European Law Grants Partial Refund Due to PS3 OtherOS Removal
According to PlayStationUniversity.com (linked above), a European law grants a partial refund to PS3 consumers due to the recent removal of the OtherOS feature in the PS3 Firmware v3.21 update.
A PS3 owner (60GB) version has managed to gain a partial refund from Amazon (without returning the system) due to the removal of the OtherOS feature.
The EU citizen cited a European law which states a product must be fit for its purpose which was made known to the seller at the time of purchase, and as a result he managed to receive around 80GBP back!

Xenogears needs to get re-done with PS3 graphics. I would cop that in a second.
Fuck…my fat isn’t recognizing discs anymore. I was playing GTA 4 then all of a sudden the damn thing froze, and viola, it’s not reading any disc. I had to do a hard shut down, via turning off the power…cause the game wouldn’t turn off under it’s own power…now it’s not reading anything…fuck.
This would be the THIRD time something fucked up has happened to my playstation…
PS3 number 1: The graphics driver went out on it, cause my games to look like wire frame and texture map models
PS3 number 2: After getting the new one, my dad trips on the power cord and fucks up my OG hard drive…
PS3 number 3 2.0: Brought a 160 gig hard drive, replaced the crappy burnt out 80 gig…and now it’s not reading discs…
It’d never happen, even though SE has the rights to Xenogears and the original creator who jumped ship to Namco for Xenosaga now works for SE again after getting fired by Namco for making Xenosaga (LOL), they don’t have the balls to do it. They’d likely never get away with some of the stuff they did in Xenogears nowadays, unless it got severely bastardized (like Xenosaga Ep. 3 was).
If it did happen though, complete with the fully fleshed out second disc that their budget wouldn’t allow for, I would fucking cheer.
After quick assessments the lens seems to have fried itself…cause the damn thing knows theres a disc in, hence the blue light, but now it won’t play shit…so…is it time for me to jump ship and get a slim? Or should I just send it in to Sony? Who probably WON’T place my old hard drive in the new machine…
People need to get over Xenogears. It wasn’t that good.
Try making a new profile. Sign in on that new profile, and eject the disc. Then safely turn it off and on and maybe that will work…
No…I just re-checked after cleaning it. It’s the PS3 Blu Ray drive motor itself. The discs aren’t even spinning, but the system is trying to read it. There nothing I can do about it besides send it back to sony…I’m gonna have to find some way to transfer all my shit over to my laptop. So it’s either go slim or go shell out another 150 to sony…fuck…
Even though I love Yakuza I actually wouldn’t play Kenzan. Maybe just rent it for the story, but the gameplay mechanics are out of date. I feel they harm the gameplay, I blame Sega lol. But Kenzan has an awesome OST, ancient Japanese techno ftw. I do think we will get Yakuza 4, but I hope sooner then we did get 3.
