Need some ideas on what to do about lag, it’s killing me.

3gig ram
xp pro sp2 x64
radeon 2600 hd pro 512
wireless
set to fixed / display settings turned down low, game offline runs at 57-61 fps when i watch the counter
I even have my nat connection in the GFWL thing open thanks to port forwarding

It’s so frustrating, I think it’s gotten worst since I first started playing last Thursday night. Am I missing anything? (ps add me for games, I’m sick of trying to find people to play)

What resolution are you running at? Those specs are kinda dated, I would get a new graphics card and overclock that CPU. Maybe get another 1GB of RAM.

Alright, I’ve heard that there are a lot of cheaters for the onlinve version already. Should I even bother getting this now?

lol, I’ve played a few people now who have inbuilt microphones in their computers and haven’t muted it so it pipes all the game sounds back to me with a slight delay. :razzy:

So if you haven’t done so already go into the GFWL bar > Settings > Voice and tick the “mute microphone” button. For some reason it’s un-muted by default.

they cheat in rankings, but i think capcom will patch/work on that.
no “real” cheating while playing.

@Nesk - this dell vostro i’m running doesn’t lend so well to upgrading, I doubt I can swap the gfx card thanks to the PSU being 300w, unless you have a suggestion. I’m running windowed 1024x768

Judging by the ‘unsporting’ negs I’ve been hit with, my guess would be:

  1. Playing a zoning game that shuts your opponent down.
  2. Playing defensively when you have a life lead.
  3. People don’t think you’re unsporting, but they want to whore GP for some reason and you beat them, so they’re going to avoid you.

I sometimes tag people with it, but only when they have mid-game lag out of nowhere. Maybe it’s legitimate lag and maybe it isn’t, but I try to avoid those games regardless.

As for cheating, I haven’t seen any (except for that leaderboard hack they still haven’t fixed), though charge characters in heavy lag might as well be.

EDIT: Case in point. Is YogaDouken on here? Boxer player with 8000+ GP, yet the dude has massive lag spikes every round.

I unless there is some DoS hack to cause lag, I haven’t seen inf meters/life/controller disabling. But, that’s just me.

I seem to have the same problem. Offline works well at 60fps, (fixed, vsync off, aa 0, etc.) but still slows down in online play.

This makes me sad.
