The Official Qanba Fightstick Thread (New products Coming)

Will i be able to hear game sounds when i plugg in regular head phones into my qanba? because i just got an adaptor and tried using my headphones but i dont hear anything

The “Headphone Jack” is actually only used for the XBOX 360 mic, not to hear game sounds from either system.

So if you read through the comments, toodles himself answers the same question you have. His response:

“Good question. No, I do not think a Qanba user should be concerned. The latency numbers we’re talking about here are crazy small, and would have no effect on gameplay. I am 100% confident that in a blind ‘Pepsi Challenge’ no human could tell the difference. Play with what you have. I will personally laugh in the face of anyone that says they lost because of this small latency difference.”

So through his response, no you shouldn’t be worried. And as for the “slide mash”, while that is one technique, why not try switching it up and using the standard “mash” technique. You should be fine with using the MAS set-up and putting a Battop on using the JLF battop extension and getting a battop.

Trust me when I say high level mvc2 players can tell…
There was an instance where I think srk’er BeatsofD requested to have gunmowwed dual mod his stick with a madcatz fight pad separate pcb. He did it and returned it to him, but he could tell that it wasn’t a fightpad separate pcb because the execution/lag was noticable. He opened up the stick and low and behold, there was a cthulu in there. He was heated to say the least.
I mean buttons work. no lag or whatever, but when you get to advanced tactics and precision combos that require precision timing and simultaneous button pressing and “sliding” 3 button tri jumps in combo there is noticable dropping. (kinda like playing through a converter)
We will see. I will update when I recieve mine from arcade shock. Im sure it wont be a problem for sf4 or mvc3 or whatever games, but mvc2 is a whole different story…
Oh yeah, I ordered a plexiglass with last 6 buttons with NO START button cutout. (I plan on abandoning it or relocating it)

That makes no sense.

A Mad Catz Fightpad pcb would only be used to add 360 support to a stick. A PS3 Mad Catz Fightpad would not be used. So assuming the guy had a 360 arcade stick and he wanted PS3 added, then the logical choice would be to add a Cthulhu board.

The suggestion that even the most basic Cthulhu board has more lag than a Mad Catz pad is, to be frank, laughable.

who said anything about ps3??? We use MAS sticks with Happ parts. They only come in ps2/dreamcast.
We HAVE to add xbox360. The lagless option for us is the official xbox madcatz fightpad (6 button face). Period.

Even the ones arcadeshock sells for $250+ are modded with the xbox360 fightpads.

We are NOT talking about ABC combos FYI

Still does not make sense.

Basic Cthulhu boards only add PS3 support, not 360. So why would someone add a Cthulhu board to a stick that only needed a 360 option? If adding a MC Cthulhu board then it still makes no sense as you are saying there is lag when played on 360?

“FYI” there is no such thing as a lagless option.

excuse me on the mc cthulhu or cthulhu or chimp or whatever it is. He had a mas stick with DC/ps2 connections. CONVERTERS LAG (especially when people swear/praise the inpin/etokki/etc…) Shit lags like no other for MVC2. He had one of those “boards” modded to add xbox360 connectivity. Other games it might or probably IS OK, but for mvc2 shit is GARBAGE. I had that too. I couldn’t play on that…so pad hacking an OFFICIAL wired xbox 360 pad is the only option for “us” (mvc2 players). “FYI” if there is no lagless option, it’s the only playable option for high level play. Not some goon doing a, b, c, magic series combos…there is no lag for that.

Excuse me if im wrong (as I may be), but say…for example a Madcatz TE stick fresh out of the box has lag? Serious question. Because I can tell the difference playing on a unmodified TE stick and a stick that has a cthulu/mc/cthulu chimp…

What board did Gummowned use to add 360 to BeatsofD’s stick? I can tell you now that it was not a Cthulhu or ChImp, so that makes your complaints about Cthulhu boards completely invalid.

You do not seem to understand. There is always lag when playing games, it is not dependant on whatever combo you are doing.

