The Official PS3 thread

um, no.

the price dropped in the beginning of this month. Which explains why GS only gave me $9. But thankx to TRU back in 10/25/10, I got it for $10.43 (25% off with an extra 40% off; even got Heavy Rain for $41.23). So… yea…

It is sad there hasn’t been a clear “great” JRPG for the next-gen consoles era.

Valkyria Chronicles was a good SRPG, but not great. I would imagine if VC2 was developed for PS3, things could be different.

Hilariously enough, the x360 has the most jprgs, none of which are enough to buy the console alone for. The only game that would be considered the best RPG of this gen in my eyes would be Demon’s Souls, granted if you would call it a traditional RPG.

As for Bioware/Bethesda RPGs. I can’t comment on ME2, but ME1 was a shooter first, RPG second. Dragon Age refined the FF12 gambit system, but what the game lacked, it gained with paid DLC. Despite giving me a full game, I never could be strong because of the lack of the SUPER AWESOME WEAPONS I had to purchase. DA:O was good, but not great.

Fallout 3/NV suffers from too many bugs, that leaves me to wonder why buy this game at launch? F3 was enjoyable enough to invest 40 hours into it, but that fallout feel wasn’t there for me. NV is an example of why I still buy used games, don’t give me a half assed bug ridden game. I don’t want to spend 60 bucks only to have the game freeze because of the game itself.

FF14 and APB were huge letdowns in the MMORPG department, but who can compete with WoW anyways?

FF:V13 is what everyone is banking on, but rumors point to it being a KH style action rpg.

Am I the only one who wishes to use everyone in my party? Why restrict me to 3 people? FFX at least let me switch in battle.

That was a pretty big update in the U.S. PSN store.

Sucks because my DSL modem died and I have no internet at home until the new one I ordered comes next week. Going to have to drag it to my cousins house to buy shit and DL updates. LOL

I have Bayonetta & Ghostbusters sealed which are supposed to be trash without the patches, so I’m screwed.

Wow yeah, pretty huge update. Finally MTG: Duels is out on PS3. Looking forward to playing that against my nephew.

So, I downloaded the trailer trying to understand what Beat Sketcher is, but… I still have no idea whatsoever. Can anyone better explain it to me?
I’ve looked up on the internet and found that it’s more of a paint application where you can paint to the music, or as you paint, the music is modified?? Is it an actual game at all (with direction), or just some sort of a freestyle thing? Most places don’t really seem to be able to clarify.

If anyone’s bought and played it and can explain it a little better, it would be greatly appreciated.

Where the U2 peeps at? Haven’t seen you guys in a while. We need to play!

I finished up Star Wars: TFU II last night, the combat is actually pretty fun though the game is extremely short. I had it crash 3 times too, the sound would cutoff then the game would lock up 2-3 seconds later. Anyone else have this happen?

I just rented Splatterhouse, this should be a fun night.

I read it was something like creating your own music rhythm game.

TFU II sound went in and out on me on whole stage, but when I passed it, the next level started normally. I’m on the second to last stage right now, it was 2 stages before I think.

Aaaaand for those of us who put it off, Walmart will be selling Infamous and Bioshock 2 for 10 bucks for Black Friday.

bro we’ve been playing! we haven’t seen YOU lol

Monster, Doujin, and myself played some games yesterday. :wonder:

I had to take a a quick break from BO.

Anyone get Gran Turismo in here? I’m tempted.

That Pac Man game is CRACK!

Fuck yeah it is. I just got it. My first game in I got so freaking into it. This game is so intense.

GT5 tomorrow!

Just about to say the same thing! Finally, Pac-Man for this current gen no longer means playing ports with crappy cell phone controls for me! Love the Pac-Mania style graphics you can use. 38% of trophies so far! LOL how they gonna give you a 30 Ghost combo trophy! :lovin:

Music is cool but I wish we had the option to swap it out with our own music like you can for MVC2. Would like to make my own 80s / 90s music soundtrack for that old school arcade experience while playing.

DMC 4 Nero avatar is about a week late but I’m glad it’s here. Where’s Dante already? Hopefully soon.

I wonder why more companies are not jumping on the avatar bandwagon? I have a ton of Capcom ones now. Konami, Bamco, Sega and Squeenix I’m looking at you! Take my pocket change please!

I’ve been seeing “SWBeta is now online”, while I’m rocking Bayonetta.

Anyone here cop Malicious (the game comprised entirely of boss battles) from the JPN store? I’m wary of watching any gameplay vids because half the fun will be figuring out how to fight each boss on your own. What little English feedback I’ve found seems to generally praise the graphics & difficulty. Biggest con seems to be that it’s short (6 bosses).

It’s pretty cheap though, roughly $10. If it doesn’t get localized in due time I’ll shell out for a PSN ticket.

I almost bought Credo last night. ALMOST! I’m waiting for Vergil or Dante, though. The reason they didn’t release Dante yet is because they know if they release Dante first, everyone will buy him and not care about everyone else which is probably why Kyrie was up the first.

Next week it’ll be that crazy scientist guy (forgot his name) and the savior pope guy Sanctus.

I just finished Splatterhouse, it’s pretty good. The game is less cheesy than I thought it would be judging from the trailer, though it’s still really cheesy at some points. The game feels like an oldschool 2D beat 'em up in 3D, any sub-weapon from limbs, machete’s to shotgun’s all do more damage than any combo you have. Sub-weapons and Berserker Mode(mask takes over, increased damage, different moveset, invulnerability) are the way to handle things. Their’s very little platforming, the meat of the game is killing hordes of enemies all while trying not to get killed by the environment or overrun by all the enemies.

The game’s really short, though their’s a Survival/Challenge mode, an extra difficulty unlocked when you beat the game and the original 3 Splatterhouse games, which I need to check out at some point, if they’re the arcade versions.

I really liked this game and while I’d usually be in a rush to return the game and rent out something else, I’m gonna keep it for another day or two to rack up some trophies and try out Survival mode.

I’m definitely picking up Pac-Man CE DX! :woot:

I wished that MJ: EXP game came as a move bundle. I rather pay $100 for that instead of some random game I wont even want to play.

Billy Jean > That shit.

I’m trading in my extra DR2 again for GT5. I hope they take it again, lol.
