The Official Post your Arcade Cabinet Thread!

i might get a blast city but i heard the monitors are kind of a pain to deal with. would it be possible to put a sega 001 loom in a (new) net city?

you are right i love having the mame on demo with children of the atom playing though, i realized i have yet to play 4 % of any of the games haha…i did find some interesting plinko/gambling style games where the anime strips the other day also !

COTA was actually the 2nd cps2 board I bought, paid $30 US for a & b boards lol. And yeah if you mean attract screen I agree it’s great. Underrated game imo.

In the shop. Work begins on it next weekend!

i wish old cabinets were these easy to get here :frowning:

what type of cabinets are in arcades where you live?

we have astro city, viewlix and the other stuff you have at our mall, we even have a ton of people who have cheap custom cabs (with nes, pentium based-cpus, and ps2/xbox). but i can’t seem to find someone selling the mall cabs. even old ones and i’ll just restore it.

I thought it had an Asus monitor in there?

Just a quick review on a piece of hardware:

The PS1/2 Expansion board for the Viletim Scart to JAMMA adapter (with the kick harness)

This is an expansion board to be attached to the Scart to Jamma adapter and it will generate signals that you will otherwise produced by a playstation dualshock1 or dualshock2 pad.
The outputs to the console of choice shall be provided by standard playstation console ports so an additional adapter will be needed to interface to say an xbox1, xbox360, PS3, Wii, Dreamcast etc.
The compatibility is spot on for the xbox1, xbox360 and PS3 adapters that I have on hand, which works the same way as my dualshock1 pcb based arcade sticks.

The expansion board will take care of the directional buttons, start, Fire1, 2 and 3 on the control panel of any standard JAMMA cabinet, if you need Fire 4, 5 and 6 (such as for fighting games etc) you can hook up either a mortal kombat, CPS1 or CPS2 Kick harness or wire the buttons directly to the additional kick expansion’s terminal blocks.

Installation: You will need to remove the control expansion board from the scart to jamma adapter, by removing the ribbon cable and the three nuts and screws, and then do the reverse for the ps1/2 expansion board for installation.

Initialisation: You will need to connect the expansion board to a console and turn it on, it doesn’t matter if its directly to a playstation console or through adapters, but best to connect both player 1 and 2 controllers to the console as the initialisation process will do both players at a time and to maintain power to the expansion board as it draws power from the controller ports of the console.

The mapping process is quick as the expansion board will register the immediate button for the function as soon as you press it and leaving no down time before the next button is pressed. You can store multiple profiles as shown and to get to the next profile, just click once on SW1 and it will show the next profile, which you can program or set the controller profile to.

Overall impression:
The kit is intended for those who dislike pad hacking and Tim has made sure it will cater to those who wish to have further customisation to their control layouts and rapid fire options. Further improvements will be introduced before the release including a diagnostic mode, which will point out any shorts or cross input errors on the cabinet side of things as well as better power management as the current build has niggly power issues causing the expansion board to malfunction. Other than that, it fulfils the promise of two functional dualshock pcbs. It has a tentative price of AU$40-45 for the main interface board and AU$10-12 for the kick harness adapter, email Tim at orders@etim.net.au if interested.

why are jamma boards so expensive?

Wow he finally got it done…Cant wait to get one…

Its an expensive hobby, but most games aren’t too bad…You can get them for less then $100…My problem is actually storing them, they are so bulky w/ different sizes, not like dvd cases where you can stack them somewhere…

Hello, new to the forums and just wanted to say that you all have really excellent cabinets. Some of the woodwork I have seen on the custom cabinets is very nice.
I built a MAME cabinet this year, my first one (obviously from the photo). I just dropped in 2 TvC SE sticks in using a Wii to USB converter to get them to work with my PC. After learning more about the stick modding and building project I would love to do things that I have seen from some of SRK’s members cabinets rather than my sketchy drop ins.

At any rate, here is my first attempt at a MAME cabinet that has SSF4AE and SFxT on it.

No sir. That was someone elses on here I believe.

Corners of my room now. I play the NeoGeo more than the SF machine but they both still get love.

Right next to the HF machine is my TV and game consoles and beside that (side of the NeoGeo) is my computer so really it’s all just lined up on one wall with my couch, doubling as my bed, is on the other. I think it’s a good entertainment setup.

Update on the Mini.

The weather is amazing right now, going to stay inside & start working on the arcades haha…Need to fix that Point Zero games so i can sell it already…Need space & cash for my h2h cps2 setup…

Was wondering if this would be a good base for a custom Vewlix clone. Of course it will be a lot smaller than a Vewlix. http://i.walmartimages.com/i/p/00/02/43/19/50/0002431950160_500X500.jpg

Don’t see why that wouldn’t work, as long as you can attach the stuff on top with out it breaking/falling over.

You can just enclose that in MDF and it would look pretty slick. You could even possibly ask around and get just the viewlix single player sides made and simply bolt them to the metal frame of the stand.

for those that are wondering, the stand in question is available at walmart for a mere 30USD

I think I might order one of these and make something with it. Could be a neat little cheap cab.

EDIT: Ordered 2 for cheap head to head VS City style setup. RAD
