The Official Post your Arcade Cabinet Thread!

So i got Marvel vs Capcom today & im getting different colors everytime i power it on. Im guessing the board is dead? Seems like my battery is still outputting 3.6V though…Any ideas?

what do you have planned there, buddy?

Hey rcaido, have you tried to change mother boards on your MvC? I had problems just like you and it was my A board. It was giving me all different kinds of colors. I would hook up just the A board only to the JAMMA and I would get orange, red, etc.

Yeah i tried like 6 different A boards, sometimes i get black screen, sometimes red, sometime purple, sometimes green.ff

I think the A boards your using are what are giving you the different colors and yes, it sounds like something is causing your B board not to boot up. Since you said the battery is working fine and is giving enough charge one thing you can do is look at your MvC pcb and see if there are any broken traces. I use a magnifying glass to do that. If there is try to see where they go to. Some traces are very important and will cause your board not to boot up. I would do that before doing anything like getting it phoenixed or converted because neither will work if you have broken or burnt traces. Have you tried this already though?

Maybe hit the connectors with some air duster.

Could be a bad lead / trace rcaido. I’d check the battery’s traces to see if your voltage are actually going anywhere. When boards die, they do what you’re saying is happening. At least you can phoenix it!

Evawingzero is 100% correct if that is the case. Just remember to see where the trace goes. I just picked up a dead X-men v SF board and had similar problems, as soon as I opened it up I checked for any broken traces and found two next to the 07 ROM that were connected to the custom 68000 processor chip. That’s game over and no boot unless you are going to retrace them but in that case you have to think to yourself “What caused this to happen in the first place and will it happen again after I put this much work into this board ?” Just check for any broken traces first and foremost and if all else fails you can use Raz’s 03 tester ROM and see what that gives you.

It’s a Mame/Gaming PC cab now, and I just needed easily accessible USB ports.

Worst case scenario you can always look into Neutrix or Switchcraft USB panel mounts.

I cleaned the board & check the traces cant find anything…I guess it suicide…So what’s the process of having it phoneix, can i just order new EPROMs or do i actually have to send the whole board?

You will need to remove the battery and take out ROMs 03 through 10 and send them to Raz. To get in touch with him go to cps2shock.com and shoot him an e-mail. He’ll give you all the details you will need. Once you get them back just put them into the number socket that you took them out of and your board should start right back up with MvC. I love that game!

Meh…no.

The Silverstone SST-FP32 USB/1394/Audio panel is serving its purpose more elegantly and cheaper than any Neutrix or Switchcraft solution.

Forget my last statement, your solution is much better.
I almost forgot you got a actual PC inside your cab.

I saw this thing for sale and brought it home without much thought

Getting into the insides, I can pretty easily tell this was a conversion unit. The control panel has had holes drilled through holes to make enough room for buttons and the art on the sides is Taito. Part of me said, cool, I can mod it for whatever I want. Then I talked to a buddy of mine who has dealt arcade equipment before and he seems to think it’s an old Double Dragon cab and it might be worth it to restore it. All the pics I’ve seen of DD have black where the pink is on mine though, and I know Taito had a habit of color coding their cabs, so who knows.

Im not really fan of conversion cab, how much did you get it for?

Some random guy on the weekend rang my door bell & was like hey are you the dude with all the arcades in your garage. I was like uhh yeah i guess so, well i have a Bad Dude arcade cab im trying to get rid of. You want to buy?

If only i had the space i would have bought it, its one of my childhood games & looks in pretty good shape & its all original. He wanted to sell it for $50. He lives 2 blocks away haha…I hate it when i run out of space, it seems like i have to travel to another state to pick up a game i really like…Yet this falls right into my lap, cheapest price you can get on an arcade cab, & now no room.

@rcaido‌
Holy crap, $50? I’ll take 2 please!
All kidding aside, I’d have taken it anyways even if I didn’t have the space; at that price, you stash it somewhere (even if inconvenient) while you make space elsewhere…

Well holy shit, there it is.

I dropped $300 on it. The dude wouldn’t budge and I really wanted the damn thing in my house. I’m gonna get a 4 player Simpsons cab from them with a non-functional monitor in a couple weeks for $200. My buddy is pretty positive he can get it fixed, then hey, 4 player cab.

haha i have already maximize all my arcade space a.k.a. How much the wife will allow. Its pretty sad, i went to pick up a Nintendo Red tent once & this guy lived in somekind of manufacture home in a trailer park. I walked in & guy had arcades/pinballs everywhere. He had at least 50 cabs & 7 pins spread out from his bedroom, living room, & kitchen…I asked him, wow how are you able to get away with this from the wife & he’s like well she divorce me because of this…

Ok guys I got a quick question for y’all I want to get a premade cabinet. I was looking at:

I only want it for my pc and consoles.

Later on when I find a bigger place I would like to get a few authentic cabinets. Apparently these same people are one of the few that are sponsoring CEO. I read the review on the CEO site and they said it was pretty legit. What do y’all think?
