Capcomunity: probably won’t have the pro players in it, but Cross Assault is in a few weeks so that’ll be 5 days of matches”

Discuss. If this is the case, there is no way in hell I am watching Cross Assault.

for me this game looks like totally shit since day one nothing hype about this ‘wathsoever’ the game system seems pushed and the gem feels too try hard and they recycle the same boring shit as before I hope something will turn the hype for me but as for now…NO
Capcom you aint getting my money for this garbage

I’m a tolerant fellow for the most part. Many of the complaints on this thread don’t bother me in the slightest (art style, DLC, too many mechanics, how the Tekken cast was implemented, etc, etc). I’ll list my few greivances here, because they’re serious enough to annoy even me.

  1. Pre-order/otherwise exclusive DLC Gems. I am fine with the Gem System in principle. I am fine with Capcom’s Gem System in principle. I am even fine, at a push, with the idea of DLC gems per se, so long as they are balanced with the original gems, all open for everyone to access and people can decide for themselves whether to pay for them, and which ones to buy if any. What I am NOT fine with is a situation where you must put down an extra $10 or so when you initially buy the game for the Special Edition, or miss out on 20-40 (the precise number escapes me at the moment) permenantly, most of which people probably don’t even want. So far there’s been no hint these Gems will be available, and some of them look substantially better than the ones that come on the disc. The Gem system can work well, but only if everyone has access to the same set of tools, whether they choose to use them or not.

  2. Pac-Man and Mega Man (and other Guests) being PS3 only. I own a PS3, and I am delighted I will be able to main Cole MacGrath. But there is NO reason whatsoever why these characters, who don’t have any great ties to the Playstation, should be limited to one platform and not the other. It just annoys the 360 fans for nothing, especially as they have no Guest Fighters of their own. If there are to be console-exclusive characters at all, make it like Yoda and Vader in SC4, and make them available as DLC for the other platform in due time (thus also allowing them to be used in tournaments, which is a benefit to everyone).

  3. Toro and Kuro. Again, no issue with Guest Fighters, but at least make them try to fit with the world of the crossover. Cole fits well with the general aesthetic of SFXT. A pair of silly cats who can’t even fight in their own games do not.

  4. So many of the SFII cast being in the game. I’m not ungrateful for the likes of Poison, Hugo, Rolento, etc, but SF has a very rich history. Surely we could have had more representation from SFIII in particular? Oro, Necro, Q, etc would have been fine choices and I’d gladly take them over Boxer (especially since we have both Steve AND possibly Dudley in the game as well) or Dhalsim. A similar worry is how many of the SFIV cast seem to have been recylced for this game rather than bringing back more of the likes of Karin, Mika, etc.

  5. DLC characters- if the rumour about Cody/Guy/Leo/Christie being DLC is correct, I will be annoyed even considering the cheap price, as there’s no reason why these characters couldn’t be in the game from the start.

  6. Minor, personal gripe- No Devil Jin VS Evil Ryu, Capcom? That fight is begging to be had, but it seems we’re waiting for Namco’s version for it. Also, I’m disappointed there is no Charlie or Lei Wulong in the game. This isn’t really a fair criticism, as I know Capcom can’t please everybody, but I’m still disappointed.

I’m no master with words, so I’ll just use this instead

The necos where never fun, why do you think you can pull it off, Capcom?!

You’ve never seen a modded xbox 360 or PS3???

Anyway… The Video Game industry crashed once before and the advent of casual games combined with studio greed and piracy is probably going to bring about a downturn at some point. To much saturation of entertainment product on a populace with dwindling disposable income ain’t good for business…

Making characters DLC-only is a terrible idea. Just because it was already done in MVC3 doesn’t mean it’s not a terrible, horrible idea that should perpetually burn alive in a fire, along with the hearts of all those who view fighting games as nothing but disc-shaped ATMs.

DLC costumes are fine as they do not affect gameplay, it is slightly annoying to see a “costume not available” blinking in the loading screen but I can live with that if it means more money goes to my favorite fighting game.

Making anything that affects gameplay (weapons, gems, etc.) paid DLC fragments the player-base and actively undermines online competition.

I am not happy with this turn of events. I may be able to afford to buy the DLC because I am old and jobful, but tens of thousands of younger and/or poorer players won’t, thus the game is now a worse-off place for me as well.

This is just as bad as poker tournaments where players are allowed to buy-in again indefinitely because it makes more money for the casino.

i MAY still get this game…months later

I have seen an Modded Xbox but not PS3. I used to have a modded Xbox.

But it’s still not quite as easy as pirating on a PC. If I wanted a pirated game on PC, all I have to do is go torrent it. No modifications needed to be done to my system. I can also still play my legit copies of games online.

But to mod an Xbox I have to either learn how to do it and buy the tools or pay someone to do it for me, then figure out how to burn the games on the DVD’s and such and oh–what’s this? A New update to the system and game? But this would mean I can’t play online anymore and oh what’s this?? My console is banned!?! Guess I’ll have to buy a new one.

It was this hassle and the fact that I value online gaming more than single-player games that made me ditch getting my Xbox modded. I’m sure the producers are also aware of this and it is why they ditch PC releases.

Lei has been confirmed…

  1. I posted that before ESRB rating came out.

  2. He hasn’t been confirmed but heavily hinted as being in the game.

well there are no others in street fighter or tekken who have the drunken master style…

I just saw a video showing SC5 character editor…looks awesome and with a lavel of customization I’ve probably never seen before in any game, you don’t have to pay extra cash to use it and there’s no dlc accessories to buy as far as I know. And I’m pretty sure they spent a lot of time to make it.

…Meanwhile in SFxT…you have to pay the price of a complete XBL Arcade just to [S]download[/S] unlock one single ugly extra costume for each character. And I’m pretty sure all costumes together took less effort to make than SC5 editor.

How does anything make sense in this industry anymore?

But there’s always worse: in 3S:OE and Blazblue they expect you to pay for their ugly experiments with palette swapping.

For those that have played SF X T does it still play slow and very defensive like SF 4.I cant really tell by the videos.I love the feel of 3rd strike but SF4 just feels like there is something missing. (sorry for the random noob question) .

Its Fasters than Sf4 wait tell you equip speed Gems…:coffee:

Here’s a vid form Capcoms fight club like 2 days ago.http://www.youtube.com/user/Wakeupshoyu?feature=mhee#p/u/3/HZkjt65LFQs

Is it true that the move lists posted were/are incomplete? Apparently Akuma has no air fireball or SRK, lol. I’m gonna try to buy this game used just to stick it to Capcom with their awful DLC practices. Cody and the other characters should be FREE.

Yes, some of them are missing moves.

they only listed a certain number of moves, as they didn’t have enough room to list them all. tekken characters have alot of moves(most are not general sf notations) and obviously Akuma having alot of moves, they all wouldn’t be listed…same with Abel not having change of direction’s listed.

There’s already 3 DLC packs confirmed for the Create a Soul Editor not to mention the preorder DLC packs included in game.
DLC Music
Dampierre being a best buy exclusive character
3 Mimic characters
Rushed game, no arcade endings for any characters (and Soul Calibur casuals fans like that shit and there’s lots of them)

Enjoy playing online and fighting people putting multiple dicks all over their characters! Netcode is pretty godlike though, shame fuck all bought it for XBL in Australia. I haven’t been able to play 1 ranked match yet in 10 hours (5 online, 5 offline split between story, training and create a soul) and I have to resort to hanging out in the Tokyo lobby to get 3 bar games for the most part.
