Explain in detail please.
One of the best things about the ps3 is it’s functionality as a media player. It IS a bluray player, but I don’t even buy blurays anymore. I just have an external hdd and I d/l blurays and play it off that. Sooooooooo dope.
I think he means keep it well ventilated.
And not wrapped up in towels stuffed into the corner of a small entertainment center near the heater.
Me too. It’s one of the main reasons I bought a ps3 actually.
all you guys talking 360 vs ps3 gonna get this thread closed and sep demoted/banned even further.
Why would you even ask this question in a console specific thread? Obviously people who post in that thread are going to be inclined to say that console. Nobody in the PS3 thread is gonna be like “get a 360”. On top of that you fed the trolls, good job.
I feel like talking about Playstation 3 stuff.
I’ve been meaning to get Heavy Rain but I keep putting it off! Its so hard not to look at any coverage/reviews and anything that could possibly have spoilers. Soooo tempting, yet I just can’t do it. One a these days…
At least our trolls stick to trolling in our thread.
bad information, please disregard
[details=Spoiler]Luc: If you’re interested in a small taste of what Heavy Rain has to offer, they are about to put out one of the “Heavy Rain Chronicles”, called “The Taxidermist”.
I haven’t played it yet (I got it early via pre-order), but what I’ve picked up so far is that it takes place before the main game, and gives a very good taste of the best of what Heavy Rain has to offer. I’ve read a few reviews of it that said if this DLC was what they gave out as a demo, it would have probably helped to sell even more copies, because it includes all of the best aspects of the game.
Anyway, it’s going to be released April 1 (that date makes me question everything :P), for $4.99 on PSN.
Maybe it can help you decide on whether you want the full game or not.[/details]
Dayday below has advised that The Taxidermist chronicle is not playable outside of the main game - I’ve left the text up there, but stuck it in a spoiler tag. Please disregard. My apologies for the bad information.
^^
Rampage,
I don’t think you can play “The Taxidermist” without having the full game. You load it from the game’s menu, it doesn’t boot on it’s own. I don’t know if it really would have sold more copies, it could have sold some to some people that wanted an ultra-intense experience. The demo they gave us really sold me on the game, so I bought it without fear. The Taxidermist was cool and everything, but a little hectic at times when you had 4 options to choose quickly and I couldn’t make out what I wanted to do.
I would not want to play 20+ levels Taxidermist style.
Oh, interesting - I wasn’t aware of that. Thanks for correcting me dayday I’ll edit my post accordingly so that the bad information doesn’t get circulated.

Just a FYI this offer no longer works if anyone tries it. I called their customer support and they said they just removed it.
Bullshit. My systems well ventilated, sits out in the open no way it over heated. It stopped working after I turned it off and then tried to turn it back on later. It didn’t over heat. It gave the over heat signal but it didn’t over heat, no way it could have, not while playing a two hour DVD movie sitting out in the open on a coffee table. Vents where clean to. Both of these systems are prone to breaking and everyone knows it. Shit someone just posted about their PS3 giving hem issues after just getting it back from Sony.
Anyway whats the internet thingy that everyone recommends turning off? I’m trying to install the firmware update so I can play Uncharted 2 and it keeps erroring out. It kills the net in the whole house for like two seconds then it comes back on.
Settings > Network Settings > Media Server > Disable.
@GREY FOX: wth am i gonna ask the question? in XBOX thread? i was more interested in PS3 before xbox and ps3 even came out. i ask here cuz chances are im gonna be getting ps3 anyway.
When it comes to a system if you are going to play a lot online buy what your friends have. Online isn’t as enjoyable on your lonesome but it’s great on Xbox Live and PSN with friends.
If you are buying it for any other reason just pick the one you think you will prefer. If you had an idea you were going to be getting a PS3 you shouldn’t have started asking people IN THE PS3 THREAD if you should get an Xbox instead. If you prefer the look of a PS3, get a PS3. Closed, done, finished. Let’s knock this shit off before Ronin comes in and closes the console specific threads down for good.
I’ll give that a shot.
Like I said look over the game catalogu and see which one interests you more. They both have a lot to offer it really just depends on your tastes.
That’s why everyone has gave pretty logical answers. Because it’s always troll o’clock here, right? The only thing even moderately close to trolling is P.Gorath mentioning RRoD which is something you should absolutely consider when buying a 360. I know I did.
And not to be an ass, but why do you even post in this thread when you don’t even own the system?
Well, Yakuza 3 came out, Heavy Rain, God of War III, Last Rebellion () 3D Dot Game Heroes, Mod Nation Racers, uhhh…I forget what else off the top of my head.
Gran Turismo 5 will hopefully be out this year. I’ve lost all hype for that though from the delays, it’s all about that 3D Dot Game Heroes!
I’ve never been a racing game fan unless it’s a Kart/Slapstick like game which is why I’m so excited for Mod Nation Racers. But yeah, I’m really excited for 3D Dot Game Heroes. It’s one of the reasons I bought a PS3. I’m actually bringing my system with me to Seattle in May so I can play it while I’m visiting my sister.
It looks like it’ll be over the top fun. Graphics wise it looks totally unique, gameplay wise it seems to have taken the old simple RPG elements and refreshed them. In fact that’s what I would say it looks like, refreshing. It’s the first PS3 title that I actually cannot wait to get my hands on.
