That’s true because every Balrog players I have ever played in my life have done some top shelf turtling.
Hey, guys. I’m relatively new to Shoryuken. I just decided to join because of Street Fighter IV. My questions are how can you do the fireball trap in and how do you fight against Sagat? Hopes not to get eaten alive LOL.
Anyone know if there changing ryu for the console version?According to the word around town their toning down Sagat and i was wondering if ryu would get the same treatment. i cant find any info on the subject.
I doubt that they would change anything about him. Sagat being nerfed isnt a surprise his damage output is sick.
It would be cool if they gave him a fake fireball like in Hd remix.
ryu ultra set up
I got stung with fierce punch srk canceled into super then immediately followed by ultra. the ultra only hit me 3 times but it was enough to finish me off.
So I was playing against a Blanka who would spam electricity after I knock him down to stop my wakeup crossups. Turns out jumping fierce timed correctly beats that shit cleanly.
Just thought I’d throw that out there.
very good info tatsu
Yo, im new here…and lost o.O
is there some kind of guide to Street Fighter, explaining all the terms and what not
thnx!
this is a bit more accurate link
http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2007/oct/21/street-fighter-terminology-acronyms-lexicon-and-glossary-guide/
can you elaborate on “timed correctly”… does that mean a really deep jump-in fierce or fierce slightly after the initiation of electricity (i ask because electricity seems to have invincibility @ startup)
thx
I think electricity will beat out the fierce if you go for standard cross up timing (meaty hit on wakeup) but if you time it so you jump in late so the electricity is going for awhile you can smack him in the head and take no damage. It’s like the hitbox for the punch is well under Ryu so you can get the hit in safely. You don’t want the hit to be deep, you want it to be on the tip of his head.
This might be old news, but you can link an EX Dragon Punch after a Jab Dragon Punch in the corner. It does more stun damage than just combo-ing into an EX Tatsu, so a solid combo is cr.LK, cr.LP, Jab Dragon, EX Dragon in the corner.
It looks pretty flashy too.
only one hit of the ex shoryu will touch. and it will do very small damage.
cr.LK, cr.LP, Fierce Shoryu will make more damage and save you one EX stock.
Actually Ranix you are wrong.
My combo does more damage and stun than Fierce Shoryu. It also does more damage and stun than cr.LK, cr.LP, EX Shoryu.
Here are some figures (all are corner combos):
cr.LK, cr.LP, Fierce Shoryu:
Damage: 178
Stun: 260
(^Corrected, Thanks Mickey D)
cr.LK, cr.LP, EX Shoryu
Damage: 162
Stun: 260
cr.LK, cr.LP, LP Shoryu, EX Shoryu
Damage: 196
Stun: 330
cr.LP, cr.LP, cr.HP xx EX Tatsu
Damage: 242
Stun: 400
cr.LP, cr.LP, cr.HP xx LP Shoryu, EX Shoryu
Damage: 267
Stun: 480
I’m not saying my combo is the best combo, because if you have Ultra, you want to combo into Tatsu in the corner. There are also many deadly combos Ryu has, like Dash Punch, cr.LP, cr.HP, Hado FADC, etc.
However, it’s still a good combo if you know your opponent is close to stun.
You’ll see what I mean when you get your console copy ;).
good pointers… hope those firgures are accurate
note on Blanka.
If you just jump in heavy punch and try to break his electric ( that is if he does it ) then thats fine.
hald teh time he will either ult or exp ball on jump in unless he got no bar…
meh he is a LAME opponent for Ryu tbh…]
ill get my Ken up to spec and kick his ass
Thanks, I really thought that RX shoryu was so stunning.
can you calculate for me some combo damage, It will help me knowing wich one is better.
so
1 cr.FP, Hado, FADC Cr.mp, Cr.Fp, HAdo, FADC, CR.FP, FP shoryu( corner only 4 ex stock)
2 CR.FP, FP shoryu cancel with Super
3 cr.FP, Hado, FADC Cr.mp, Cr.Fp,Ex Tatsu, EX hado( corner only 4 ex stock)
4 cr.FP, Hado, FADC Cr.mp, Cr.Fp,Ex Tatsu, Ultra( corner only 3ex stock + 1 ultra)
5 Cr.Fp,Ex Tatsu, Ultra( corner only 1ex stock + 1 ultra) To compare damage with the one above.
Many thanks if you can provide me this combo damage. I m using all of them but I don t know if it s worth using 3 ex stock or ultra sometime.
Plus if you have acces to the console version, can you give us the last combo in chalenge mode( the 2 or 3 last more complicate one to do with ryu)
Thanks
Well I’ll wait for some other people to provide that information. I do have access, but seeing as the release of the game is so close for the US players, I think it might be more fun to have some more players involved in this thread.
Also the four stock combos you mention are HARD to do. I can do them, but it’s going to take me a solid day I think to be able to pull them off consistently… and I don’t have that much time!
But I’m certain that combo 5 deals the least damage. Combos 1 and 3 are going to get really close to stunning the opponent also.
Combo 2 is a solid combo but I personally hate using the Super unless you win the match using it. Four EX stocks are too much to lose for Ryu…
Oh and one more thing… check the credits when you get the game and wait right for the end and look out for something. It’s only a small thing, but it might surprise you ;0
Also, I think that realistically, the best damaging corner combo you could do with Ryu would probably be:
cr.lk, cr.lp, cr.HP xx HP Hado FADC cr.MP, cr.HP xx HP Hado FADC cr.LP, cr.LP, cr.HP xx EX Tatsu, Ultra.
I am sure for pure number of hits you can do a lot more (for example cr.LK, cr.LP, cr.LP, cr.MK xx Hado can all combo), but I reckon as part of a throw mixup game, this is the sort of combo you might see every once in a while…
