Handgun is what I carried around the FOB because a rifle is a bitch.
Yeah I’ve played a lot of FPS games but I do In fact go to a shooting range. I realized that the DE is a horribly impractical combat gun and basically only a novelty gun but I’d like to own one anyways. It’s like you said intimidation and status Symbol. But when it comes to firearms, So far I haven’t shot anything that has shaken me. just a bunch of small guns. Most commonly a friend and I go and we usually grab a Beretta 92FS.
But for something more practical I was thinking of looking into a SIG-Sauer P229 I’ve heard some great things from my friends who are HUGE Firearm enthusiasts about it, so I’m immensely curious.
Here’s the Shooting Range I frequent. http://www.knightshooting.com/Home.html
It’s pretty good.
Yeah I didn’t think the G18 was full auto stock, I thought that sounded BS I knew they could do the 3 round burst though. But does that require a modification as well or is that function stock?
Be sure to get your heartrate up when you go and shoot.
I know that place actually. I used to live in winter park FL.
SIGs themselves are widely praised, and everyone seems to just love them, including a lot of LE agencies that use them. I’ve fired the 229 and 228 (very similar) and they are very smooth. The only gripe I had with it was that the 229 was DAO and I really don’t like that at all. The 229 can also be chambered in other than 9mm. I think .40 was one of them, there are probably others. It is also a smaller gun than the beretta you fired, which makes for an easier time during concealed carry. Take it for a test run at the range, just to make sure it fits your hand and everything. You will probably like it as well.
The G18’s major feature is that it’s select fire. That’s why its for LE/Military or Class 3 owners. Other than that it is very similar to the Glock 17, and I’ve been told a Glock 17 can be modified to be full auto by any experienced gun smith, but I never looked into it since I wouldn’t be allowed to own the gun after than anyway.
haha whoever negged me calling the sks “assks”…hahaha I have to admit thats a pretty funny:rofl:. Sometimes I agree but what can I say, I like em.
Meh… don’t feel bad. Some people hate them viscerally. I happen to like mine too.
I’d bet all the $ in my pocket he’s probably got a tricked-out AR or something. Some enthusiasts can really get overboard with their fanboyism, making console debates look rather tame in comparison.
you mean Magazine correct?
I’ve never used the coffee smiley before, but
I do have to agree with Rod Driguez’s statement though. People trick out their AR’s with way too much shit that they’re never going to use.
I always shot better with my support hand.
Yeah sounds like what I’m looking for. Now what about rifles Think you could suggest a Rifle for me? Then only One I’ve went into detail with my searches is the AK-47 (Typical right?) But other than the AK I can’t really find one Based off Of reviews that I like. Cause if you’ve been to Knights, you know you can’t just go and start grabbing guns left and right. And when I say Rifles I mean Assault rifles. Not Snipers.
I already know which Sniper Rifle I’m going to Grab (If I get one that is. For Hunting Purposes.)

Note: I could be wrong in below, please verify for yourself or from a third party that knows better, like a shooting range
From the top of my head, it’s NOT industry standard, but can be made full auto in the factory. For private ownership: no chance, so you would have to mod (I believe this is an illegal process). For millitary or law enforcement: no mod necessary, available as full auto straight out of the factory.
I could be wrong though, maybe it’s different for US guys. Down here gun control is tight as fuck. Anything semi-auto is only allowed on an indoor shooting range (you must have a firearms certificate), and anything full auto is illegal for private ownership.
So yeah, legislation and the type of certificate you hold effects this.
Good thread BTW.
I have replica revolvers I do gunspinning like Ocelot & Eastwood shit when im bored…I was at Cabela’s & i ask to see one of their revolvers & i started spinning it & dude freaked out…
I really want to buy a gun but i have a little youngin in the house…
hey, as a civilian I totally need a tac light and a night vision holo sight.
thisis not excessive at all!
Well what do you need an assault rifle for? In combat the m16/m4 gets shit upon because, for starters, it jams, heats up too quickly, and the 5.56 isn’t a very good round. You aren’t in combat and you would not want to use an assault rifle for home defense unless you live in the middle of nowhere. The risk in an apartment or a housing development of the round going and hitting someone else is too great. So it will be just for fun.
You are really open to anything then. An old sub par AK (or clone) is really cheap, so that’s a selling point there. There are plenty of options if you want to go the m16/ar15 et al route. Another option would be the HK G3, which I am certain has a civilian version. You really don’t have to consider any of the things that reviewers and soldiers care about in a weapon, so you should just pick something that you enjoy shooting. Ask the guys running the range. They are full of useful info. Also there were gun shows in the orlando area every couple months, and in other places in florida the other months. Go and just browse the tables, and see how things feel in your hands.
