Man that’s a good deal. This is very tempting, i only live an hour away from Bremerton…But i told myself that i will never, ever, evereverever, pickup a woody cab again unless its delivered…Way too many horror stories i went through…Plus that 1st pic is freaking me the fuck out…You should pick this up, lots of good game come in this package & on the cheap…
Im also right in the middle of ordering a Blast City from Ken at the gameroom. So people with
Blast City can you guys give me some tips on what to ask for? What’s the best monitor to pick up?
Oh great, now I can’t unsee the little man on top of the cabinet. I don’t know if I could go and pick those up now. Even if it is a really great deal.
So what happened with wooden cabinets when you went to pick them up? It sounds like it might be a good warning for anyone like me who doesn’t know what to expect when going to pick one up.
Always expect the worse, wooden cabinets are heavy! When i picked up a Neo-geo cab up in Seattle…I asked the seller if it would be easy & would i have any problem if i just brought my wife & we can just pick it up from there…Yeah no sweat, luckily i ended up asking my brother & a friend who had a pick up truck come get it…The cab was in an apartment in the 3rd floor w/ no elevators…
Guantlet Dark Legacy holy shit this one was my last woody cab…I ask the measurements for the cab, turned out the guy can’t measure for shit…It ended up being too long so i couldn’t close the door all the way…I ended up using rope to hold it but the whole time i thought the rope will snap in the middle of the freeway…
Candy Cabs are amazing i tell you, easiest transportation ever!
Wow, sounds like the wood ones are a lot of trouble. Especially since you’ll find out most of that stuff when you get there. o_O
Well, what I had in mind was building/converting/buying a four player cabinet to play with my three brothers.
So I could either just have everyone take turns and get an actual arcade cabinet (like a candy) or convert/make/buy a cabinet that has mame and a four player control panel.
Price of course will have a big influence too on what I go with.
Got some more work done on the Astro today. Just waiting for the Cap Kit to come in so I can try to fix tihs monitor up. We have an event tomorrow, so I’ll be Magic Erasing it before that. Sadly, this will be sitting with an “Under Construction” sign on it
My two cheap Laptop stands came in from Wal-Mart. They are better than I had hoped. Turning these guys into two little arcade setups will be fairly easy. As long as I don’t rush with them, they will be pretty awesome. I have some cool ideas in store for these. I’ll be starting a thread to document the journey along the way soon.
They are pretty awesome. The cheap wheels that came with it screw into the bottom. You could easily buy some adjustable leveling legs that could screw in if you’d rather have them. These are going to be fun little cabs. If I had more room, I’d buy like 10 of them and have a full row of them.
Well, right now my budget is pretty low. I would say maybe $500 max? Later on I could see it being $1-2 grand. But that’s only when I get a new job.
I like fighting games (of course,) but my brothers like anything old. So anything from Sega Genesis to Super Nintendo to most old arcade games. That’s why I was thinking of using Mame.
I was hoping to find an old broken cabinet and pay $80-100 for it and replace everything. But I’m not sure if it’s worth it, especially if I find out the wood is bad or something.
Really, I need a truck, a place to put the cab, and possibly a bigger budget before I start this project, but I want to plan things out before it all starts happening.
So that’s a good deal for a working MVC2? (If the monitor has no burn in and is working.)
Yeah, it really scared me too. I didn’t notice it until rcaido pointed it out though.
Yeah $500 budget would be hard for 4player mame cab…To get that you will probably just build one from scratch…Or just post on craigslist that you want a gutted 4player setup…
What you can do is offer $200 for the MvC 2 cab, ill give you $125 for the naomi & game setup & you can keep the cab & monitor for $75…That leaves you with $425 to play with…
I might need to delay it then until I can throw more into the budget for this thing.
That sounds like a good plan. I’ll even throw in the Scary Little Man for free.
But anyways, I don’t have a truck or anyone to help me move this. So if anything, I would probably have to get a proxy buyer or pass up this great deal.
It will be hard enough to find a spot to put this thing, nevermind getting a truck and drive out there.
Where in WA you from? Best thing to do when picking up multiple cabs is renting a moving truck, Budget has the best prices i think for me…I remember going all the way to Port Orchrid to pick up my Daytona Twins…Man that was freaken hard…Hardest move out of all my cabs but still my fav…
I’m around Renton, so it’s not too far for me either. (Only about an hour away.) However, I have no driver’s license at the moment so that means no truck. So my only options are to get a proxy buyer, or even better, get a friend to rent a truck for me.
I probably shouldn’t look this early for an arcade cab, but working on an arcade stick has made me want to look into making or buying one.
For now though, maybe I should buy a kit and make something like this?

He was able to fit a jamma in there. Also, it would be nice for each player to have their own screen.
Especially since you could have two cabs in two different rooms. And they wouldn’t take up much space either.
I’ll be moving to San Diego probably next year, but until then I just don’t have the room for a full cab.
For those who aren’t familiar with Egret 2 or people who has Egret 2, here is a video of me rotating the monitor. I think im doing it wrong cuz i heard something about a crank you have to use. I couldn’t find the crank so i just tried to do it my way…Let me know how dangerous or how close i could have been killed…Either way, its so much easier to tate compared to a Naomi Universal & Astro City…
I wonder why you put the gloves on when the cab was off then put the winged nuts on with the cab switched on? If one of those nuts were to fall into your cabinet they could have shorted something and fried your electronics. :0 I always “pop the hood” then close the control panel so I can get closer to the screen.
I have 2 EGRET II cabinets. The screen can only be rotated one way. I have never heard about this “crank”. Sure it’s not just a prank? If you have a game that’s upside down and doesn’t have a screen flip DIP you have to flip it manually by shifting the YOKE wires on the chassis. But there’s a more elegant solution out there: http://www.emphatic.se/?p=1025
