The Official Post your Arcade Cabinet Thread!

add in a scanline generator and it will be perfect.

has anyone tried the hanzo dreamcast via box with scan line generator? i hear good things about it.
http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?42388-Dreamcast-VGA-box-amp-Scanline-generator

I have tried it on a Naomi2 motherboard and the quality is outstanding…background remains hirez and the sprite becomes sharper as a result as well instead of being chunky linedoubled.

Why would you still need scan lines if you’re using an arcade monitor?

To counter against capcoms lazy sprite ports when they made games on the naomi/dreamcast such as capcom vs snk 2 and marvel vs capcom 2. Dont get me wrong, the background is phenomenal…but the sprites, gawd the sprites…especially in 31KHz, their low res nature sticks out like a sore thumb.

The monitor on this cab is 15k, no VGA. That’s why I put the ol Dreamcast on this cab with the Sync Circuit.

Did you do a monitor/chassis transplant?

A little update on my side:

Got those back today! BIOS’ work! PIC and netDIMM are… not sure. See below.

My current Supergun’s power supply is probably not equipped to handle the power draw from the netDIMM (as I read, the netDIMM and GD-ROM both draw lots of current). Gotta jimmy-rig a PC power supply into this.

Thanks to a VERY helpful good Samaritan, I’ve got what I need. You know who you are. Major props to you.

If you are using a PC power supply for a ā€œSuper Gun Setupā€ consider this

its a break out board for a AXT power connector

Along with a AXT power supply connector

You have easy and labeled access to all your PSU voltages and signals.

Thanks for the info on that.

Though in my case, the jimmy-rigging of a PC power supply would only be for testing my setup.
I’m going to be building myself another Supergun sometime soon, so I’ll make sure that that one is fully capable of handling this.

Though I might look into getting one of those anyways; it’s always useful for testing purposes.

I got this blast empty. I had a 29" 15k monitor ready to go. I’m stoked with how everything looks man. Looks awesome! Eventually, I could always swap my 31k monitor in there.

Keep it 15Khz for the old school jamma boards I think. The 31Khz scanline option would only apply to handful 2D sprites on 3D background games anyway. So the monitor fitted in well with the bezel?

My Kraylix Slim is finally complete, all i need now is to find a good barstool of some sort.

My goal is to buy another one for a head to head set up. All i need now is
to convince the wife

First cab, Egret 2.

Will always have a soft spot for this machine. When this pic was taken, I had recently sold my New Astro, so I made a cozy corner for the lonely E2. My pcbs to the right, and a workbench/test station with PVM monitor and supergun to the left made this area a perfect nook.

Of course, time passes, and things change. Sometimes you have to rent a truck and fill it with cabs.

And put them in your living room.

I want a egret II so bad. It’s too expensive and hard to find right now. Very nice collection.

I started out wanting an Egret II as well, especially due to the easy-rotate mechanism.
But then I saw the going prices for them, and the fact that I’m now decently invested in Sega Astro CPs… :frowning:

Get two (New) Astro Citys instead. Much easier to find spares for SEGA cabs. I’ll never sell my EGRET IIs, but next time I’m gonna get a SEGA cab for sure (either NNC, Astro City or a NAOMI Universal (to chop).

I love my Egret2, i was lucky enough to pick one up one state away. Yeah the prices on them are pretty ridiculous, you can probably get 2 Astro City populated w/ new buttons/stick for the price of one Egret 2. This summer i might do some chopping on my Naomi Uni’s.

I actually have my heart set on a Blast City, and I originally thought I’d be able to get one later this year, but it’s not looking good on that front. Finances might be tighter due to the ever-changing life priorities.

That being said, if I found myself a an Astro here locally, I probably wouldn’t say no.

Not really me posting my cab, as much as me showing off what I’ve been building/modding for it…

Geez, this last photo looks shit…
