The Official Post your Arcade Cabinet Thread!

My garage arcade also known as Mother Russia, is fucking cold like Mother Russia…No heater allowed, just sweater, jackets, & scarfs…Summer time is actually comfortable its those damn winters haha…My last gathering i had 17 people come over, its the ideal setup to use besides a basement…

im using instasheller with maximus so it starts up booting the arcade no sign of windows ever! also using ipac on the mapping…its a little confusing at first but there is every how to on youtube! just got n64 and ps1 on here so im happy to play some Parisite Eve!!

man id love to check that out ! sounds like the ice bar in vegas !they give you furs to wear when you walk in and an ice bar!

LOL, Mother Russia; PERFECT!

Oh crap, this is opening up here in NYC in November. Sounds like a plan.

Yes, the weecade is by far the easiest and best simple mame project out there. as for mapping buttons, there is a very interesting project that is small and very cheap that will map out all of the buttons into a programmable USB AVR device. the code available for free will map about 20 default mame keyboard keys or 2 players with 3 action buttons. the AVR cost less than $12 dollars online.

There’s a guy named ‘404’ in that thread there that is selling the AVRs in bulk pre flashed. I have one AVR here and i flashed it with the code. the PC recognizes it as a usb keyboard and all of the default mame keys are mapped out to the pins. this IMO is better than having a usb hid joystick. it makes for a easy no-fuss install with no ghosting of keys etc. you can also program them any way you want. seen some guys make snes, nes, genesis controller to usb adapters with them too.

thanks can you still exit out of maximus arcade then go to windows at any time?

currently thinking of hacking a usb pad then just remapping everything before i install a shell

I love candy cabs, but that Hyper Fighting cab is classic. Sweet.

I don’t own any cabs now. Years ago I had one but had to sell it off. Getting married soon, and don’t have much space, so probably will never have one again.

Oh well, at least I can have a nice plasma TV and good quality arcade stick.

windows sometimes resets the device allocation for HID devices when they are permenantly plugged in. That will force you to remove and reinstall the device from time to time. For the cost of a cheap hid joypad, you can get yourself an AVR to emulate keystrokes.

i’m from the philippine and shipping would be a big problem for me compared to a $2 controller. although i’m checking on the link for the AVR.

Never say never man, my only cab was a Hyper Fighting cab, then one day i was able miraculously get a Daytona USA 2 twin, then BLAM next thing i know i got a bunch of arcades…Arcade stick & plasma dont cut it man…

i’m already thinking of just going with a bartop cab rather than a whole cab. with the same reason as tapper. i already have a 50 inch to play on. though im still on the edge of making one geez…

Mame can be fun but it just doesn’t feel right to me. It just doesn’t feel authentic either by how it looks, sound, or how it feels…Even how it runs but that could just be me. Like most people who have Mame will put 5000+ games & probably wont ever turn it on to play. Turning it on & trying to figure which game to play is chore in itself…I really like the presentation of them though, like say Maximus…Showing all the games available but just does not motivate me to actually play them…Its like hey look at how many games i have in here kind of thing…

Maybe im just an arcade snob

i would like to have my own game room full of arcade cabs as well. but money is still a problem for that dream to come true. already have the plans plotted for a maximus/ps3 cab. and even the budget for it. but what would i do if i still have a console and a large tv at home as well :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s why you buy candy cabs and lots of original game boards to swap in and out. I agree with rcaido, emulation feels wack.

i am trying to figure out what candy cab i want want to play xbox 360, dreamcast , and jamma in the easiest way possible and i don’t know which one to choose
any suggestions?

thanks

Easiest would probably to try to find a candy cab with a tri-sync monitor or one that can display 31k
Naomi Universal 31K
Blast City tri
Net City tri
New Net City tri
Atomiswave SD tri
Egret 3 tri

These are all pretty much plugging a VGA cord to it…Then either have some one make a project box, cthulu, or wire a PS2 pad & use converters…You will probably need speakers for the dreamcast & 360.

don’t all of those cabinets have an rca input i know thew blast city does

It depends on what loom you have…If the Blast City has the Sega 001 Loom then yeah you can just use that for the sound…But they are pretty rare to get & quite expensive running from $50-$100 last time i checked…You may get lucky & get one on your cab, so just ask before you buy.

what about in a new net city how would i get jamma in one of those?

I dont own one but i believe most New Net City are JVS wired, so you would need to get
Namco JVS-JAMMA Converter or Konami JVS-JAMMA Converter

Or if you dont care for your JVS, just replace it w/ a jamma harness…