Of course it does.

If you want to discuss this further I suggest you post in the official Cthulhu thread.

no, I don’t want to discuss further. All I know that it doesn’t work for me…my modder uses wired xbox360 controller’s pcb exclusively for best results.

Anything else doesn’t play the same. Up, down, left, right, X, Y, B, A all work when you press it. Seemingly with no lag. But during high level execution its a different story.
All in all, I don’t give a shit…TBH.

I ordered a Qanba Q4raf and there’s no turning back. I’m hoping for the best since I bought it. If it doesn’t work out, i’ll probably sell it and move on to maybe an etokki korean omni or buy another MAS and have it pad hacked again…or fix my current one that broke.

My friend you will be not disappointed

That’s a shame. I was hoping you would provide actual information about BeatsofD’s stick mod instead of just hearsay, but it seems you can’t.

Oh, and if you have a problem with Cthulhu boards then you’re gonna hate Qanba RAF sticks as there’s no ‘exclusive’ 360 pcb. Same with the Omni arcade sticks.

Oh sweet jesus not this crap again.

You willing to put money on that? Dreamcast or PS3, I’ll take it on. You’re wrong about my stuff lagging, and if you’re certain, then I’ve got some easy money for you I’ll setup at Evo.

Please take a moment to do some reading first.

Start there and read through a few pages, I think it covers pretty much everything on the subject. Beats is certain the Cthulhu lags, and I’ve given up on trying to help him; he refused any help to try and point out where the problem with his install in the first stick, and that colored the unfortunate problem with the Gummo mod. Did the dreamcast support on the Cthulhu lag? Nope.

If you have any questions, please post it in the Cthulhu thread. You’re certain that Cthulhus lag, and I’m certain that your install was bad. Im willing to test to prove it; are you?

Bizarrely, I think his complaint is about Cthulhu boards causing lag on a 360.

any pricing on the sticks that can be used both left/right handed players yet? lol

That’s an equally valid possibility on poorly done installs. On good installs that follow the golden rules, nope, doesnt happen.

Like I said, it might not lag…but it doesn’t feel the same. I don’t understand how modders can install wrong when everything seemingly works using “tests”. It all changes when you put it in the field. And you are right, I don’t want want to get into this again…so Beats did have a cthlhu installed correct??? I’ve gone through numerous sticks…the only one I can play on is when it’s padhacked with an official xbox360 wired controller.

This is coming ONLY from an mvc2 standpoint. I’m sure when you use it for SSF4AE UMVC3 blah blah blah, its superb, but it doesn’t work for me
Same goes for these people who praise and swears that “certain” converters such as inpin/etokki or whatever specific converter has “almost” zero lag where you can be “blindfolded” and cant tell a difference

I’m 100% sure you have a great product and you are a very smart and scientific person to make something like that, but I’m saying it doesn’t work for me when I’m playing marvel 2. mvc2 is a whole different beast as far a timing, execution, delaying, etc…

BUT that is besides the point. The point is I bought a Qanba Q4raf and correct me if im wrong, that DOESN’T have a cthulhu/mc cthulhu/whatever I can’t play on. And guess what??? I’m trying it. Thanks for telling me the omni uses the same board too, so I guess I won’t have to try that. If all else fails, I’m going back to MAS systems with happ parts and straight buttons with a bat top and have it pad hacked. Why? It’s because it works for ME.

I’m not buying or selling or convincing that cthulu/mc cthulhu/chimp is a bad or good product…it’s just not for me.

I certainly did not say that. What I did say is that Q4 RAF sticks and Omni sticks do not use an exclusive 360 pcb, which you mentioned previously is what you prefer. If you can magically identify a Cthulhu board causing lag in a dual modded stick, then this is not going to be any different.

While on the subject, you are using incorrect terminology. Official 360 wired pads are only manufactured by Microsoft and are very different to Mad Catz 360 Fightpad variants (which are licensed).
