IIRC, yes. The USB power lines go almost directly to the battery.
You don’t, which is one of the design flaws of the Q3.
If you mean when it no longer charges properly, then it will need to be replaced. I’m not sure with what model but fairly straight forward to do. Alternatively you could do what I’m trying and modify it with a wired PS360 board or Datel PCB. This means you won’t need to worry about charging the stick and it will also be tournament legal.
Stupid question: can the Q3 PS3 wireless stick be plugged in and operated as a wired stick off the box or can you mod it to convert it into a wired stick?
Apologies if this has already been made clear in this thread…
No it cannot, the USB port seems to be only connected to the battery for charging purposes. I had my Q3 dual modded, in the process, Qanba’s PCB had to be ripped out(not a common ground PCB) along with the battery and the dual modded PCBs had to be rewired to the USB port and the plug had to be replaced with another type.
A local member dual modded my stick and kept me up to date about what he had to do.
Again, thanks for Chowwun for dual modding my Q3 and for the updates with pictures.
Qanba Q series/EMP, HRAP VLX/VX/V3, SE and TE sticks all use the Vewlix layout, spacing might differ but only by a couple of millimeters.
The HRAP 2, 3 and EX, Sega VSHG and older models of sticks use the Sega Astro/Blast/Net/Cyber City layout.
The Wireless Q3 has a battery bar/meter when you on the home screen (just like the dualshock pads, a 3 bar battery to indicate power levels). Anytime it’s connected via USB it is charging. It shouldn’t take that long to charge it to full capacity. So what actually happens when you try to use it? It just continues flashing and that’s it?
EDIT: Sorry, I didn’t see. Yes I can 100% confirm that the normal Q3 and the EMP sticks have the same exact layouts. I know this because all the clear plexis I sell fit on all Q3 sticks. It’s funny though, as I hear alot of other people saying that the button placements are different compared to TEs/EMP. Guess it’s just your mind playing tricks, especially because the Q3 has the Vewlix look with the white borders around the buttons (makes them look warped)…
Just chiming in to see if the Qanba Wireless Real Arcade Fightingstick Q3 can be played with a USB wire (this might’ve been answered, but I need to be sure and specific given the price):
If I didn’t read the above posts incorrectly, you’re actually just playing it wireless, but then it charges when plugged into the PS3?
I don’t normally know how wireless sticks work, but how is input delay?
In any event, someone brought this to SFSU yesterday and I need to chime in at how great the stick is; I was landing mad Dudley combos on the thing yesterday.
Good job, guys; keep up the good work.
EDIT:
That being said, is there actually a wired model for the PS3 [on play-asia]?
At the end of the day, I’d rather just go that route to be sure.
Uh, yeah, sorry for double post, but I watched the video posted above and I’m to undertand that the Q4 will be multi-platform?
If that is the case, will it be wired or wireless?
Yeah, these were probably answered somewhere in the thread, but I’d like direct feedback… plus, I guess it helps put out the word to casual onlookers if it’s in the latest posts?
Dual compatibility would seriously destroy the current TE and HRAP line-up seeing how that’s really giving a lot more options to anyone that attends casuals and tourneys.
EMP Q3 is wired and PS3 only. Standard Q3 for 360 is wired. Standard Q3 for PS3 is wireless(works exactly the same as a PS3 controller so no lag), connecting the charging USB cable does not make stick wired because the PS3 is only acting as a charging device.
That being said, I’m not sure if I’ll get one now or just wait on the Q4… will be really convenient given that our weekly setups tend to have both consoles.
In any event, is there any info on how often the EMP is restocked at Play-Asia?
really its too much! play asia ask for $100 for shipping its another stick price we talk about here
i really wanna buy one of qanba sticks but the shipping cost is over:shake:
the funny thing i live in asia
I think QanBA has a picture along with the specification for the Q4 on their site.
I noticed the approximate weight is only 3kg, which is significantly less than the Q3/EMP?
I was planning to buy a VLX, but upon finding out Q4 supports tri-systems at a much lower price, my focus immediately shifted. I’m a little bummed by the weight reduction though (if it’s true).
The overall design looks much improved, but looking at the pic it seems like there’s no built-in plexi. If there’s no built-in plexi I’ll probably pass on it.
EDIT: I hope someone who knows chinese can translate the specs.
