is anyone else finding ryu’s metsu hadouken ultra visually just meh. i look at some of the other guys’ ultras and they are pretty crazy.
although they made it so theres only one ultra per character. ryu is identifiable with hadouken. do you think in later versions theyll add 2nd or 3rd ultras? a ultra version of S.SRK would be kick ass
I personally love the Metsu Hadoken. Its actually one of my favorite ultras to look at. I think the purple fireball looks sick and the expression on Ryu’s face looks awesome. You can see him he a little more aggressive when he does it.
Even thoguh a shin shoryu ultra would be intresting, I dont see that happening in any version of Street Fighter 4.
I’m having a tough time doing the shoryukuen > Focus Attack Dash Cancel > Ultra combo. I can do the Ultra by itself, but when I have to do it after srk and FADC, it seems like it’s not recognizing my Ultra inputs. I end up shooting EX fireballs instead, or sometimes EX SRK. Is it a timing thing or a special way to input the moves with joystick/buttons to make it come out more consistently?
I have become a lot better at doing srk > FADC though… I can do that with no problems. I just need to land the Ultra afterwards.
eh how are your button inputs? Are you letting go of MP after the FACD? I haven’t played Ryu yet (I’m gonna start using him soon…) but maybe you can use negative edge and hold down MP and do the ultra with jab+fierce?
there’s nothing special to it. best to just relax and do it since you get enough time after the dash to do like 10 D,F motions then hit px3 for the ultra. yea every once in a while i noticed that when i get a bit nervous or try to rush it, i end up doing an ex shoryuken.
this is a really scary move and you’ll notice an offensive game againt ryu changes when he gets an ultra, kinda like super turbo when you see the his super bar at max. you’ld more than likely get hit by atleast 1 dragon punch whether from chain, anti air, wake up, counter your poke or grab…
I like the Metsu’s start up with Ryu expression, but when it comes time to throw the hadouken its just a big purple hadouken. I’d like if it were slightly bigger. Just more epicness. I swear if you look at other character’s Ultras they are 10x crazier and really show some kind of “using ultimate potential” in the fighter.
Maybe later they will do multiple ultras in future installments.
I hope so. Ryu KO’d Sagat with a serious enough dp to scar him in an awesome way and pretty boy gets all the cool dp’s with no explanation except “burning vigor” :lame:
his ultra coming out doesnt look all fancy and maybe people got spoiled by mahvel vS kapkum but its a beautiful sight to watch and listen to the deep base sound effect of 8 fireballs lodging into your opponents chest. kinda cool how he also says it different like he got a sore throat “hadooooooooooookheen!!”
Yeah, I let go of MP. I don’t know if negative edge would work, but it’s worth a shot I suppose.
CFAY: I’ll try to relax a bit more. I did see other Japanese players do it fast… don’t know how they do it. For me, it feels like the game (like some other SF games) seems to become more picky if you use a super (or in this case, ultra) at the end of a combo compared to how easy it is to do it by itself.
whoa seems like too much work with the whole holding down and letting go off buttons. i dont think you can do it too fast since if the opponent is too high in the air when you do the ultra it’ll miss only hit once or twice. its all about execution, like i said just relax and practice.
That’s what I’m hoping for, so as long as what has made Ryu good in the first place, holds up and doesn’t get out prioritized by system gimmicks, then I’m all ears for it.
Even though the Metsu Hadouken is effing good gameplay-wise, the Shin Shoryuken just makes more sense. Plus, with the way they tricked out Ken’s Shinryuken, it’s all but guaranteed it would have looked HOLY FUCK epic.
Ken’s Ultra is technically a Shin Shoryuken already, having that as Ryu’s Ultra would just make the two more alike which is something Capcom has been trying to avoid since forever now.
I think he’s just talking about the hit properties and not visually. It hits like a ShinSho but then goes into a cinematic that looks like something else, but if the first hit connects then it’s pretty much a ShinSho. Still, if anyone was going to get a ShinSho then it should have been Ryu.
i think the people that want a shin srk for Ryu dont really care about the hit properties. ppl love the visual properties of the shin shoryuken. many ppl see the shinryuken and shin srk to be different in terms of flavor, visualistically.
