After not working for a month and returning to school, some project manager that runs DoD contracts called me up and said he wanted to hire me because he saw my resume online. I showed him my portfolio and we talked about the project he wanted me to work on and I straight up killed the interview… I’m pretty sure he wants to hire since he started talking compensation - it’s an 8 month contract so I asked for 45k, he laughed and told me he would pay upwards of 50k for the 8 months, with a cap at 80k, depending on formal negotiations later on.
I’m waiting on a call back, which should be either tomorrow or Monday…
Wish me luck, guys… I’ll fucking quit school to pick up a job like this! Even if it’s only 8 months, fuck that, times are fucking hard right now.

Well, I might need to be visiting this thread after Monday. I was asked back for a second interview on Monday. This is going to be a tough one because it’s from 3pm to 8pm - damn. But if I get it I’ll be taking management training classes on marketing which I could really use since I don’t have the money for college classes.

On a bad note…FUCK!
So this 2nd interview turned out to be a bogus job. The job description says Marketing and Advertising but it was selling DirectTV subscriptions out of our local Wal-Mart stores. It wasn’t that reason alone, there was actually four reasons why and that is three reasons too much.
Oh well. At least I received two more offers for interviews today.

Well, no call back on Friday or today, but the owner of the tech school I go to knows the guy and says he isn’t always punctual. My school is actually upstairs of the office that the guy who interviewed me works in, and I guess him and the owner of the school I’m going to know each other. The owner of the school said he hires a lot of higher level graduates from my school and I’m already qualified as far as work experience, so the guy should be contacting me soon. I have my hopes up still.
As some of you may know, I was laid off from work about a month ago. I worked as a software developer for a communications company and was employed for only a month and a half. It was dumb as shit too cause I was promised that I would be working in .Net but they gave me a bunch of VB6 modules to work on. Dead technology ftl.
Anyway, I went on the job hunt and posted my resume up on careerbuilder, monster, and dice. I got several callbacks for interviews and just accepted an offer at an IT firm a few days ago. I’m really excited as I get to work on new products that deal with data warehousing and a wide spectrum of the .Net framework.
Best part is that I am gonna be making 3k+ more a year with this new job. Funny how things work out for the best

I feel you. Thats what I went through during my first summer and since in Riverside. Don’t even go outside until at least 6pm. This summer my ac has been broke all the time too. I wake up and its like there’s glue in my mouth.

I just got hired as a ups truck loader/unloader. That job is seriously horrible, i think i rather be unemployed.
My friend just quit his job at Telepac in LV because a worker committed suicide. There you go SRKers! 2 job openings in the desert (I think rate is 23+ / hour).
really? I had that job for a while. way back. Actually, at the time, I had a paper route as well, so I did 10:30-2:30 at UPS, then I’d go throw papers from 3-6.
Those kinda jobs aim toward people in school, that’s why they encourage all those part time positions.
