I based it on the current mvc3 roster and the top dlc’s in the polls (Shoryuken,Unity and Gfaqs). Changed the pairings a bit with what i thought was a bit more of a relevant vs pair.

My theory is that Marvel was still trying to play down Dr. Strange and play up Dr. Voodoo when they nixed the idea of using him. (if it was on Marvel’s side, and I bet it was)
My argument was against those who say that Strange isn’t a very popular character. Strange is by no means an unknown.
Edit: maybe I’m not getting my idea across, ignore me if so.

X was the #1 requested character in Japan, he’s #2 here, you’re bragging about a very mild edge-out victory? Good thing they’ve developed medication for assholes like you…
He was only #1 during the first announcement of mvc3, and that’s because people thought strider would be on disc, stupid kid.
IMO, the people i believe should be in the Marvel side the MOST
Newcomer : Strange, Ghost rider, Daredevil, Emma Frost. The first 3 are long time flag ship heroes, while Emma has been doing allot for a long time now.
Returnee: Cyclops - simple he is the leader of the X-men. He commands the majority of mutant kind. I thought he was a great marvel icon ever since Messiah Complex.
Dr. Voodoo would be pretty sick to put in MvC…

Would’ve like to see more people vote for characters who have yet to make VS appearances, and not returning ones.
And what the hell with the sausage-fest on Capcom’s side? 
11 of the 21 characters on the top list would be new to Vs…
I wonder if the people who voted for him realized that there’s absolutely no chance of CapCom making it in, ever? She’s not a replacement or clone, but Viper is basically her stand-in… Kinda like how there’s no way Blackheart is getting in with Dormammu around, even though they’re both different.
I’m surprised with all the clamoring talbain or frank didn’t make capcom’s top 10.

I find it much more saddening that Jill will most likely (99%) not be having her gdlk original S.T.A.R.S uniform. =/
Everybody rocked her in the early days of MVC2, I hope her new iteration has at least some kind of trademark or homage to the old Jill. I’ll hold my breath though, most likely Capcom just gave her another deadpool/dante shoot-lots-o-bullets super.
Looking forward to how the first DLC characters turn out, and hopefully seeing something positive come out of this fan vote.

From the list, I’d like to see Dr. Strange, Green Goblin, and Sigma. Strange has so much potential and is a major Marvel char, Gobby would be interesting and has a lot of different ways they could make him work, and Sigma is a bad ass and a great villain which capcom’s side is sorely lacking.
Well, if you guys are up on Marvel’s current comics, I guess you’d know better than me whether or not Dr. Strange is a popular character nowadays. I got a couple of his comics from the 80’s, but I’d pretty much never see his comics in comic shops during the 90’s, that’s why I assumed him to be a not-so-prolific char today. I’ve been out of the Marvel loop for well over a decade and assumed his popularity was continuing it’s nose dive, but I’m glad to hear that he’s made something of a comeback.
But for a game that Capcom intends to be appealing to a wider audience (i.e., easy control config and such), you have to assume that they’d rather go with their more popular characters once they have enough weirdos rounding out the cast, and they already have a decent ammount of obscure ones (i.e., non-household names) in there…Taskmaster, X-23, MODOK, Dormammau, Shuma, Skrull, etc…and when you think of the average videogame player, in general they probably won’t have any idea of who Dr. Strange is, and like i said he’s already got 2 guys representing his series now. Would really like to see him in there tho…
