One thing to be wary of people. DO NOT DO FIERCE SRK FADC INTO ULTRA FOR ANTI AIR. You waste 2 EX meters and its harder to execute than jab DP Ultra. Specifically though, because if you do the Fierce SRK at a certain time in their jump and you cancel and Ultra, the Ultra will whiff right under them. It’s happened to me 3 times already in the past week, because I was too eager to hit it, or I mistimed it. With jab DP Ultra, you can’t really mistime it, its easier, and you waste no EX meter.

yeah that happened to me a lot when using it from a fierce dp,sadc, ultra, but if you used that for an anti air you gotta just do the ultra slower

lol i really hated how it would dp, sadc, then ultra comes out then the opponent only bounces off of 1 hit of the ultra and the rest would go under them lol

Any tips on fighting good C.Vipers?I got my ass kicked really hard by one today.

I’d help, but here in NYC, she’s avoided like the plague. Over here, C. Viper is just regarded as giving your dollar to the machine for free lol. So no help from me. :sweat:

Play patiently and smartly. Viper has to take A LOT of risks to get her damage in by you. Don’t fall for silly thunder knuckle strings…start reading the patterns when they like to do them, and neutral jump straight up so you can combo on the way down.

Be sure that when you get that opportunity, to MAXIMIZE damage output because Viper as we all know can’t take a punch worth shit. After you get those combos in, just chill out, wait for her to come to you, and you are SET my dude!

the thing about viper is that there are So many different ways to play her so its hard to say exactly how to beat her. her game is overall risky though so yea if youre smart enough, you can have her kill herself if you know what i mean. just watch out for mix up patterns and bait the moves she like to abuse then punish.

chun is a bit different, you can close fireball spam her a lot and force her to either jump into a SRK or do that hasan shu. i know someone said dont hp srk sadc ultra but trust me, if she jump and you have toe meter you better do it, her vitality sucks so she’ss feel the burn. c+mp or c+mk can compete with most of her pokes. throw her ass when you get the chance because thats basically her game too, throw/tick tick/poke mix ups. learn to reset block strings wtih f+hp since people arent usually expecting it and dont react fast enough. after a f+hp on block, its 50/50 so work on your mind games, you have poke priority after it, you can decide to throw, you can risk a srk or you can just block. if you knock her down watch out for wake up ex bird kick, the begining of it has serious invincibility…knock her down and bait it with a walk up dash back, or walk up act like youre about to throw out a poke then jump straight up. let her get into the habit of stop doing it then you throw her ass on wake up. when you throw off her game itll go down to 50/50 on wake up. this is not even ryu tactic, its just SF in general. SA hurts her also, remember she loves to walk up and single poke. spam a few fireballs then throw in some SA, if no attack then dash back. remember i said close fireball spam, mixed in with some walk in c+mk and close jump ins, almost cross up distance. be smart about jumping in from far too much, its easy for her to catch you with that double air fierce xxx. you should be jumping when youre putting pressure on her, not when she pokes u and force you to jump. if she sitting on a ultra bar waiting on your fireball across the screen, just watch her movement, youll know when she let go off the charge if you see her move forward even a bit, thats when you throw it, throw a slow fireball, gives you time to close in on her if you want to get on the offense. a lot of times she let go off her charge when she sees you take a few steps forward like youre not about to throw it. its just tricks man, just work on your mix up game and tricks, thats the beauty of ryu. he’s easy to pick up but youll only make him look good if you work on your tricks and mix up game. my ryu is still learning but i can help myself a bit. if its a SA spamming chun, you need to know how to c+mk srk or hurricane quick as hell. you hit her with one of those and she’ll def not use it that much. you can also dash back or jump forward on her when she does an SA at close range. i know it can get annoying when she’s playing tick throw, tick tick bird kick mix up, again dash back, srk from block stun(risky) or work on your tech throw. if she’s getting fresh with that neutral jump HK just stading HK her into fireball spam.

