The Official Ranting Thread

Yeah, stupid me. :frowning:

I guess I haven’t fully matured in using Nina yet.

Quoted so you both see this… Literally went to click invite and you both logged off dammitwtfbbqarrrrgh

:-p

I’m still testing my new PC, so I cannot do online matches yet. It doesn’t help that I keep getting disconnected on GFWL again. :frowning:

Ah, I gotcha. No big, was pretty funny. :-p

I got annoyed with the warping issues and went back on psn :stuck_out_tongue:

Dude, same here. Connections I played today were decent but its annoying when you can’t react because the frames are being dropped constantly. >_>

What’s weird is that it didn’t start out like that. Ah we’ll, we’ll get matches somehow, someday. :-p

Ah those good ol Gief matchups eh? It’s videos like these that make me want to post mine of me beating higher ranked Giefs but alas no HD PVR.:frowning:
Like everyone said, no need to really jump at Gief. I don’t pretend to be a Ryu expert so I’ll stick to the Nina side of things, I saw you jump in on Gief when he was waking…no…no. Space then Ivory Cutter…this conditions a Gief player to stand on wakeup and not crouch block. If you land Ivory Cutter on a Gief’s wakeup rest assured they’re gonna be looking for it again, that’s when you hit them with cr.mk into geyser instead(this can be unsafe if all they do is fish for poke into launcher but for the terrible ones just backdash afterwards if they guessed right). I didn’t see that Gief use Banishing Flat(green hand)so bleh, he wasn’t all that special, just charging for super armor and counter but when you do play a Zangief that uses banishing flat to advance on you, go into flash kicks into geyser for a free punish just for future notice. Better luck next time though champ.

Tell him to “stop being a victim”

Guy is officially the new “flavor of the month.” I’ve noticed most of the Ryu and Kazuya players have converted to playing Guy now. I guess they figure his antics are annoying enough to net free wins.

Starts looking into Guy

why is your match speed so slow? it’s going at like 80% speed of a normal match

I almost never stand on wakeup as gief for 2 reasons:
-lariat is a solid enough AA to where unless it’s a meaty jump in/overhead or spaced perfectly I’ll beat it.
-most characters dont really have much damage potential off landing an overhead or mid (with a few exceptions)

green hand is complete ass compared to it’s SF4 Version. At least in SF4 he had complete invincibility on the EX version. Now they are not only unsafe on block and hit, they are now able to be beat by a poke because no i frames on a 15 frame startup. the only time to use green hand is inside a combo and only the ex version because it KD’s on hit making it safe. I mean you can still use it to go through fireballs but the meter typically isnt worth it IMO. It’s really only good in one specific situation where the opponent is controlling the space that keeps you just outside SPD range. Thing is that if the opponent is smart or good enough to keep you outta SPD range they typically arent going to throw a predictable fireball. There’s just no reason to take that kinda risk, particularly if Gief does not have the life lead. If Gief has the life lead then he doesnt care if you fireball or not because he can simply wait out the timer and stalemate you while controlling the space in front of him locking you into the corner.

I swear I could press Lars’s Roundhouse button, go get a sandwich, do my laundry, load up another xbox, get into a match, finish it, and still have enough time to buffer silent entry before it hits.

That’s how I get my wins against them. Like you said though most characters overheads don’t carry damage potential, Nina’s does though if spaced right. Most characters have to use meter to tag someone in to combo off an overhead but hers is unique in that if the first hit whiffs and the 2nd hit lands it’s a ground bounce into a combo. The match up is in Giefs favor but it’s not an overwhelming disadvantage if you got good footsies. He owns those Russian skies though, gotta guess right on those 50/50 jump ins. For some reason I don’t get hit with lariat as much by Gief…then again I don’t jump much on him either.

nothing like an obvious whiff cLK to bait a jump to have them realize “Oh shit he recovered already”

If nina’s overhead is the pinwheel cheerleading lookin move, honestly i don’t see it enough to really look for it.

If you dont jump in against gief at all the whole round (including that teleport jump kick thing which WILL lose to reaction lariat) you have no reason to get hit by more than 2 at most per round (being used as a reversal on wakeup for example).

You play Raven tho so that well more than makes up for the Nina disadvantage. Just throw a star and run away the whole match. Gief has to spend a meter to EX Green hand to punish the teleport and that’s only if he’s quick enough to hit. Gief only wins against Raven if Raven really really fucks up bad.

The actual match itself is normal speed, but when recorded in FRAPS the framerate drops down to around 30. My only solution so far is to use a different music and adjust the speed of the video to match the length of the music hence the video. That’s the reason why I don’t use the actual game sounds.

Regarding the match itself, I shouldn’t have been foolish to over-rely on Nina’s j.HK and when I watched this video I kept on asking myself why do I have to attack Zangief while he’s charging.

I know, right? Sometimes, I wish there was an option to see the replay, shoved in my face, right after the match is done. I know it would give me a new perspective on things, alas I can’t be bothered to navigate the clunky menus for a couple minutes after every single game…

…whoa, hold on! Am I ranting about myself??

WHAT IN THE HELL HAPPENED TO MY SAVED REPLAYS!? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :o

This is why you put all of your matches up on youtube. :wink2:

I never expected them to disappear after I formatted my hard drive. I always thought that they are supposed to be saved online and not on my PC. :frowning:

Made me want to shout this:

Well, since I have two computers (a desktop where I play online and a laptop where I practice on the go), I learned first hand that your replays are saved on your PC. Though I assumed that was the case since that was the way it was with SF4 (since you could access your replays even when you weren’t online).

That must suck though. I do have a good amount of our matches saved though…not all of them though. :stuck_out_tongue:
