finish the hard trials for all the pg’s…
Uff, I want an achievement unlocker for the PC!

Is Championship mode bad for you as well? I don’t like ranked because of the greater probability of ragequits. Double-blinds are a plus too if you’re trying to learn a character.

Just play in championship mode. If they disconnect then is your win! :lovin:

I did not know that Championship mode penalized ragequits. Thanks for the heads-up.

Motion Blur possibly? I was on the verge of full fps(this was in the benchmark demo), so I turned off AA and Motion Blur and then I had constant full fps. Havn’t looked back since, don’t really miss any of them.

Anti-aliasing, easily. That has to go and resample EVERYTHING in the game from shadows, to textures, to alpha layers. Everything.

Soft shadows are probably the least of your concerns, unless you’re running an older card, which isn’t the case.

Particles are more variable. Something like a wall-torch can be very “light” on resources where as Ex Hadoukens colliding can have a huge effect on the system. If you have enough ram and a fast CPU, though, this shouldn’t be a problem at all.

Are you sure? When I play someone, and they D/C, I have to replay whatever round I was at. Like play semi’s over etc.