i was playing against cpu today and mess around with some stuff. trying to get use to the c. mp link timing and it doesn’t seem that hard to do. the time for c. mp link is pretty forgiving and it’s not that hard to hit confirm a srk (if you’re within range) or a super after it. so c. mp link to super is very similar to 3rd strike ken’s c. mp super. i can see this is particularly useful for tick throw mixups. after you tick throw a few times, people usually try to break your throw after your usual c. short, c. jab. now, you can c. short, c. jab, pause (just a little for them to try to break your throw), c. mp (hit confirm), super.

the c. mp , super does very good damage. it’s another tricks you can do if you have super.

good stuff, maybe u missed it but that c+mp thing been talked about a while back. its another one of the big differences with ken and ryu. it also allows ryu to do c+mp, c+lp, c+mp xxx. if you think c+mp xx super takes life, throw in a fierce srk before the supers and its about 50%. anyway ken gets c+lk, c+mk which is almost impossible to do with ryu.

Hey do ou have some usefull tool against el fuerte?
it s just that fireball is useless, and wake up game is just so hard, betwenn cross up throw and mix up sometime look like once you are in the ground round is finish…

lol fuerte is another risky player kinda like viper. you said it yourself, once he knock you down the game is over. that means he’s just playing 50/50 with you and doing it real smart. i’ve lost to those fuerte in yokohama too, they are real good and so many of them so its hard to figure them all out.

you can throw fireballs at him but just dont do it from too close, when he has meter. when i was watching you play i did notice that you dont throw too many fireballs at anyone. if he’s far you already know his plan when you throw a fireball is to jump off the wall into whatever, just watch him and remember that if he jumps off the wall none of his attacks will go full screen so know where is safe to stand. standing roundhouse is good since he game is to run the jump into the air. back dash is also good to escape his moves even on your wake up. watch out for that crouching mk into back run throw, i remember that one we played kept doing that. when you knock him down, you can play the same 50/50 game with him. fuerte can be dangerous as you saw but he’s still weak, a few hits from ryu can take him down. always remember to throw throw throw. no point in always doing a block string ending with a fireball for chip damage then look for another opening…block string, cross up again, block string etc. try to stay on him and throw his game off. . when he got meter you know he likes to wake up with ex run or just ex run when he predict youre coming with a single attack. he probably got one of the most annoying SA game and its hard to backdash sometimes when youre blocking, you gotta work on that. i remember i was watching and he did SA, you thought it was coming, did a a SRK and he back dash into run punch infinite lol. be careful with that. if he does SA when youre getting up, back dash if he’s out of attack range. this might sound crazy but you can throw his SA real easy when youre getting up as long as youre in throw range when he’s coming in with that punch. thats why he usually try not to be too close when he does SA. your SA can absorb his dive attack, if he does the throw instead, it will whiff if you crouch. the only problem is knowing which one is coming.

off topic but have you seen this that chic who use fuerte?

oh CFAY, i know about those c. mp link combos long ago (been watching a lot of vids… lol). but c. mp can be done at max range and hit confirm to super still connects. so i meant this as a poking hit confirm option when you have super. I know if you have a crossup mk combo going, it’s better to do link into srk and fadc ultra to save some ex bars. but sometime you just playing footsies and poke with c. mp and it connects, then you can bam!!!.. hit them with a super too. that’s my 2 cents on one use of c. mp link super.

can you also help me vs sagat too?
I mean there’s this one sagat player here that gives me a ton of trouble, whenever i crossup on wake up with jumping mk, i go for block strings then he just straight up dp’s me. So of course i wait it out, punish him for it with hp, hp.dp. Then he stops doing it and throws me instead… so would backdash be a viable way to safely get out of that mixup?

