For the crowd. For the swag. Style like you mean it.
I get the mentality of playing it safe and going for easier stuff with the 100% guarantee (I’m guilty of this with Asuka while playing online a lot of times because PSN…), but if it’s something you can do even semi-reliably you should go for it imo.
More damage > Less damage, barring things like sacrificing damage for positioning.
If it’s not unplinkable, why not plink? 2f links arn’t that hard.
Even if you drop it, it’s just more practice under your belt. Eventually it’ll click. I was doing asuka’s f+mp > lp 1f link at 100% success rate (barring lag…FUUUUUUUU PSN) before 2013 dropped.
But once again, the difference is EXTREMELY small. Now, hard combos vs. easy ones is one thing, but there’s hardly a difference made in this scenario. The ONLY benefit I get from this (it shouldn’t be plinkable + I don’t know how to do that on a controller (or at all! :D)) is that I could cancel the sweep into a CADC > throw/tick throw/overhead/ Air Raid attempt. It’s not that much to gain because, primarily, the standard way of doing it is already really safe. Only person I need to worry about otherwise is M. Bison.
and Alisa with her Cr.hp and possibly some others. Actually you can get punished for that by nearly every character with a SA…but that costs meter…meterless not a whole lot. Hopefully that gets fixed where hwo gets a BC nerf right up his ass…then free punishes for me all day for hwo’s being derpy…I love it!
You actually get the proper knockdown time since you recover like 10 frames faster, but I didnt say this because I think its something Hwoarang players should be doing, mp mp sweep in general is not something Hwoarang players should be doing, I just brought it up because you said ‘I cant delay the sweep after mp mp’
Also its not only Bison, Law, Bryan, Akuma, and a few others I’m probably not thinking of right now can all punish sweep boost chain from Hwoarang. For Law its guaranteed 340 damage or 250+knockdown setup, for Bryan its guaranteed 280ish damage, Akuma its a guaranteed sweep followed by a mixup. And thats just meterless punishes
Alisa won’t reach me with cr. HP unless I do it at like…point blank distance. No one’s gonna use a super art to punish the maneuver, so why bother worrying about it? Also, if Hwo gets a boost chain nerf (again), Bison’s getting it harder. I don’t see why he would though. It’s hardly the boost chain’s fault more than it’s the sweep’s fault. If they really had to nerf something, it’d be the sweep, not his chains…again…
Oh.
And it is something I think they should be doing. It adds a new element to the mind games. “Is he gonna do Dynamite Heel, CADC > throw, CADC > low, CADC > overhead, Chainsaw, sweep, CADC > back dash, or command dash > EX Dynamite?” If they start blocking one, you have a TON of options you can utilize.
Never seen Law punish it. Not sure what he can punish it with. Bryan can punish nearly anything, and of course Akuma’s sweep can punish it. It’s AKUMA’S sweep. >_>
Everything Bryan can punish Law can punish as well, b+mp chain is 9 frame startup, Bryan’s f+mk chain is 10, and they both travel approximately the same distance. And mp mp sweep is not really a mindgame, there is no reason to automatically block high after the first mp because the lp overhead is reactable to and the second mp cant be delayed nearly as much as the lp is delayed. CADC overhead doesnt really work because again, its just too slow for it to work, good players who know when to press buttons against Hwo will not be hit by that stuff. Then again even at tournaments I often see ‘good players’ being clueless as to when to press buttons against Hwoarang so maybe Im just giving my opponents too much credit
Just had about 3 occasions to go for a Pandora finish but the brains just said “nope”. Must be the warm weather… Heat, why u torture me and influence my play?!
I used to love this game…played every week with my best friend online for almost a year. We were one of the best ryu/ken teams around ( well over 10k). Than ver.2013 hit… after playing for a month we gave up. I hate this game now and never play anymore but still occasionally watch the old replays from the original 2012 version to remember how much fun we had. This game is a fucking Tekken poke into dial-up combo fest now. Every thread I go into is nothing but people discussing strategies about Tekken characters. Boy do I miss the original Street fighter x Tekken that almost played like a street fighter tag online with perfect netcode.
How cute. Mind posting some links of these matches? Oh nvm, you guys were probably abusing safe abc, dp tag cancel, safe donkey kick and stupid air tatsus. I feel you, this game is nothing for you anymore.
Don’t take it seriously. He once stated that zoning and grapplers aren’t viable anymore, the entire SF cast turned low tier,…
Ryu/Ken is still a powerful team, one of the best official SF teams in the game. They counter quite a lot of Tekken characters, have good zoning, damage,… Netcode still good. IDK what to think.
No we hardly used ABC combos, mostly links, zoning, anti airs, and yes cross-up hurricane for Ryu & Ken which was nerfed to hell. God forbid I use cross-ups to open up my opponents instead of walk back and forth footsies into dial-up combos. Point blank reversal Shoryukens now trade with tons of tekken moves and have HUGE recovery. Donkey kick had already been nerfed pre-2013 which was ok. Tekken characters now have better anti-airs that lead to huge damage juggle combos that the street fighter cast doesn’t have. Ryu and Ken suck now as they are a defensive team to a large degree and defense all around was hugely nerfed in 2013. ( recovering life is now nothing which is very important to shotos with lower damage combos than the Tekken cast). I know what I’m talking about. Yes ryu/ken are still strong against the street fighter cast but at a high level post 2013 EVERYONE plays Tekken characters into footsies. It’s fine if you like the current style of the game but myself and many others peaced out after 2013 and went back to sf4.
Footsies are important. That is one of the key things about this game that sets it apart from other games, such as Marvel. Footsies are important in SF4 as well, but they’re a bit watered down since we have Focus Attacks and whiff punishing is so difficult. In this game you are actually rewarded for making a good read about your opponent’s button presses (as opposed to a series of 50/50 guesses).
However, I do concede that Ryu and Ken got some nerfs, and while Ryu’s changes kinda sucked, I think Ryu and Ken are still great. Yes, DP Tag is unsafe, which sucks, but it was far too rewarding to be safe.
My rant about Ken is that his hitconfirms are freaking hard to do in comparison to Ryu. And why can’t he link into Cr. HP reliably? I know hit confirms are less important than footsies in this game, but it’s Ken. One of his hallmarks is his ability to convert in SF4. I would probably play Ken as one of my mains if it weren’t for that. Ah well. At least we have dat 2-frame Super Art.
The community has to respect the opinion of former sfxt players unsatisfied with the current metagame. I see this neverending argument between both parties…either play both games or stick to your own games. Stop it with the First world problems.
I don’t know about these nerf arguments man. Akuma’s defensive options got nerfed pretty badly, but I still use him. Can hardly call this character loyalty because I main Dudley in SF4.
Instead of being whiny about nerfs, you should try your best to find new tech and to improve as a player (there is always room for improvement)
Can’t deny that the Tekken side is strong, but the SF side is far from being weak.
Honestly though. Do you think Vanilla was better? Wasn’t it pretty much the opposite back then? Ryu, Rolento, Sim, Rufus, Chun, Cody or gtfo unless you played Jin, Kaz or Raven? There were just a handful of Bob and Yoshi players. Ver. 2013 made more characters viable, but I see how you as an SF4 player dislike it.
I can’t blame people talking about Tekken characters either. They are (for the most part) more interesting as you will probably never see them in a 2d fighter again.
Yeah I still want to see replays. You didn’t post any links the last time either. People might be able to help you. But I bet you don’t want help. Complaining is easier.
Why do SF4 players want other FG’s to play just the same?
