The Official SRK Gun Enthusiast Thread

Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.

The 1st assault weapons ban (like most other gun control bills) was ineffective at fighting crime. The 1st assault weapons ban mandated a study on the effects of the bill after it sunset. Here are the results.

aren’t most gun related crimes committed by non-registered owners?

i can’t find the exact percentage…

Yep, most gun crime is committed by criminals who have no respect for the law. So a ban on guns isn’t going to affect them because they don’t follow the law in the 1st place. It’s common sense.

Like a great anonymous man once said.

Blaming guns for violence is like Rosie O’Donnell blaming her spoon because she’s fat.

The Assault Weapons ban has at least 65 opponents from the house democrats. This is gonna be good :).

So…anyone see any non crazy AR-15 prices in the past few months? Has it calmed down any…

aren’t most guns used in crimes also stolen?

Yeah your right, It doesn’t stop the crime because all the bans do is take weapons away from people who would use them to Protect themselves or their families. I think Gun control on a HIGH level is a bad idea. Some Gun control is fine by me

And yes most gun related crimes are committed by people who broke the law to get that gun, and also yes most gun crimes are not involving AW’s Mostly Pistols and shotguns I think is what I heard.

I was happy when I heard Obama was Elected but I was a bit worried when I had heard he wanted sticker gun laws.

The only kind of gun control that I feel works is licensing strictly in high crime areas. Just so long as the licensing process isn’t discriminatory, arbitrary and capricious (like in NYC). Criminals, who statistically don’t get licenses will go to jail if they are caught with a gun. Law-abiding citizens will have the means to defend themselves. But that won’t happen. These politicians love to enact gun control laws so that they can grandstand and act like they’re doing something good.

I haven’t been following this, but this sounds good.

Rock River Arms still has the same prices that they have always had, or so it seems from a quick look. The prices seem the same as when I dealt with them. Their site says they have way too many orders to process right now, I guess cause other prices are going up, I don’t really know, as I haven’t made a purchase or looked at prices in some time.

I’m getting a pistol next month

I’ve always wanted a hand gun ever since joining the Army in 2002. But due to time and money, I was never committed to the idea until now. As of now I’m leaning towards a Glock 19 or 17 and plans on getting the gun at the next gun show. I was told by many people that I should start out with a 9mm or a .22. I will be mainly using it for ranges and shooting stuff out in the wilderness during the summer. Today, I went to a hunting/gun store and held quite a few guns close to the glock and so far I’m liking the glock for it’s simplicity(wasn’t too into the Springfield xd due to it’s safety that’s on the handle). For the people that own weapons, what would be your suggestions? I’m willing to drop $700.

But the rounds cost more compared to getting rounds for a 9mm or a .22 right? I do plan on shooting a shitton this summer, and I heard you can get .22 converter kits for the Glock. Also, forgot to mention, while I’ve shot various of different military weapons, I’ve only shot a 9mm a handfull of times.

You should just get like, a couple hundred Molotov cocktails and an ax, that way you can chop down criminals that you’ve set on fire. So bad ass. You wouldn’t even have to wait for some damn gun show to roll into town.
Or you could spring for 700 dollars worth of GHB and exacto knives.

I’d like to have that gun for the sake of just having it.

Ive been thinking about this: http://www.taurususa.com/products/product-details.cfm?id=155&category=Pistol but i hate that its a 9mm

Edit: Night, that would be sick!

I would get the 9mm. I have a 357 and 45; the ammo is so expensive.

Glock is good. I’m also in the market for a 9mm but will probably go Beretta, CZ, or Sig.

If you really want to shoot 22, I would just spring for a 22 rifle or the cheapest 22 pistol you can find.
