Kind of surprised there’s no thread for the main character yet. Maybe b/c his playstyle isn’t that different from previous itereations?

From my thoughts about the SRK juggle:
If you do an early SRK against air, can you do SA Cancel into dash into SRK into SA Cancel into Dash into SRK Ultra or some variation thereof? :]

You mean late SRK vs. air? Early SRK will have you airborne and unable to dash cancel no?

Nope, I definetly mean early, although I basically just want to see the extent of SA/Dash Cancel and Shoryus being explored.

Use Ultra as an antiair and you can trade, allowing Ryu to get out of the lag recover of the move, and (although I dont know properties, so this is theory) you could dash in and juggle with another super or DP. The move last so long it looks like even if you cant juggle from the trade you;ll be able to set up nasty mixup.

He seems nerfed from say 3s or so…

Just from watching the Valle vids that gilley put up, he seems ok. He tried to dash cancel combo from anti-air SRKs but didn’t hit anything

Maybe the properties of his moves are a downgrade from other versions, the fact that there’s no air blocking/parry does a lot for his zoning game. Getting a fireball blocked up close also doesn’t equal retaliation either since it looks like the recovery is much better than 3s, but probably not up to ST/A2 levels of brokenness

He hits him late with the dp, but a early dp would work too.

ryu is pretty much my “when all fails” character.

i dont think he can dragon punch, SA cancel then dragon punch again(ken can) unless its the EX dragon punch, ex hurricane kick will also connect but doing any of these is a waste of time since you’ll end up using like three bars which would be used for other things.

dont bother doing the anti air DP, SA cancel cancel unless you have an ultra stored.

no matter what you heard, heavy dp is strong enough to be used every single time someone jumps in and thats a free ultra every time if you got it and two super bars. jab DP is not that strong as anti air but work good on ground pokes.

a hurricane kick will slap the shit out of any SA so if you’re quick then do it and remember there is no SA cancel to block. with that said, hurrican kick seems useless. i say use it once every 10 years.

combo into EX hurricane kick sucks mad life.

with all his damn normal easy to execute chains, yould think youre playing alpha 1 or MVC

How are ryu’s command moves? Is f+mp more like ST or 3S? Is f+fp shitty like in every other game except ST? What can you do from jumping MP?

he’s no 3s ken but i think a good patient ryu can beat almost any game.

i just thought about this…never tried but i wonder if jump over a fireball outside of anti air range and fall on an ulta works (no streetr fighter ex)

Jumping MP -> Ultra works from what I’ve seen.

cr.lp, cr.fp hadouken still works, I’m assuming shinkuu works, so thats still a beefy has hell cross up combo… might be able to replace that with hurricane kick. I hope cr.lk into cr.fp works!

is it me or do fireballs seem to recover really fast in this game. Just watching Valle play. Not sure if he just baiting or what have you but it seems like Ryu fireball recovers at much faster than i used to remember.
