Sonic Adventure got some impressive scores when it first came out on the DC… but substantially less impressive scores in the actually improved DX version for GC. And those reviewers, from the same outfits that reviewed Adventure, commented mostly on the gameplay. Specifically, how it was less than satisfying.
Sonic Adventure on the DC was the first 3D Sonic, and the first “proper” Sonic game since the Genesis days. Its flaws were easily forgiven by gamers and reviewers… but those flaws were real. And, since then, no 3D Sonic game has addressed those flaws. The controls and camera are still horrible. The gameplay is dominated by “hold UP” segments that are very pretty to watch but not terribly fun to play.
This continued until, and including, Sonic '06. Not once did Sega or Sonic Team learn. And people, amazingly, were surprised that '06 was one of the worst games in the series, if not THE worst. Adventure is where the rot truly began, not after, and '06 was Adventure’s formula and Sonic Team’s arrogance/laziness taken to its most logical conclusion.
A good 3D Sonic game is possible. Just not by Sonic Team.
Ironically, some of Sega’s R&D labs are some of my personal faves, and IMO some of the undustry’s best. Sega needs to force Sonic Team to colab with the departments within Sega, to make Sonic the beast he once was.
I miss the music from SA1. to me that was the last really really good sonic music. I can still remember the WHOLE soundtrack. windy hill was epic back in the day.
I hate this whole crap rock w/ vocals assist crap they have going on. SA2 is a big offender.

I love that shit! lol I played the last stage of SA2 I don’t know how many times just to hear the song on kick up and I even prolonged the fight with biolizard with station stuck up his ass (final hazard). Believe it or not the songs from sonic have a lot of fans…especially crush 40 even though their rendition of ‘7 rings in hand’ was kinda lacking…I prefer their version of ‘His world’ over Zebrahead’s as well as their version of ‘All Hail Shadow’ but that’s just my opinion.

I’m still reading them…I could never get to a comic book retailer to keep track of the things…I could easily just subscribe but eh…guess i’m lazy lol. A whole bunch of bs just happened within the last 12 or so issues…including knux’s dad sacrificing himself cause knux was being a dumbass.

lmao…I find that incredibly hilarious considering that’s the first time I’ve heard someone mistake the jets on shadow’s shoes for wheels. Reviewers hate the hell out of shadow…and yet he’s the second favorite character in the series.
I hope you get more control in this game. Maybe more of an open world type environment to actually play around with sonics speed. My favorite parts of the origional 3D “Sonic Adventure” were when you were in that huge open field and could run anywhere. It wasn’t even a level. There was nothing to do, but having that much open space to run with nothing leading you or forcing you to jump or stop was what I liked best.
Oh Yeah, wall running would be great too. Not some part where the game developers tell you, “wall run here” but just as a general ability that you could use when you have enough speed and when you want to.
I pretty much agree with this right here. Adventure is also where they first introduced all the crappy “let’s hunt for things” and “let’s go fishing” and “let’s shoot shit” stages that drag down the speed of the game too. Although actually, I have to admit that I enjoyed playing E-102 in SA, the gameplay did not feel like Sonic gameplay and should’ve been used for some other game.

I was thinking about how AWESOME it would be if they made a sequel to jet set radio, but knowing sega they would fuck it up like they did with sonic and nights. didnt smilebit get shut down? hell, the last smilebit game I remember seeing was panzer dragoon orta. no smilebit=no hope for quality JSR game.
can you imagine how pant-soakingly gorgeous a JSR game would look on 360/ps3!?
I always hoped since SA1 came out, that 3d Sonic would capture that Sonic Boom opening/ending…now its 2007 and over two dozen games later and it still hasn’t came out :sad:
I’ve lost faith in sonic. The last one that I enjoyed was sonic rush for the DS because it was classic 2d, but even that game reminded me of why I dont really like sonic games. You can only run right so much before you get bored of watching the game play itself. The next newest one I enjoyed was sonic adventure 2, but that game was largely ruined by all the non sonic parts, so maybe this will be worth checking out, but I doubt it will be “must buy” title, there are plenty of good games out right now and coming out soon that I don’t think I’ll have any urge to play it…PLEASE DONT INTRODUCE MORE CHARACTERS. Its god damn hard enough to care about tails and knuckles.
the enemies all got blasted when Sonic used the Burst running they first implemented in Sonic Rush. So far it looks like 3D sonic advance 2 with all that high speed side scrolling running.
