The Official Qanba Fightstick Thread (New products Coming)

I dunno, google searches seem to say that the usb doesn’t transmit data, only charges the battery, so its technically only wireless only. I need to confirm that before I buy though! It seems to be what other forums are saying though! I’m just worried about lag , and plus wireless isn’t allowed in tournaments…

I got this answer from a few pages back:

I’m not sure how the wireless thing goes in tournaments. Since it has a dongle it will only sync to that dongle, unlike in official PS3 and 360 controllers where it syncs with the console’s wireless capabilities.

I’m sure everyone out there with a wireless pad can tell people that they don’t feel the lag, I for one, was a pad player with the PS3 controller and didn’t see any difference from playing with my PS2 pad(wired with a converter) on PS3. Same for the Hori Tekken 6 wireless stick, I think the consensus on it isn’t emphasized on the feature of it being wireless but over lower end quality.

Unless you’re attending EVO, then you’re SoL because they’re the only big tourney that I know that doesn’t allow wireless sticks while I’m sure local ones are lenient enough to allow them since I’m hoping that the Q3 is synced only to the dongle so it’s just like plug and play.

Just got my Q3 today and I’m in love! Design wise, it’s perfect for people who love to show off the face of the stick because there is nothing except for the stick and buttons on the face of the stick! Buttons are beautifully placed and the Q3 itself is soooo sturdy that I can play all day with it on my lap!
Personal mistakes handling the Q3 was taking the Plexi off for no reason, then putting it back on cracking it in one corner and the metallic sticker’s glue is really thick.

Why are the buttons blue? I swear they’re normally white, can you choose?

He switched out his buttons/ball from the modified SE.

Yup, they came from my SE Stick(Sanwa parts I bought earlier).

Actually experiencing some unresponsiveness today. Had a friend come over to play local and while I was sitting less than a meter away from my receiver, commonly certain direction would not input(up, down and some attacks would not work while sometimes it just doesn’t work). Soon after he left, I tried the stick and it was working fine, played it for a hour straight.

Turbo + Select is not resetting the turbo setting I pressed by accident.

I’ve just had a response from qanba on facebook… apparantly the qanba3 works wired with a pc (but not with a ps3 oddly enough…dunno why??)! Seeing as I’m planning to only use it on pc (ggpo), thats great. Could one of you guys, try it out on pc just wired only (ie don’t use the dongle) with ggpo and tell me how it is? I would be very grateful if you could!

Shengee,

Hey, the address got fixed perfectly and my stick just got here today. However, it does not work. I turn it on (wireless) and hold down the Home key attempting to get the PS3 to recognize the Q3 as controller 1 - it just blinks for a while until the 4 flashing LED just stop and go out. I also tried to plug it in to my PC and it does not auto-detect. This does not seem normal . . . am I doing something wrong? The manual had nothing about how it detects so I was curious if you could reply.

Thank you much,
xenosaq

I was rather confused myself at first. It’s all really simple and this is how I do it normally:
-Turn on the PS3 using any method you usually do(with the PS3 pad or on off button on the console).
-Doesn’t matter if you have your receiver plugged in before or after turning on your PS3.
-The receiver will blink until it detects that your Q3 is on.
-Once the stick is on and the receiver light is solid and not flashing, just press the PS button on the Q3.

That’s about it, unfortunately I can’t answer the PC compatibility with GGPO since I don’t play games on my Macbook.

Wait, what do you mean by receiver? Are you referring to the 4 flashing LED lights? My ps3 is not connected through a receiver if that is what you mean . . . it’s just connected through HDMI to my monitor. Steps I followed:

  1. Turn on PS3 using the on button on the console.
  2. Turn on Q3.
  3. 4 red LED flash continuously until they eventually stop and no light is on at all.
  4. I hit the Home button (right side, middle button)
  5. See step 3

Repeat…

I feel so dumb not getting this working, sigh!

By reciever he means the little wireless dongle you plug into your PS3’s USB port. From what you’ve said in both your posts sounds like you’re not actually plugging said dongle it into your console, so the Q3 and PS3 are unable to communicate.

Oh wow, don’t I look cool. Well, I called both Gamestops and neither had any idea what a wireless USB dongle is for the PS3…would anyone happen to have a link to a quality dongle I could just buy online? Thanks a ton Krandor!

It should come with your stick.
It’s proprietary. You have to use the one that should come with your stick.

Well, thanks Smoke. I searched all over the box for it before even making a post and could not find it. I raged and started just looking through the packaging and there it was. Little black USB stick hidden in the BLACK styrofoam . . . ugh, today is just full of fail for me. Thanks for all of the guidance guys.

Rule number 1, make sure everything is there
Manual should tel you what you should get altogether. To to know that you found the USB Dongle/Receiver.

A wire was loose after I swapped my buttons out and it caused the stick to not register any inputs at random times, emailed Sheng Mai about this problem and promptly replied with tech advising me that the problem should have been a loose wire. I opened mine up and made sure all connections were secure and coincidentally enough, problem solved.
My Q3 works great and now I can pass up my SE stick now.

I don’t suppose you could try plugging it in without the dongle, and seeing if the macbook registers it as a device at all? If it does, then it is sending data via that port!

I haven’t tried it with Windows 7 on my Macbook and I’m still getting familiar with OS X but when I plug in my Q3 via USB, the controller port indicator gives searching blinks while when I unplug it, the indicators flash faster. So from this little experiment, it looks like the Q3 is searching for the OS’ drivers. It’s quite late but I’ll post an update when I try it with Windows 7, maybe I’ll get a little USB device plugged in notification.

thanks man, if it does work, could you go to the control panel and click on game pads and just click buttons / move on the joystick, you can see if it registers inputs on there!

If it works like that then I’m definately ordering a q3, otherwise the q2!

Broken USB Dongle

Is it possible to replace the USB Dongle for the Q3? Because I broke mine by accident and don’t want to buy a WHOLE new Q3.

I’m sorry to hear that. I’ll ask our Tech-Team about this and get back to you asap.
