So I recently purchased the Qanba Q4 but I have one problem, the manual is in Chinese (Qanba is Chinese right?) The only thing I’m not sure of is the mode. Is the stick normally set to D-pad and when mode is lit up it’s analog?
Hi everyone,
a few months ago my friend visited hong kong and i had him buy me Q4 RAF 3in1. ive been using it for a few months now and ive noticed that it would occassionaly pause the game or act like the controller has been disconnected (the controller number lights would blink and lose assignment to whatever control # it was assigned to).
hopefully this is a simple issue that can be handled via simple means.
Light off = DPad, Light on = L Analog. Tested on both PC and XBOX.
ok guys i havent posted in this thread in a bit. But started having a weird issue last night with my stick. On my brothers fatty ps3 (not backwards compatible model) the stick will either turn itself off. or it will start to flash like when you first plug it in. This happened to me last night around 20 times. The weird thing is, i used it on my slim model ps3, and it didn’t happen once. What may be going on?
Some ps3 USB port issue(dirty) or USB port power lower will happen what you said.
Is there anything that can be done about this?
Darn…!
Great time to be broke!
Just heard about the SE edition Qanba’s.
Finally, somebody understands there are people who prefer Seimitsu parts (at least the joysticks)!
Clean the USB port, potentially.
Have you tested the port with any other Arcade Stick/usb controller?
I’m still trying to figure this out… I’ve read that Sanwa buttons are lighter, so I’d probably like that, but what is the difference in sticks? I’m actually buying this 90% to play shooters, so I need to be able to move in precise diagonals, etc… Would both the Sanwa and Seimitsu sticks be able to handle this the same (something about restrictor plates? no idea…). Apparently Seimitsu also has a shorter… engage? Which sounds useful.
Still not sure what warrants the price increase of the Seimitsu SE sticks.
yes other controllers were tested, and nothing bad happened. Also my stick just reset itself on my slim ps3. So annoyed right now.
Well, the replacement panel Qanba sent me just came in today. Here’s a pic of what the finished product looks like:

I think the art came out very well. Many thanks to Qanba for making an six-button template that I used for this. I wanted the “S” symbol to show through between the stick and buttons and it came out beautifully.
Overall, though, I would say that that I have mixed feelings about my new Qanba project. Previously I liked the Q2 a friend bought that I modded. I also loved the EMP that I bought some time ago. Things haven’t gone as well with my Q4. Basically I feel that the purchase of the stick went really well, but buying a conversion kit didn’t really go as planned. I guess a list of pros and cons is in order:
Pro:
- The stick itself works well, and dual-compatibility out of the box is awesome
- Qanba conveniently offers a six-button conversion kit for those who hate eight-button config
- Xianglong was very reasonable with communication, and replaced the defective plexi I first got immediately
Con:
- The Qanba EMP came with clear plexi out of the box. The fact that the Q4 doesn’t feels like a regression
- That first plexi I got was a real doozy. It was nowhere near the correct size for the Q4
- The replacement plexi Xianglong sent me was smaller, BUT STILL TOO BIG. I was able to jam it into the case by force, but it sticks out in several areas like this:

Xianglong told me I might be able to make the plexi smaller by sanding it down, but I have no experience in doing that and am not confident about it. I might try it on the original plexi that was too big to put on the case, if I can find a tutorial somewhere.
I bought my Q4 RAF in Hong Kong and have the exact same issue. I emailed xianglong and he sent me a new PCB and wires (I haven’t had time to install it yet to see if it resolved, though).
I suspect it might be an issue with the older PCB model they mentioned they changed. The shops in Hong Kong probably bought their stock much earlier than the stateside shops.
Still, amazing customer support from Qanba - shipping me new parts at no cost overseas? Madness. Pure, awesome, madness.
Hey guys,
I recently bought a Q4 RAF. The stick is great and so far everything is working perfectly as I test it out on several different games. There is one thing I ran into that concerns me just a bit, though. The model I bought came with clear Sanwa buttons, which is great, but a couple of them are making a squeaking/rusty/worn sound (if that makes sense) when I push them and even give off a little bit of noticeable resistance with light presses. I didn’t really notice the sound until I played a few games with my stereo off. Are these defective in some way? The rest of the buttons are smooth as can be.
This is the particular model I purchased:

Any ideas or help would be much appreciated.
I’m having the same problem, except every one of my buttons makes the squeak sound and give quite a bit of resistance. I thought it was that I probably had to wear them in?
The particular model I bought is:
They both use the clear buttons, I don’t think this is a coincidence…
This is the same issue i have with my Q4. When i first got my Q4 i had this issue, and xianglong sent me another PCB. The issue is still there, So now i don’t know what to do
did anyone ever get the handle shipped to them (for an ice blue)? I was wondering what the eta on those are, though I understand where they’re coming from.
I think that is a known issue with the clear Sanwa buttons. If you take them apart and clean them I have heard that the squeak at least subsides. They can get dust, sweat, etc. in the plunger and it causes resistance and squeaking.
Has there been any clarification on what size the screws are for the Q4 RAF top panel?
Could you clarify some of this for my own curiosity?
Is the ‘older’ model the one with the square SunGa board on top of the big board? Do you know if they’re making both versions still, or are they all the ‘new’ board? Is the new board the one piece (no square SunGa board) model?
can i get his email please? also where do you live? i hope my area is also eligible for that free shipping
