The Official PS3 thread

You would have to use either the Data Transfer Utility (connect 2 PS3s through an ethernet cable), or Backup/Restore Utility (back up your data on a USB device, then restore it to a new system [your copy-protected material will NOT transfer to a NEW system]).

if you want another opinion on prince of persia, the game was hella dope and it is definitely worth 20$ new. the level design in that game is so crazy it is actually hard to grasp your head around, and it probably has one of the coolest level designs (the alchemists) level that i have seen in a while for a platformer.

also, when did best buy start selling used games? i have not seen that yet.

im outi

I can’t do that because the old hard drive won’t read on another PS3 system to allow me to even use the Data Transfer option, which is why I was asking for another way.

Do you still have your OLD system?

Your HDD is tied to the system that formatted it.

If it can at least boot, use your old HDD on your old system. Otherwise, you’re out of luck unless you have a backup of your old HDD somewhere.

I’m not sure when they started selling used games, but they throw them into that bargin bin that’s similar to the ones at Wal-Mart. A newly released game used at Gamestop would be 54.99, a 5$ difference from a new copy. Newly released used games at Best Buy are 39.99. That and, they sometimes have nice deals like the buy 2 games get 1 free they had going on a while back.

I have 4 Platinum trophies in limbo. BioShock 1 where all I need to do is find all the audio diaries, Bayonetta where all I need to do is find all those ravens/Alfheim’s, Burnout Paradise where I need a fucking peripheral for one bronze trophy to plat that game and the 10,000 kills in Resistance 2. I’m too damn lazy to find all the hidden items in BioShock and Bayonetta, so I’ve been playing Resistance 2 racking up kills in between random games that I rent. Hopefully Blockbuster will have GoW III today, or Heavy Rain/FFXIII. They’re always rented out.

I still have it, but I can’t even get the power to come on. Argh. Thanks anyway.

Couldn’t you have just sent Sony your old system instead of getting a Slim?

Even if you don’t intend to keep your old system, you could have Sony fix it, transfer your stuff over to the Slim, then sell off your old PS3.

Been playing alot of Blazblue and Tekken recently. With SS4 coming out I’m really on a fighter binge. I still have to beat ff13 tho

On the topic of removing accounts, etc…

I have my PSN shared on other PS3s. However, I would just like to reset all of them and just have it on my PS3 only. Is there anyway I can do that from the PS3 or online? I remember reading about it in the other thread but was wondering if anyone else knew? Or am I forced to call Sony?

I could have, but I already did the heat gun fix for the fat PS3 several times(it’s actually been screwing up since November), plus I kept hearing about people who sent in for the fix but their systems still crap out sometime later. It’s alot to risk for 150 bucks…plus I’m cheap lol. I think I know what’s wrong with it but I can’t find a flux pen anywhere to try it out.

If I could still send in a PS3 to Sony that has been tampered with I may consider it, but I prefer just having a new slim honestly. I won’t have to go through this again and it runs super quiet.

afaik, the other users have to manually deactivate your account.

Same problem with me, so I’m just going to open my ps3 up and reflow/reapply thermal paste to my gpu/cpu; at least that’s what the problem sounds like for my ps3. I can’t have Sony fix my system or else I lose all my gameshares because they send a refurb console back rather than my own.

You do know Sony gives an extended warranty on any repairs they do, right?

They send back YOUR console most of the time, cause if they didn’t, they wouldn’t tell you to back up your data before sending it in.

Oh shi foreal? Been hearing mixed answers on that one.

Either I do it myself, or have someone do it for $100, free if it isn’t fixed. Better than paying twice that to Sony =\

From what I read from other forums, it is possible to have Sony Customer Service reset your activations if you have a good excuse. It also depends largely on who you’re talking to, if you get someone stingy try back in a hour or day. Have a good / believable excuse for why you used all 5 activations though, that’s the most important part.

I’m the one who said that, but nothing has come of it yet. I hope they don’t end up doing it. Like, that’s one thing that will make me say “Fuck the PS3.” Removing other OS is lame, but at least it’s not a necessary feature.

I’ve gotta say, Fallout 3 is one of the most boring games I’ve ever played. Thank god I only got this for $20.

R&C Crack in Time was better than I was expecting. Except on bosses, Chimpositron + Mr Zurkon combo > RYNO V

Does all of Heavy Rain run on some kind of in-game clock? Pretty interesting if it does. I left my guy standing in the kitchen while I ate/browsed the web and before I knew it, game went to a cutscene where his family came home.

Slowly working my way through FFXIII…the plot just keeps getting worse and worse, but the battle system is still tops.

About to get a platinum in Heavy Rain. That the least I can do for such a wonderful game. Thank You for bringing me so much joy and happiness. A must buy if you have not yet.