Yeah I looked at the Civilian Models of the G3 I personally didn’t like how is sat in my hands. Something didn’t feel right, but I haven’t gotten to fire one so maybe I shouldn’t be so judge mental.
Gun shows? Yeah I’ve been to a few of them actually, but most of the GOOD Gun shows your not allowed to touch any of the weapons as the vendors freak out even if you plan on buying them. A friend of mine Actually Shelled out the Cash for a Classic Thompson Machine gun (Yes the fucking Tommy Gun, the Chicago Typewriter guns.) Though I can’t remember if it was the M1A1 model or the 1927A3 model. But back to my point, the guy he bought it from wouldn’t even let him touch the damn gun at all the vendor put it in the case after all the paperwork was filled out and gave the case to him, he wouldn’t let him hold the gun, any of the Magazines, (He had the clips and two Drum mags) and was not allowed to touch any of them. It kinda pissed me off.
But I do have to say I like a lot of the Local boy Gun shops down here, although there all owned by old timers that give me the same look every time I walk into the store no matter if I’m buying something or not, and it’s the same damn look. (I get the “oh look another young punk here we go” That look/feeling.
But yeah the Assault Rifle I wanted, Yeah I wanted it for fun purposes as I live in the middle of the city. Although where I live right now is kinda Drug dealer USA and I've had to fight off people who've tried to jump me a few times. and fighting people with knifes and shit like that isn't fun with your fist's So I want to establish myself as the "Crazy White Boy" of the block if you know what I mean.
And about the HK94 Yeah that looks kinda Similar though that barrel is fucking Ugly as all hell, Man I wish they’d make a Civilian Version. I’d be happy with just Semi-auto and Burst fire capabilities. I don’t need full auto And I looked into them, THEY ARE FUCKING EXPENSIVE AND HARD TO FIND! I googled them for sale and only found 5! Price tags weren’t friendly either About $700-1300 For them. I don’t even want to think about accessories or ammo.
And lastly I looked in to the PS90… Ugh that gun is so useless, it totally defeats the purpose of the P90. But Obviously civilians cannot own Fully automatics. :bluu: But yet when the guy who busts into our houses with a fully automatic gun fucking owns us cause were limited to semi. -_- I understand the laws concerns though.
Whoever said you play too much CS is right. I’m assuming you know how you have to pay for one. If you’re contemplating a bolt action rifle, Winchester Model 70 / Remington 700’s are a popular choice for a quality rifle.
I’ve been looking at buying another rifle. Maybe a Mini-14/30
This is not an attack. Defending yourself is not supposed to be “fun.” You defend yourself because its your right. From experience, I can tell you that being the “Crazy White Boy of the block” will only insure your death in any altercation. Anyone that finds out you have weapons in the house will break in to steal when you are not around. Thats the easiest way to get weapons in the block. They will come with “heavier” weaponry knowing that you may shoot back. I’ve seen it happen many times. Keep it in mind.
I support the right for citizens to bear arms. I dont know the Florida gun laws, if they allow open or conceal carry. Just keep in mind that possesing a gun is not as big as a detterent as you may think.
Also agree with this. Getting in a shoot out in a neighborhood with rifle caliber rounds is bad news, not only for the people involved, but everyone else around. You’d be surprised what bullets can go through, and with inexperienced shooters (not to call you out, but it sounds like a lot of your experience comes from video games) it’s just a recipe for collateral damage. Don’t land yourself in jail, but more importantly, don’t get innocent people killed.
On a lighter note, here’s us teaching the youth of America about the military from a couple years ago. Taught a little bit about weapons safety also, and if their parents let them, even handle some weapons. I used to have a picture of that kid posing with the Barrett. I swear that thing weighed more than he did.

Griff, please read this post carefully. Over and over. As a hunter (and coming from a hunter family) I’ve known too many “Crazy White Boys” who failed to piece together that their hunting arsenal and survivalist know-how didn’t transition into an urban environment. There’s nothing hip about potentially mortally wounding someone, even someone acting antagonistic towards you.
Don’t read it as SRK berating you. Take it as a warning. You don’t want to advertise insanity. There’s always someone willing to test how “crazy” you are.
I’m not really a gun “enthusiast” but I have a 1911.
