Im mad because the replay channel is awesome. Why put a awesome replay channel in a game that is terrible to watch?

Even PoongKo can’t make this game interesting to watch. And he’s part of the few that uses a verity of characters.

Jins C DP led to 3000

Ragna DP led to 3000, 22C oki, and built almost 50 meter
Makoto DP could lead to 5000 damage
Taokaka’s CA led to 3000 damage
Hazama Jayoku Hotenjin led to at least 6000 and built 50 heat. 8000 if he started with full meter. 10000 with one gold burst, 13000 with two gold bursts.

The issue had been largely patched out at this point.

Keep in mind this was a game where the average HP was 11000.

Its a ranting thread. Nothing here will change anything for anyone, as if it matters if anyone listens to me. In addition, its not the fact that I’m jumping in and getting DPed. its the fact that I jump in, he blocks, I attempt to continue a string and he gets frame advatange and DPs out of it. I also think people need to stop calling it an anti-air. For the most part since SFIV, i’ve seen this move barely used as an anti-air and more a move mashed out in hopes of hitting that gigantic reversal window in stupid flowchart fashion. Herp derp DP in the middle of your string! Did he block? Yes? FADC BACK! No? FADC FORWARD ULTRA! Its become more and more brainless and less of an anti-air since IV.

Every time Ryu’s DP will beat me or trade in his favor. Then again I’m not using top tiers so maybe that’s my issue? If I jump in like a moron and get DPed, I deserved it hands down. But if I’m on the offensive and you are blocking, you shouldn’t be able to DP out of my string simply because ā€œHe’s Ryu and should always have an invincible startup on DPā€

  1. Yeah, not all alpha counters are great. To me this is part of deciding which characters are good/bad… having a good alpha counter is something you probably had to give up other parts of your game to get (whether Capcom really thought like this, I dunno). I’m not sure all alpha counters need to be great… for example, Ryu’s is not great at all, but do you want Ryu to have a good one in comparison to the rest of his tools? Do you want Kazuya and Raven to have great anti-air options at all ranges?

  2. Even if you spend one bar, you are trading bars with your opponent and you come out way on top (120 damage to both of their characters, 20 chip on one character to you). If you choose to spend 2 bars, you get a great reward. If you choose to spend 0 bars, you can take a risk with a meterless punish against both characters, or you can just block the pressure out. He spent the bar, so either you should spend the bar to counter the advantage, try to punish meterlessly, or take the mixup. I understand your dislike for this situation revolves around him choosing to engage in this mixup while he is on defense vs offense, and since this is a ranting thread it’s your right to rant about it. I guess it just doesn’t bother me as much because games with unstoppable offense are the hardest to sell to beginners (people are complaining about walk jab in this game… hardly suffocating!), so I can see why they give certain characters good options on defense.

You’re right, some characters like Hugo have to manage his bar ā€œbetterā€ than others… to me, this is part and parcel with choosing to pick that character. I don’t see it really as a negative, especially considering the damage he does if he touches you. You typically have to block really well with all grapplers anyway.

To me this basically sounds like you hate the idea of any move with invincibility up to the first active frame. Do you get upset when Rolento mashes EX patriot circle inbetween your block strings and hits you? If he tags, he gets the same damage as Ryu (more or less)… the only difference is that Rolento’s has higher startup so sometimes you can pull back a jab, and EX patriot can’t be used as anti-air. Several characters without a ā€œtrue DPā€ have a move like this. Do you dislike them all? Honest question.

Ryu has been blowing through block strings using DP for a lot longer than SF4 or SFxT. In many older games he could psychic DP if you ever pressed a button, and it was essentially unpunishable from many ranges. It didn’t even break SF4 once the game evolved, the series where it was used the most often, with the most reward for the least risk. I’m not really convinced it will do much to SFxT in the long run either… let the game evolve a bit IMO.

Yeah I also don’t like it much when Rolento does it. Alpha counters aside I think its stupid that advantage goes to a defender especially in a game like this where 1 mashed out DP can lead to 400-500 damage. EX moves I forgive because you are actually spending meter to do it. Meter that you earned. But if you have no meter due to poor meter management and I’m nailing my links, I feel random move into tag/safety/400-500 damage is stupid. Its why I don’t like FADC defensively, only offensively (despite me knowing full well it adds a layer of strategy to the meta game).

Reason why I don’t mind Ryu blowing up strings pre IV (even to some extend I don’t mind it all that much in IV) is because it didn’t lead to half a health bar gone. Even a random DP ultra in IV doesn’t do half damage, so to me that is acceptable. Again this is all personal preference to me as I was just ranting my own thoughts in this rant thread.

People get just as salty when I flashkick cancel during their blockstrings… @ least its not mashable…

This game had me excited for the first couple weeks. Now it’s just boring. I even have all the DLC characters, but I still find no excitement. I tried watching the Wolfkrone stream with him playin this game, soooo boring and repetitive shit. I didn’t buy this game so I don’t feel COMPLETELY cheated, but I couldn’t imagine how much salt I would have had I did purchase this pile of shit.

Juri’s backdash. All that hard work for such a short distance. I could do a better back walkover irl land I have no FSE :P. Very aesthetically displeasing in general. (Been irked by it since SSIV)

I kind of like it. It feels good to see one guy with 10,000 bp and his teammate has 200.
You play ok/safe vs 10k man, then once he switches, you go to town on them.
Then you win your measly 50 but they lose a combined 80+ or so.
I like to think of this causing friendships to break down behind the scenes. A nice E! special in a few months.