Also what’s a good way to move in on Sagat? From what I’ve seen/played against, i always see sagat’s spamming fb. I wait it out then focus them and shoot some back, but it always seems to be coming down to fb’s. Should i just be patient and bait him in? His fucking jump in combo is disgusting, just fucking like jump in mk or hk(?), forward into tiger whatever… does a ton of dmg… can’t stand that… then when i jump in, all he has to do is f+hk X(…

sagat is too strong

hey i’m a relative newbie to sf4, i’ve only played like a total of 2 hours on it. I notice other players hitting someone with FA and their opponent goes into that stagger/stun animation and they dash in to hit them with a combo. my question is, what is the proper timing for that dash? I’ll hit someone with an FA and try to dash in but i always dash late for some reason.

also, any advice vs a blanka player?

Another thing you can also do is FA his little ball cross-ups (If they even attempt to use it). Just remember that Ryu should control the Blanka match up. If he’s just crouching mid-screen waiting for a jump to up-ball or a fireball to slide under, forget it. Just back up and throw fireballs full screen.

As for Sagat, it’s hard for everybody. When I start the match though, I just back up and throw fireballs and see if they’re more patient than I am. If they aren’t (most of the time), they’ll just try to get to you, and if you anti air them, you now have control of the match, and now they’ll chase you down because they want to hit you. No need to work hard trying to get in on that wall.

If they are more patient than you and throw fireballs with no end (I usually try to make them come to me for about 40 secs on the clock XD), I then try to get in. Not by air though, by ground. Sagat’s AA game is too good. That’s all I can really say.

yes I saw her. she is not so bad like 13000 point. but she abuse of ultra. 1 ultra by round at least … just have to wait ant punish it( pressure when fuerte wake up with light P or K and if he lend ultra just jump up and punish ^^

I played a couple of el fuerte but one is really good. My problem is that whtever he choose at wake up I don t know how to deal with. like Throw I should jump back, and stomack splash I should go forward to avoid the cross up. back dash doesn t work. I get throw and the splash touch me.

I think It s just a lack of Versus. I just need to versus more.

I win a couple of time about him using some throw and making bid damage combo.
I use huricane kick too. It surprise them as they are running to have there distance.

Today I played a stong Vega player( claw) even if he is down on the tier list it s quiet hard. His throw re anoying his dash are very fast , not easy match up. Just as el fuerte the good thing is the poor resistance.

anyway do you wana meet on sunday? do you know any other rcade place with strong opponment like tons of grand master grade?

Today I made a good combo against a not so good player

SA Dash Forward fierce punch standing mp hado sa cancel dash downm MK hado SA cancel dash MK hurican kick. you neep full super meter or e little bit less as the first part of the combo will give you more than half a meter. so 3 meter and half is good.
I think it make more domage that SA dash Forward fierce Standing mp Shoryu cancel super.

I add another one than I use in the corner after a jump or SA

Down MP Down HP hado sa cancel dash Down Mp down hp hado SA cancel dash Down MK huricane kick

you can t do down Mp Hp a 3r time. opponment is to far. I m not sure you can so Down MK shoryu instead of huricane ckick but if you can damage should be better

generally I don t have full super meter so I just 1 cancel and instead of hado the second time just hurican kick

Once you have done hurican kick you will be in the corner that can surprise you opponment so LK LP shoryu them as they wake up. I add that in this situation you can Down MP Down Lp shoryu ^^

anyway hado SA cancel dash is a great pressure tool even if it cost 2 metter it s not worth especialy when there is no more life. you can cancel and dash and then throw…^^

I have one question.

there is a situation always appening aggainst some opponment
(typically ken) Ken will throw you and then jump as a cross up with lowkick then throw again or lk throw or lk lp throw or lk lp lp kara throw etc etc

so i wan know if you can do a reverse shoryuken as anti cross up
everytime i try i just eat the cross up if i do reverse shoryuken and if i do normal shoryuken then it will wiff and i get punish.

are they any way to shoryuken this kind of cross up or just have to protec?
