yes, i like the game, it plays great offline, online is just an extra for me, i have friends to play with.
Offline with friends beats playing faceless, speechless online opponents any day.
Ye and with a better online system they wouldt be speech or faceless and u could actually do some good stuff online but no lets not because we cba to do a good online system…
You serious?
Capcom better patch that thing up to force fixed frames on online play. What if the other person is a tad psycho or anything?
Anyway, I’ll have my copy tomorrow morning and see what I get.
Edit : If you’re talking about the sudden fps drop, I tend to get it on the single-player as well. I’ll try to update my ATI drivers, maybe run the game as admin (even though I got UAC off) or put compatibility mode for XP SP3.
My system runs with Windows 7 RC.
Edit 2: After I dl’ed latest drivers, run as admin and compatibility = XP, it did it again on Seth stage. That means its not an “online game” issue only…
Not if your friends are bad. That makes for boring play after a little while.
Also it’s entirely possible to find good comp online that will also use a microphone, I play with people who speak and are near my skill level making for a good game and conversation.
True that. Fun is the key factor on the local games but after some bruising (especially when you outmatch them), it tends to be boring.
there wont be any very special on pc version simply coz capcom must have agreements with both microsoft and sony.
anyone know what parallel rendering is? and if it helps to have it enabled or disabled?
Doesnt happen to me. Ive found online play with green bar matches to be perfect, no slow down except one match with poor ping which was totally in slow motion. I think its lag related.
I dont understand why the game speed is related to the fps though, when no other games these days are. Why did they allow it?
i think it depends on pc specs and if you use more than one display.
Wow, I seriously can’t believe that they don’t force frame-skipping in online mode. That is one of stupidest decisions/oversights that any developer has ever made in the history of online gaming. Way to make a first impression, Capcom!
Now I understand why there’s no cross-platform play. They don’t want to ruin the experience for Xbox 360 owners. That’s assuming the Xbox 360 version is capable of dynamically slowing itself down to match the performance of a piss poor PC, which it probably isn’t.
Is anyone playing this on a custom stick with a cthulhu board? My HK button pauses the game and it doesn’t seem like there’s any way to change this. I think I might be screwed since the PCB is made for PS3/PC and this is using a 360 controller setup.
im using a custom stick with a PS1 digital PCB and have had no problems at all with it. cthulhu shouldn’t be any different.
My assumption (which could be completely wrong ) is that as long as you have a dual-core CPU (or multiple processors) then you should be capable of parallel rendering and should therefore turn it ON for better performance.
If you don’t have a dual-core CPU then having it turned on will slow things down as it will use time-sharing to try to do two things at once.
Are there any more knowledgeable people around who could clear this up?
Would you mind posting your controller setup as it would appear in the config? I’d really appreciate it! I have a six button stick, did your HK button pause the game as well?
no, but it was doing other things till i changed it.

not sure if that helps but that’s what i have, using a 6 button layout too.
I know how to fix this, i had exact the same problem
If ur stick has a PS1/PS2 PCB, or ps3, Go to Launch Game, and then go to Control Settings, then Bottom-Left there’s a box, i think it says
"CUSTOM" Change it to “CONTROLLER TYPE 2”, i have an adapter with a HRAP2SA and a ps2 pad.
Both were recognized right away, all the buttons work, even L1 and L2 (ppp, kkk)
PD: Controller Type 1 i think it’s for 360 Pads, Type 2 for PS1,2,3, Type 3 and foward i have no idea
This CPU was just bought this year, so its not a turtle. But SFIV runs at 20-30FPS during a match. I dunno how to fix it. I’ve tried some of the suggestions in this thread but none have worked so far.
Thanks man, my controller settings were all screwed up. Had to assign buttons in the launcher, then assign commands to those buttons in game.
What’s your video card ?
