Hey guys if I wanted to add an LCD monitor (VGA\DVI) as a second viewing screed to an SSF2T Cabinet what adapter would I need?
My Vewlix project didnāt die, but it did get quite sidetracked. Iāll have to take more pictures when I finish the bezel that fits around the TV, but at least itās operational.
Great gameplay is timeless! I also painted a few bar stools in the same color scheme

Vewlix build around Virtua Stick High Grades

PC on the left, receiver on the right. Room for consoles on top

Not pictured, but the Vewlix build is unique in a few ways. Iāll take more pictures when I have a chance. The TV can also rotate 90 degrees for shoot 'em ups and I have another tray that replaces the current joystick setup for a keyboard, mouse and FPS keyboard.
I should really use more of my vshgā¦glad to see someone made a full use of it instead of just using the top panel.
this makebox look no box like these big box!
Wish I could point you to one, but I canāt seem to find one online, at the moment. Essentially itās a JAMMA pass-through (JAMMA in, JAMMA out), but it also picks off the video signals and provides composite and S-Video out. Iāve seen various iterations of such a board, so I know they are out there, and from multiple manufactures.
If you want VGA/DVI, you would want to use a pure JAMMA pass-through (sometimes called an āextender,ā which has no electronic components, just traces if itās a PCB or wires if itās a harness) + an upscaler to double the size of the image. You will need to hook the RGBS inputs from the scaler to the same video signals on the JAMMA extender.
You can make your own extender with these parts:
http://www.jammaboards.com/store/56-pin-card-edge-connector-396mm-156-pitch-ec-56.html
http://www.jammaboards.com/store/classic-jamma-fingerboard-stick-fb-1.html
Add one of these video upscalers:
http://www.jammaboards.com/store/cga-ega-yuv-to-vga-arcade-hd-converter-pcb-gbs-8220-gbs-8220.html
Solder up the video signals, grab +5V & GND off the extender, and you should be good to go once you fiddle with the menu/jumper settings on the upscaler. Thereās a ton of people using these scalers, so you shouldnāt have any problem finding answers to questions about that aspect. If you build one of these, be sure and make a thread about it so others can know itās not super hard to do! Happy soldering!

I did exactly this with the same upscaler but with no need for a full JAMMA pass through. All I did was splice the video signal wires from the JAMMA harness into one of these, which feeds into the upscaler:

That video harness should come with most JAMMA harnesses, but didnāt come with the one in my Astro City for some reason. I had to harvest it from a spare.
I get video into the cabinet monitor and a spare VGA monitor just fine. Check here for an idea of what this could look like.
Just something new to share with you guysā¦cropped up on local trading side. Will be in my shed soon!

Got it for pretty much the freighting charge. First thing I will do is punch 2 extra holes per side for 6 buttons play.
Got a question for all the guys who have a cabinet setup that house an Xbox, PS3, PC, or any console:
How are you rigging up your power setup for all the components? Is there a way to rig it up so that one easily accessible power switch turns on all the components?
Iām in the planning stages of setting something up for myself, but I can see it being pretty damn tedious to have to turn on the screen, the console, and the amp/receiver separately each time I turn on the cabā¦
I use 2 plugs. One for the Arcade that powers the light, monitor, speaker amp and the other for whatever console I have going to the cab.
- I have everything hooked up to an APC battery backup. I use the battery backup for my console, PC and TV. Iām not a fan of turning the power on and off to my components since they simply go into āStandbyā mode when everything is turned off.
IMO, the easiest way to turn everything on and off at the same time is with a programmable remote control like a Harmony.
I have my setup hooked up to a power stripā¦
I wanted to get one of those Versus cab but its just way to bulkyā¦I wish there was an option to split it in halfā¦
There is a kit to split the versus city. But I really wanted a vs setup eversince my knees touched my mates while playing street fighter on a regular cabinet. For power switch management, I use a wireless solution. Beats shuffling back and forth to plug and unplug components.

Kit? I was told you couldnāt do it as it was pretty much welded together at the bottom.
The kit was available from River Service Japanā¦dont know whether they still have them.
Oh man. Iāve been searching everywhere online for candy cabs because I want to promote the old cps2, 3, Neo geo games at Next Level, where I work at in NYC. Its so hard for me to get ahold of some of these cabinets since its at the east coast, and I was going to make it community driven thing to get the folks out in the East Coast playing games like Super Turbo, Vamp Savior, and yes Even Karnov gets love. Iām going to do a fundraiser soon and raffle off my sticks to get the capital I need for 2 cabinets.
in soviet russia, fundraiser pays you!
If youāre promoting CPS2, Neo-geo, or any other old school jamma games, cant you just play them on wood cabinet? Wood cabinets are easily found & cheap compared to the candy cabinetsā¦
Yeah, also what about going the supergun route? At any rate, the neo-geo forums seem to have candy cabs for sale regularly on the east coast. You just missed a big group buy for blast cities in philly

Anyway, I support you in finding candy cab setups for the Next Level, candy cabs are awesome. Hope you find what youāre looking for.
Is mame the emulator of choice?
I used to want to put mame on my cabs then i realize that the more games you have the less you will play it weird i knowā¦Thatās why i mostly got dedicated cabs in my setupā¦
Anyway, i only got one more cab space for my arcade room at the houseā¦Going to pick it up Fridayā¦Wasnāt really my ideal cab but its so freaken cool i had to get itā¦I was saving that space for a Naomi Universal Standup Vertical cabā¦
Speaking Naomi Universalā¦
