These bad marketing “decisions” aren’t bad for casuals who made up most of the sales for SFIV, Tekken 6, MK9 and SCIV in the first place… To sum up why these concenrs are laughable.
UMVC3 = Gets cheered @ NYCC - Than goes on to be a complete sales failure
SFxTK = Gets boo’d @ NYCC - Will ship 2 million copies in the first month.
The FCG makes up a small % of sales, thats why games like KOF and Blazblue are going to sell fuck all since they only get attention from a small part of the FCG as is. When DOA was selling millions on Xbox it wasn’t the FGC pushing those sales…
i think a few post back i was saying something similar about SFxTK in its general design philosophy, or in another thread~
point is i think it should be known that Most Fighting Games (except for a few) are not geared towards the fighting game community~ Some thing its ass backwards but its how things are.
its funny how you mention DOA as it was always a successful brand (- the off titles) but the community for said game is…non-existent? lolz…but the point is, even though DOA…and MK before MK9 didn’t have much of a FG community but their games always sold way more then Tekken or any KOF…its funny how things work out.
I really don’t have a problem with people saying this game will suck or the FGC community is going to banish it, fuck I don’t care say that shit, it’s all opinion anyway. But when they try and tie it into this game selling crap with casuals who consist of the majority of sales all because it’s not to their hardcore taste? lol get fucking real and get a clue.

lolz~ Westlo you keep it realz~ but yeah its kinda ignorant of people to think that most Fighting Games should revolve around the Fighting Game community. Its almost as bad as Fanboys wanting Every Final Fantasy to be VII…and you know how that goes…but its cool to see eye to eye on somethings~

At least thats what I distinctively recall from my childhood. SF on the other hand has never been appealing to hardcasuals.
And Tekken hasn’t had that level of casual appeal since Tekken Tag, TTT2 is pretty much T6+ so people expecting it to come back to the glory days of T3/TTT are misplacing their hopes. The only reason that Tekken 6 sold so much is that Namco Bandai flooded their distribution channels… this shit was in the bargin bins within a month where I live, Soul Calibur IV was still full price for like a year after.
Tekken is a pretty hardcore game atm… especially in South East Asia.
not only you bash on tekken…you lived under a rock for most your life too…gezz…i guess you don’t realize that SF is mostly played by causals then the hardcore…but i guess you wouldn’t because your on SRK and you could give a shit about tekken…again…being ignorant is bliss…
I’m not bashing on Tekken and I’m not saying you can’t take it serious. I’m just saying that Tekken1/2/3(/4?) were mostly played by 5-10 year olds that hardmashed on their PS1/2 pads because stuff happens and Yoshimitsu and King look pretty darn cool. Stating Tekken was “for the most part always” a game for serious FG players with no appeal to hardcasuals is just wrong (You could say that about… Guilty Gear, but not about Tekken).
SF isn’t very appealing to kids because it’s not 3D and characters look less fancy and less stuff happens if you just press buttons randomly.

Why is it that in all the gameplay Ive seen the gameplay looks soo retarded and unattractive to my competitive Eyes O.o. Is it cuz ppl haven’t had enuff time yet or is it the game? And the stupid goofy music doesnt help either.
The music is cute, but I can see it getting old really fast. I got my SFxT playlist ready to go on my PS3…
I’m not very fond of the music either, and Poison looks kinda gross to me. I don’t see any attractive about her at all.
